Level set your expectations (new poll):

Progressives just need to form up on Warren like Voltron and it’ll be fine. D:

Dang, I guess I won’t get to vote for Pete in the General election.

And if I don’t want Bidden to be president, I guess I should start focusing on the not Bidden consensus candidate.

Although, I will happily vote for Bidden in the general.

I have not given up for voting for Mayor Pete.

If we could just turn stories like these into graphic novels or a hit Netflix show, he’d have a real shot.

I just can’t see it happening next election. Too many Americans would be reluctant to vote for a gay candidate, sad as it is. Probably most of the same folks that always seem to find something wrong with a female candidate.

It is definitely a long shot but is gay necessaryily worse than being a woman , black, or old? I’m not sure

With African American voters, it might be. And no Democrat is winning without big turnout from that demographic.

So… Are black people just really homophobic?
Cause that seems to be a recurring theme here, but i haven’t seen anyone just come out and state it plainly.

I mean, that’s way too broad of a statement for my tastes. Aren’t churches heavily involved in getting out the African American vote in the South? I have to imagine that has an impact on the abysmal poll numbers.

Regardless if why, at this moment, the majority of African Americans don’t support Pete, the fact is that at this moment they don’t. And the Democrats need that constituency. So, as much as I favor Pete, he’ll probably need to go the Joe Bidden route. Be VP to a super popular Democratic president, and then ride those coat tails afterwards.

The discrepancy? African American voters, who were overwhelmingly in favor of banning same sex marriage (70 percent supported Proposition 8) even as they supported Obama even more heavily (94 percent). And, to a lesser degree, Hispanic voters followed that same trend – backing Prop. 8 by a 53 percent to 47 percent margin while giving President Obama 74 percent.

Just some numbers. African Americans tend to be more in favor of traditional marriage and gender roles when you look at the data, but just like anything else it would be dumb to apply it too broadly or to an individual, of course.

being publicly gay is less accepted in African American culture

Pretty much all the polling I’ve seen (none too recent) shows support for Gay marriage is lower among Black, Hispanic and believe Asians than Whites.

On the other recent polling Blacks are far more pragmatic than other groups. Who ever can beat Trump gets my vote. So if Pete does well in Iowa and NH a decent possiblity,. then he could benefit from the momentum.

Or but it another way national polls are meaningless. But state polls start to get important soon

That doesn’t make a lot of sense. Tuition is out of control because of the federal lending programs and their generous interest rates. Make loans harder to get, and more expensive, hell, make them dischargeable, then you’ll see costs drop dramatically.

Warren’s plan means-tests it at $100k, which I think is perfectly fair and reasonable.

Sounds all right to me too.

Is that why? I thought it was because state funding for University has been drastically cut over the last few decades.

I mean, Alaska is facing a giant increase in cost because if state budget cuts.

Anyway, here is an interesting article I found on the subject. It’s a mixed bag.

What do we do with all the kids who are now priced out of education for a decade or so while prices are falling?

We have plenty of cake, there’s no reason they need to starve.

Why would I not go to the most expensive private college I could, with no consideration as to the cost of going, if tax payers will just foot the bill so long as I make less than $100k?

I seriously don’t understand this. Like, my son is going to an in-state public school because he wants to pay in-state tuition and does not want to pay back the $75,000 per year that private schools cost. Why wouldn’t he just say, “Fuck it, I’ll go to the most expensive school I can,” if he doesn’t actually have to pay for it?

Why would anyone attempt to be frugal or cost effective in pursuing their education? They’ll just be paying for everyone else who isn’t.
