It is really stunning to see how different they debate sounds when they replace Trump with a woman.

I don’t remember Hillary being that level of incredibly smarmy annoying.

I think you saying Biden described those views as objectionable is a bit of a stretch there. He said the Israeli regime would object to those views.

The big issue to me is categorizing Israel as a democracy, when it is more of a theocracy at this point.

Well, it means he’s conservative. Because he’s used enjoyed the Appalachian Trail, so now he doesn’t give a fuck if anyone else gets to or if it’s destroyed.

Just so we’re on the same page here, Mark Sanford is the “family values” conservative Christian that disappeared for six days to visit his mistress down in Buenos Aires while he was Governor of South Carolina. When people asked him where he had disappeared to, he panicked and claimed that he was “Hiking the Appalachian Trail” for that week… a story so amazingly airtight that it held up for several dozen minutes.

Now to confuse matters, Sanford the Congressman ALSO pushed to defund the Appalachian Regional Commission, which is somewhat related to the Trail.

It’d be like saying the future of the GOP relies on that douche Rep out here in California that vapes, stole thousands of dollars of campaign money for personal use, then threw his wife under the bus over it. Also had various affairs with staffers, etc. But he’s all about the family values!

You left out “and flew his pet rabbit across country on the public dime.”

OK, now I’m back on the Mayor Pete train.

Oh hell yes!

There’s truly nothing more gripping than watching a pitcher at the plate. Will he strike out? Will he bunt? Or will he strike out while trying to bunt? So many exciting outcomes!

I have a very good feeling about this digression.

As good as my feeling when I get to watch another AL manager completely fail to understand bench management because they’ve gotten fat and lazy.

Shortstops are usually not very good hitters either. We should probably DH for them too.

twitter, describe politics in 2019

Pitcher home runs are the most awesome thing, but they happen so rarely.

I used to agree with this, but after seeing how bad most pitchers are (I grew up with 90s Braves, and Glavine/Maddux/Smoltz were always competent with the bat, and they had Hampton for a bit too), and how braindead pinch-hitting is in the NL, I now support the DH.

I don’t consider it bench management when the moves are no-brainers. Also I’m tired of seeing Soroka getting hit by pitches at the plate over and over.

Yes, let’s derail a thread about Democratic Presidential contenders in the Politics forum with a debate about the merits of the designated hitter. I know it was brought up by one of the contenders, but that’s no excuse for you sportsball lovers to do a deep dive here.

Adam Dunn and Steve Balboni, not inning done and leaving 'em loaded.* ;)

*yeah, okay - Dunn and Balboni sucked but they’re the first I thought of to fit the idiotic rhyme, lol

Mayor Pete social media game is strong.

Yes, and I think it is more than just social media. He has an excellent sense of the kinds of things which actually unite huge numbers of Americans. If I were running for office here in my red county, I would definitely include dog advocacy… In fact, as a teacher far more liberal, academic, and union than the community, I did blunt a lot of opposition by a steady stream of dog. Dog photos, dog humor, interest in their dogs, showing up with my dogs. It works! (Though probably only if it is sincere.)

To this red county resident, the guy just reeks of knowing what he is doing.

However, and this is very important, so far it appears his appeal does not extend to black voters. And until I see evidence of that changing, I am not going to be gung ho about his candidacy.

Don’t try and teach your grandma to suck lemons, Pete:

:D

More seriously, I love all the Dem candidates and their pets.
