If you do anything that supports Trump winning, then you aren’t a progressive.

That article is specifically saying energizing progressives (and specifically “socialists”) isn’t enough to win. This is true. However, energizing Democrats is. See: 2008, 2012 (note the author doesn’t bother to mention those elections.)

“Democratic base” is not a synonym for “progressive.” Neither is “centrist”, though that’s what the author wants you to believe.

I’m sorry, if 4 more years of Donald Trump isn’t enough to get you off your ass and in to the polling booth, then I don’t know what is. It is pretty much impossible for me to understand how you can be a “Democrat base voter” and not be highly energized/motivated/stoked/chomping-at-the-bit to get the piece of shit out of the White House.

I think we’ll have plenty of people come out and vote for exactly these reasons. 2016 was a complacency thing after 8 years of a good president, 2020 should be a “WTF just happened” election.

I don’t get it, either. Like Timex, I will vote for damn near literally anyone, including Marianne Fucking Williamson, if that’s who the Dems put up against Trump in 2020. There are lots and lots of choices I wouldn’t like, but I’m getting off my ass and pulling the “Not Trump” lever.

Generally folks who blame the nomination of Clinton for the election of Trump are folks from the far left.

I certainly think Clinton was a better candidate than Sanders would have been.
