Warren’s Ground Game could turn Iowa into a rout:
That’s not even taking into account Warren’s grassroots operation, which is widely regarded as the best – by a lot – of any campaign in Iowa. Wrote the Des Moines Register on Sunday:
“Elizabeth Warren’s slow but steady rise in the first-in-the-nation caucus state is as much a result of her robust organizational presence here as it is a response to the Massachusetts senator’s many plans and policies, Iowa experts say … the (poll) results were not surprising, said several Iowa Democrats who have watched Warren build out a team that is widely credited with having the most sophisticated organizational presence in the state.”

We’ll be fine. As someone that has worked, set up and operated secure communications gear since … 1992 (? fuck I’m old,) the one constant is change. MILITARY hardware encryption back then would be easily beaten today.
Even today though it’s about the percentage of certainty, meaning there isn’t anything considered 100% secure because to do so is akin to future failure. So they have different levels of secure communication and proceed to communicate across them based on the security of that level.
The same is true for nearly everything we use as civilians for encryption. There will come a time when current encryption techniques no longer work, but we will most likely have migrated from using them to the newest techniques for the time.

So, with impeachment investigation imminent, I know that doesn’t mean crap about Trump actually being impeached. But it certainly has the ability to weaken his chances at the polls.
But it most certainly opens the door if another mainstream republican wants to go all in against him during a primary. Right now besides Trump we have Sanford, Walsh and Weld.
Any guesses or comments on who else might get into the fight?

Maybe, certainly I think HE THINKS it is still in the cards for him and his binders. He’s a more palatable alternative in, well, most respects to Trump. But could he sway Trump voters?
Rich I think that’s probably the best bet, but I don’t keep up with who is supposedly the hot commodity in the Republican party.
What about Nikki Haley?

I think it’s still theoretically possible that Trump could be impeached by the Senate. Exceedingly unlikely, but if public opinion turns against him enough, it could offer an off-ramp for the GOP members who want to still have a career after Trump’s gone.
Yep. Needs to hit a critical mass where Trump becomes such an albatross around the necks of GOP Senators enough of them have to cut ties. That’s going to take a concerted effort by a historically inept Democratic PR campaign, a media market which has largely abandoned any pretense of integrity in exchange for clicks, and an electorate who thought choosing someone like Trump was a good idea in the first place.
I wish us all the best of luck, because we’re going to need it.
Putin lover Tulsi Gabbard has qualified for the next Dem debate.

If there is a real impeachment inquiry - Trump is going to suck up all the oxygen for the next six months. I don’t know how Republicans will be able to push forward a viable Republican contender while Trump continues to thrash in his death throes. He won’t go down easy even if it is in the republican party’s best interest

It’s the kick them while they are down principal. Also known as the, “if your quarterback is mired in a big public controversy, you throw in the backup,” game plan.
“What’s needed now more than ever is a strong, sincere, and stable voice of the Republican party and for America. We need a leader who speaks the unvarnished truth, one who leads by exemplary example.”
Yada yada …
The statements would write themselves practically. Just as with our current Democratic nominees, every Republican in the ring will use Trump as the example of what not to be, so anyone pulling the R handle will understand they aren’t stuck with a loser or a Democrat. (Unfortunately they don’t understand the R handle IS the loser handle, but whatever.
Republican strategists right now are weighing just how much dirt is going to get brought up about their supposed leading candidate and it won’t take long for the conclusion to have a plan B. February 2020 is the Iowa caucus.

It’s tempting to believe that Republicans will somehow find their moral center, but let’s not fool ourselves. They were afraid of Trump’s base when he was just a candidate. There is no way they will betray Trump as a sitting President.

I’m constantly amazed that Republican haven’t thrown Trump under the bus long ago. Nixon, wasn’t beloved by Republican either at the rank and file or by leaders. He was generally respected and somewhat feared, by politician somewhat like LBJ. However, and this is important two year earlier Nixon won the election with 60.7% of the vote and carried 49 states, he won the popular vote by over 18 million votes. So when Republican talk about invalidating.the election this nothing like 1972 election.
Pence has a fighting chance against Warren, Biden, and especially Sanders IMO. Plus just from job satisfaction perspective, do you want to spend the next 5 years trying to defend Trump’s tweets and his behavior, I think that would be exhausting.
I understand many fear a challenge from the right, but as the Alabama Roy Moore race proves, there is a limit in even the reddest states for how “conservative” a candidate can get elected
