The one thing I’m very confident is that there will be a big upset in the first 3 primaries. Now this could be one of the 3 front runners completely tanking but I’m hoping it is actually Mayor Pete winning or coming in 2nd in one of the primaries.

Mayor Pete taking 2nd in Iowa is certainly possible. I suppose he could take first if there’s some major shift in his popularity, but it seems much harder for both Warren and Biden to tank or for him to double his numbers without both of them tanking. I also think he has a good shot at a solid 3rd-place finish in both states, though, which could be good for him if Biden has poor showings and his electability argument unravels.

That’s a dubious characterization. The ‘false statement’ is essentially a gag setup whose falsity is acknowledged two paragraphs down.

Or is that the point? That Ms. Wong (whoever she is) just got pwnz0red by Warren?

Yeah, Warren isn’t actually presenting fake stories, except perhaps to someone who only reads the headline of a story.

So like 90% of the US population.

Joe Biden should keep his pie hole shut because all this does is give Trump ammunition.

But will he say look forward, not backward? That’s the question.

Yeah. Not pardoning is one thing, but it != having him tried by the DoJ for his crimes.

Sanders needs to give the money back and pull out. Too old, too heartattacky.

Joe Biden shouting down Warren to take credit for the CFPB is…something else. Joe has got to go.

Pick a thread where this belongs. Writer is a former VP at Cigna. Quoted at length, emphasis added.

Thanks largely to the council’s multipronged attack, which included lobbying by corporate chief executives and PR efforts to persuade reporters and television news anchors to use the industry’s preferred language about the Clinton plan, Congress never even voted on the Health Security Act.

And we are seeing the same dynamic play out in terms of the politics and policy conversation. After watching the first three Democratic debates and accompanying media coverage, I find that the industry strategy has been more effective in manipulating journalists and pollsters than I could have ever predicted.

The reality is that Medicare for All legislation in the House and Senate would give people many more options. That’s because, unlike a private health insurance plan, Medicare does not limit the choice of health care providers to ever-changing “networks” of doctors and hospitals. Instead, you could go to any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare (which is virtually all of them). And current Medicare for All proposals would provide a means of budgeting to ensure that all hospitals, including rural hospitals currently closing by the dozens in the private insurance marketplace, remain open.

Yang manages to wiff it on Maddow. She brought up the debate moment when he said the US has also interfered in other countries elections. She asked him which countries and he couldn’t name one.

Does Maddow not think it’s the case? I mean, I don’t know if we’ve literally gone in and hacked elections per se, but we have overthrown or helped to overthrow leaders whose ascendancy to some extent reflected the will of the people of their countries (Allende, Mossadeq, Lumumba, etc., hell you can go all the way back to Queen Liliou’kalani if you really want).

Anyway it’s irrelevant. That America has done bad things doesn’t mean we should just grin and bear it when bad things are done to us. We should instead, through a properly elected government, work to improve our own foreign policy.

Central America says hi, and also fuck off.

Jesus.

I’ve been taught that when I give talks, I shouldn’t bring up a topic or make a point unless I’m prepared to back it up with facts/data. I know we have lower standards for the president than we do for regular working folk, but it would be nice to see him have a single example.

This is only a trap question if you’re unprepared to back up your assertion.
