If we remove the Trump factor and look at Hunter Biden in isolation he’s what we call in the industry a high risk PEP. I’m a strong believer that PEPs shouldn’t use their name and associations for enrichment and I would want some pretty heavy duty management approvals, mitigations like monitoring and third party investigations on file if my company was to do any business with him. Similar with any family member or associate of any senior political figure. We are reluctant to do business with companies that have the sons of ministers of small countries, let alone the son of the former US VP.

That’s an interesting perspective. What does PEP stand for in this context?

For what it"s worth, I think Joe has a realistic perspective on the realities of Hunter’s business dealings.

Politically exposed person. Essentially someone who would trigger heightened corruption concerns for a financial institution.

Oops yeah. Slipping into acronyms and jargon is a bad habit.

A PEP is a red flag. Banks have PEP committees with senior management who make decisions on approving relstionships, whether or not is good PEP/bad PEP (domicile, context, power held, etc) and whether or not is still a PEP and more.

Get this wrong and regulators come knocking. Fines upto billions. Get it really wrong and lose your banking licence.

Congrats to the Republicans for making me like Biden more. They are attacking him? Great, Biden must be doing something right.

At the government organization I work for (which is part of the IC) we have suddenly had to take “Whistleblower Training” that is due by Oct 31. Now training in and of itself isn’t interesting, because I have to take like 10-15 courses a year. But this is a new module and was assigned mid-October. Seems pretty suspicious.

I was wondering if we’d see the agency’s slant on the issue, and I was not disappointed - I found the answer when one of the slides said “Whistleblowing is a patriotic activity” and went on to explain how it’s a good thing. I was like “hell, yeah!”

So anyway, I’m fully up to date on whistleblowing!!

Great, Biden must be doing something right.

All of these candidates are highly flawed, and if Biden looks appealing, I think its by comparison.

Warren for example is too shrill, too Puritan New England, to ever win. She has little warmth, and little in the way of charisma. And she has that strange history of pretending to be a Native American.

Oh hell no.

Have you always been a RedState shill or am I just noticing it now?

Beat me to it.

Hahahaha, never change. Actually, please do.

Sorry let, me be more clear. You are always 100% wrong about everything. Therefore, if you are against something, it must be right in at least some degree. If it was not right in some degree, it would be 100% wrong, and then you would be agreeing with it. See? Simple logic.

Man, just imagine what would be said about someone who acted just like Donnie Dipshit but had the audacity to have a vagina.

I mean he gets plenty of well deserved flack, but he also gets lots of fawning praise from the media ‘Trump makes a strong stand’ type knob wetting over his authoritarian bullshit.

You’re even parroting the siloviki sockpuppets now. Word for word.

Our card carrying sexist asshole would be flipping his shit for sure.

Ignored. Shrill my muscular ass.

Yeah. It was stupid funny for a while. Now it’s just bullshit.

It’s a stupid comment, certainly, but you folks realize that there’s plenty of (mostly rural) misogynistic American voters thinking exactly the same thing, right? By all means tell off Lemon here, but don’t lose track of the fact that this sort of attitude is a real issue that I hope Warren’s campaign is taking into account. Be nice if they had a way to combat it; if not, at least they should know where they’re gonna lose to these attitudes.

Pretty sure that Warren is not relying on South Dakota and Oklahoma for victory. She needs to win in states like Pennsylvania and Virginia, where the “New Englander” label is not so burdensome.
