Fourth in a field of 20+ candidates at least gives you enough visibility to stay viable.
That is absolutely a glass half-full kinda way to look at it!
But the primary clock is pretty cruel for Warren. The argument becomes “If she can’t finish top 3 (or top 2) in her neighboring state, what states is she going to win? Where are her delegates going to come from?”
Sanders/Warren 2020. When Bernie dies in the 2nd year because he’s 100, Warren can take over.
We do ranked voting for city elections in Minneapolis and it seems to have worked well for the last few cycles.
I particularly though the mayoral race went pretty well, even if the guy we ended up electing was the kind of businessy centrist Democrat that I normally can’t stand. Not a bad choice for Minneapolis, though, IMO, since he got pushed left in the race anyway and our city council is, shall we say, not part of the surrender caucus.
I mean, it’s fine to want more evidence than countries with a particular demographic profile, but I don’t understand why you consider this so high-stakes that you require extensive study before even allowing the idea. I mean, the government runs most childhood education right now, why should our default position be that private daycare is better until proven worse? Warren isn’t even suggesting doing away with private daycare, just that the government should offer affordable public daycare.
Didn’t know Miinneapolis was on the ranked voting list. Don’t get me wrong, I think there is plenty of evidence that rank voting is good, just that it ain’t going to happen this cycle. The lawsuits alone will prevent it.
I know it’s a common argument, by which I mean to say that I don’t think Strollen is a racist over this, but for the life of me I can’t come up with a non-racist rationale for “but Nordic countries have homogeneous ethnic demographics, so their results don’t count.”
“news cycle” in this case appears to be “From about 10am to 1pm ET on twitter”

This the chart for total primary and secondary education by source. As you can see the Federal share is by smallest dwarfed by far, by local and state education, and roughly equal to private spending on education.
My understanding is the Elizabeth is proposing spending $75 billion on this program. That’s double the current budget for the entire dept of education. It is also triple the No Child Left Behind program, which despite bi-partisan support (Bush 43 + Ted Kennedy) and some evidence that it worked at state level failed at the national level.
Finally, the last/current program for early childhood education, “Head Start” has been shown by study after study to have no lasting benefits for children after about 3 or 4th grade. So given the litany of failure of the Federal government educational programs, I want to see proof at the state level before we nationalize anything.
It is it easy to achieve consensus to do an action among a homogeneous group. Example impeach Trump on the QT3 forum
So ethnically homogeneous states are just better at everything? Because having a stark majority of Swedes in Sweden means that they disagree about democratic government less?
I’ll be polite and leave it at “yeah, I’m not buying it.”

Is a racially homogeneous group the same as a mentally homogeneous group? Are we talking clones here?
No not better at everything just better at achieving consensus. So for instance the homogeneity of Saudi Arabia have enabled them to deprive women of their rights more effectively than more diverse country like India or even Pakistan

I suspect that certain things like not having to deal with things like different languages and stuff WOULD in fact make lots of things easier.

This why (American) English should become the Official global language, not just the official language of the KKK.

I wad referring to one language making things easier. I’ll quote people better, but I don’t know if that helps when readers have the quoted party filtered.
Yes (jaundice) and still loopy too.
Might be loopier tomorrow, depending on a surgeon’s schedule. I’ll try to keep from posting my favorite Playboy artistic nudes of all time (I can totally get away with that right now though I assume. Although Tom did ban me for six months once when I posted a fully clothed angel moving her shoulders back and forth at the pearly gates).
