Jason's Ridiculous Oblivion Mod List - Koontz Edition

I’ve updated my mod list, and I’m pretty sure they’re all now 1.2 compatible.

I need someone, or someones, to do the following:

  • Provide a place I can upload the 1.5 gigabyte mod archive.
  • Test out my installer batch script on a clean 1.2 Oblivion + Shivering Isles install.
  • Test out the mod loader and configuration.

Lum?

Thatsa one spicy meat-a-ball! 1.5 geebees of madness.

It makes you wish there was an equivalent to the WowAceUpdater for Oblivion modding that would let you just tag an online list of mods to DL and hit Go and it will install them for ya (and subsequent passes check for updates).

The easiest way to distro this will probably be the same method Lum used, if you’re OK with saturating your upload bandwidth for a few days, via uTorrent super-seeding. As for a tracker, if you have an SA account maybe you can use the goon torrent site he used.

I can help testing it out once I receive the whole package. I deleted my whole Oblivion setup, so I will be clean-slate.

BTW: have you seen those new Telvanni tower mods? Also, I found on TESSource an OMOD pack of all of the Unique Landscape mods-- I think it may be a worthy inclusion. Oh, and the Thieves’ Tools and Thieves’ Highway are cool too.

I’ve chucked unique landscapes in there, yeah. No telvanni towers or TT/TH though.

Someone who handle the upload PM me.

I’ve checked the old Jason… Ridiculous Mod List, and I’ve checked this thread - where do I find this new updated list of mods?

The last list was fantastic, looking forward to seeing the new additions!

Istari

McCullough, you’ve got PM.

Operation Optimization - http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=10510
“The aim of this mod it to optimize large objects, interior and exterior meshes for better performance with no quality loss at all. Currently only the large interior meshes and the huge tree in Sheogorath’s Palace have been optimized and need thorough testing before more time is invested into optimizing more meshes.”

Streamline - http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=10400
This last one basically is an OBSE script/mod that does some memory optimization. I would try it but I can’t get OBSE working under Vista.

Francesco 4.3b patch: http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=678509

Realistic Flora (is better than Harvest [Flora] since it doesn’t bloat your savegames) should be getting an SI update sometime soon. This mod is made by Quarn…

BTW Jason have you checked out any of the replacement body mesh mods for the female bodies?

Exnem’s “EyeCandy” body is pretty great and there are modded meshes for most of the armors out there for it as well: http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=10168
pics:http://www.tessource.net/files/image.php?id=22332 (both of these are for the underwear version, not the nude one).

Kensh’s Vampirism: http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=10475
Seems pretty cool, you start off debilitated (makes sense, it’s a disease afterall) but with 61 levels of advancement you can become pretty freakin’ powerful. Rewards those who stick with being a vampire for a long time!

Paladin armor/quest mod, “Lost Paladins of the Divines”: http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=10505
Bearded People: http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=9970
No More Guards with Bows: http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=10427 (Causes them to be back to pre 1.2 walking around with sheathed sword instead of bow all the time).
Pretty cool Ayleid home (not a ruin): http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=10424 (Meant more for a high level character that’s finished the MQ in classic Oblivion)
Better Summon Undead animation (No more head-cone anim): http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=10418
Armored Circlets (armor on your head without wearing a bucket): http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=10380

These mods called Thieves Arsenal more or less try to recreate the tools available to a person like the main character in the game Thief. ;)

I went kinda mental waiting for this slow computer to install Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Developer and added a buttload of links. :)

Edit: I’m as batty as Sheo, I guess. LOL

Christ this patch for VS2K5 SP1 has taken over 40 minutes so far. :(

Just to scare you, here’s the Burger King’s Mask: http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=9984

Will it be possible to install a la carte?

Jason burn me a DVD and I’ll test your installer script and whatnot.

I’m willing to test it out as well. I’ve been planning on doing a fresh install with a bunch of mods anyway.

Bueller. Anyone? Bueller?

Look at the bright side–we finally figured out a way to curb McCullough’s post count.

I think I may have broken his mind. :(

That set of mods is pretty much feckin sweet! I especially enjoy the Main Quest Delayer mod, which drops you off in Anvil and requires you to get arrested by a guard captain before you can actually start the main quest.

It also lets you pick your starting level and whether you want to be a vampire, both of which are pretty cool. I recommend starting at level 1 anyway, because you are pretty much friggen naked, and it is REALLY hard to make money at level 20 something when all you have is a couple of flare spells and a shitty dagger.

Might as well just cheat and give yourself a set of bound-armor and weapon spells.

I’ve been poking at x-com the last few days, sorry. I’ll take a look at this again over the weekend, hopefully I can get it ready.

No worries, hombre. We would all appreciate your hard work and most would like to give you feedback on your installers. I’m ready to reinstall Oblivion, Knights of the Nine off DVD plus all the DLC packs, and Shivering Isles before your pack. I cleaned up everything in anticipation. Aeon221’s reference to modular oblivion having a way to start off at a higher level sounds gravy to me, but I’m actually getting pretty tired of the beginning of the game and having to run the mage guild quests yet again.

So… did this effort die on the vine?

Edit: Apparently X-Com ate Jason’s brains.

Anyone know if the texture mods work with Shivering Isles? Because I see that they haven’t been updated. If anyone has the time, I’d really appreciate a list of good mods for SI, most looking for ones that improve immersion and U.I. issues.

Damn. I could use a nice archive that has all the mods. Looking at the above uber-list is daunting. I want the cool goodies, but I don’t have time to do that much work before I even get to play the game.
