Yes, I had that same issue. I found one the other night and wailed on it with helicopter rockets and nothing happened. I kept at it fairly certain I had to do something with it and finally noticed that when it was fully extended and the antenna at the top were vulnerable to fire. Kinda cheesy, but what are you gonna do.

I usually just toss a remote explosive charge up at the antennas. Easier than trying to shoot them while they’re spinning. The area effect of the explosion takes care of them.
I don’t have any remote explosive charges. >:-(
I just grapple my way to the top and open fire from close range. Works every time, and usually before the paratroopers have landed, so I have time to book it afterwards.

Duh. I was jumping off of the platform to get a better angle, then trying to target the revolving blades. Usually took me about 4 or 5 frustrating tries. Never occurred to me to just grapple up there and blast from point blank range.
Forget the blades; you just have to shoot the antenna core (the cylindrical bit where the blades meet).

You never “find” those. Gotta call Sloth Demon. Well worth the money – they’re one of the funnest weapons in the game. Put your initial upgrade points into them so you get more, more powerful charges.
What’s fun is you can run around a town planting them on water towers, generators, and other destructable objects, then walk out to the edge of town and set everything off at once. The other day I ran across an area with a ton of generators behind a fence and detonated 18 charges at once.
Anyone tried any of the paid DLC yet? The Boom Pack hit today ($2, not too bad) and I am curious about this Air Propulsion Gun thing. Does it knock THEM back or does it launch YOU?

Haven’t bought it yet, but I queued it up at work to download at home as soon as you reminded me!
I let my kid play JC2, but he’s not allowed to shoot anyone (and I had to amend that to include “you’re not allowed to plant remote explosives on anyone either” as seven-year-olds are capable of finding loopholes). So if the airgun is non-lethal, it might make the game more interesting for him. :)

I think this video will answer your question. Especially stick around for the conclusion.
Woah, new DLC? Awesome! Thanks for the heads up.
That video is AWESOME. I’m so getting that air propulsion gun. FUCK YEAH.
This might just be the last game I ever play.
Becasue, frankly, I’m not sure anything can top it.
Yes, I must blow people off of many cliffsides and then watch them fall waaaaaaaay down. This will solve my biggest grapple gun frustration – that it is too hard to hoick them over edges when you’re on a roof.

Man, I want that monster truck.
Notice that even the developers can’t do anything useful with a plane? They fly around in their expensive F-33 Dragonfly and end up just crashing it into a Baby Panay statue, rather than actually using the weapons to successfully hit anything.

I was disappointed that the PC version didn’t support joysticks with aircraft.
Hahah. True Denny. But hey, those two things are actually quite fun with the F-33 Dragonfly. Flying around, because you can go fast, and turn really fast. And crashing the plane into things.
That reminds me of a story about how I learned to do landings. I usually just jump out of planes in the game instead of bothering to land, but there is one mission in which you kidnap a guy who was boarding a flight to Indonesia. Instead of taking him to your destination though, he fesses up on the way there and you have the information you need and you can do what you want with the guy. The guy pleads for his life, and I felt so bad. It was a terrible situation, because I’d never in the history of playing Just Cause 2 ever successfully landed a plane before.
But I turned around and gave it a try at Panau International Airport, where I had taken off from. I lined up my approach. I knew the runway was really long so I could take my time lowering my altitude. I slowed down enough that the landing gear came out. And then I slowly kept going down until I landed… successfully. Woohoo! I actually saved the guys life. I couldn’t believe. That felt really good. Since then I’ve landed a number of planes that I’ve flown. I like attempting it because it’s so challenging.
God I love this game. And I love the DLC they’re offering, too. And the price is right. And the devs are HANDSOME.

Yeah, I really enjoy it as well. It’s challenging enough to feel some accomplishment and if you fail … there’s always another plane in the hangar. :) The respawn distance might be a bit of a bitch, though ;)

I’m not up for marriage, but if Avalanche is up for a one nighter I’m in or alternately, he’s in… whichever.
