I spontaneously dropped the game after ~18ish hours as I felt that I had seen everything.
This might encourage me to go back a bit, thanks!

I have this installed since the last steam sale, I will start playing this week and it should keep me occupied till Civ 5.
I also got all the DLC for this , the steam sale had it all at 50% off, crazy cheap :)

We have different play styles.
I’m 58 hours in and I’ll drop it when I feel I’ve exploded everything.

I’m about 30 hours in and am starting to get more resistance when trying to “liberate” villages or bases. The difficulty is set to “experienced” and its been fine until now, but I’m getting tired of having multiple helicopters after me when I’m just messing around a bit - not even on a mission… Is it possible to change to difficulty mid game? (playing on PC)

I’ve been playing this for a week or so, but held off posting in this thread because I figured most people had stopped playing. Glad to see that isn’t the case!
One of my favourite design choices in Just Cause 2 compared to GTA4 is the way waypoints work. The arrows that appear as you drive along a road are exactly what I wanted in Liberty City – it means that as I drive along I’m looking at the world instead of the mini-map. I love that!
In fact, the driving in this game is particularly fun. I love whipping along the roads on a motorbike, and then driving it off a bridge into a massive gorge.
My most recent highlight was doing the lost island mission where you have to blow up that big tower. Absolutely awesome. And now that I’ve upgraded my Assault Rifle, I’m able to take out Colonels much more easily.

Great world, great game. Lacking unlockables.

one of my favorite things to do in the game was jump on the back of a car and go one a mayhem-a-thon. I wish that if you jumped on the back of a car that it wouldn’t just drive in circles but would rather initiate a new ai routine which would cause the vehicle to break out and just kind of randomly start choosing a direction to go at an intersection.

I think Saints Row 2 somewhat did this.

There was at least a proper surfing mechanic, you couldn’t use your guns but had to balance to not fall down.

It sounds like I prefer JC2’s choice then. What’s fun about being on a car (with an unwilling owner) is not trying to stay on the car, but rather to use it to get away from the cops while shooting at them.

Well, I’m not sure if you could also stay and shoot from cars when not starting the car surfing diversion (when on a car top you get asked if you wish to start car surfing).
I will try later (when the woman stops besieging the TV) and let you guys know.

It was a side-activity you had to initiate, you could stand on the cars and shoot from them normally, but were prone to sliding off with momentum. If you got in the bed of a pickup, you could be more secure.

I wish you could buy more things at once at the dealer :(

Well, you can avoid the cutscene if you stay still after ordering.

yeah I know, but still. It seems to be such an obvious thing to do.

Sounds quite perfect, thank you. I’m just replaying GTAIV and have no words for the used (pseudo) mechanic which means you fall off a couple of seconds after entering a car top.

So here’s an anecdote from last night’s session. I was doing one of the Stronghold Missions (the first Roaches one, I believe), and for whatever reason my heat level was set extremely high, and I had three (three!) helicopters sent at me near the end of the mission, one of them the mission specific “base commander” copter, plus two others. I managed to hijack one of them, and used it to take out the scripted one. This caused me to win the mission, and after having done so, the SAMs immediately turned on the third and final copter, shooting it down before it could get me. All to the sounds of Scor-Pi-O! Scor-Pi-O!
It was awesome.

And just when I thought this game couldn’t show me anything else, it gave me ninjas.

Fucking wimpy ninjas though. Or maybe I’m just God of the Six-Star Assault Rifle.
