Awesome. And that sums up a lot of what is awesome about this game. I love how SAMs are used by the factions to shoot down government choppers. The first time I heard ‘missile lock’ thought that I was about to get blown up only to see the enemy chopper explode was just awesome.
I hope that this game turns out to be a big influence on all sandbox games made from now on.
Not that I know of.
I’m at 61% or so and it’s still mostly a fun game. “Can’t stop the factions” helps a lot - it adds a little more depth to the faction/territory aspect of the game which I bitched about earlier. Finishing off the last few bases/airports/etc is made a little more interesting with a bunch of mutually hostile faction helos and apcs dropping in on the fights.
I’m thinking this game could use some kind of ‘stalker complete’ mod aimed at 2nd playthroughs. Eg. something that properly ties the black market, faction behavior and spawns, equipment etc to the chaos level/mission progression - there’s loads of good mods, but a lot of them are either on/off or fairly game-breaking if they’re dropped on you at health level 1.
I downloaded the demo…
have a question. how do i hi-jack a helicoptor? I use the hook to zip up to it, but then I am just stuck hanging there. I cannot move around the chopper…and I just keep getting shot from the ground.
I must be doing something wrong…
You have to kill the chopper passenger first, then there will be a button prompt to hijack (Y? on the 360).
i know that…what I am saying is…all I can do is hang right under the chopper. I cannot move around to be able to kill anyone on the chopper like I can on vehicles…
how do I move around while hanging there with the zip cord or whatever it is called…?

Same as in vehicles, there should be an option to at least lean around with one of the sticks to take out the pilot and the other dudes.

I’m not sure of the command, but for me wiggling the stick back and forth a bit generally got Rico to grapple his way up in front of the cockpit.
ok…will try it again…using the pc though…that might be what the problem is

Hehe… Same here! No idea, what I’m actually supposed to be doing, but just wiggling the stick around gets the job done…
Yep, press left right up down a couple times and Rico will do some awesome shit and then you’ll be in position to kill the passenger (shoot!) and then toss the pilot out (quicktime!).

I think you need to press ‘down’ (default S) when on a chopper to swing up to the cockpit glass where you can hijack the vehicle (after killing the passenger).

“Scorpio, you seem well endowed with courage and cunning.”
Yeah well, she’s all double entendre and no action.
There is no game that would not be aided by the addition of Bolo Santosi.
It’s just not Bolo unless you get the inflection right.

They really have to give us more Bolo Santosi. I’m still in love with that voice.
And somehow it all just works to make the game even more enjoyable. I don’t fully understand why the voice acting didn’t start irritating me at any point, it might be time to fire up JC2 again and see if I can maybe get close to 50% completion.
Any word on what Avalanche are working on next? Games like this are what make me excited to be a gamer.
What they need to do is an action rpg using the JC2 engine. Replace a lot of the spiffy zipline/parachute tricks with magic and give me the ability to slam people with weapons while surfing a horse and I’ll pay you dearly for the pleasure.
I…hope that reads more like the picture in my head and less like the mess it appears to be.
Huzzah!

Looks like they’re working on two games from their website. One job opening says “action/fighting,” and the blog mentions a game based on “one of the coolest licenses on the planet.”
I just want Just Cause 3. Give me co-op (Rico and Bolo Santo) and aircraft that are actually useful for air and ground combat and everything else will be gravy.

No, have Bolo be Rico’s handler. Constantly in his ear…
