I finally realized I could attach those red rockets that lie around to stuff and set them off. The enemies go flying, it is hilarious.

And the missions are nuts. I just beat “Mountain Rescue” - mission 4. Total b-movie amazingness. It’s a shame more people didn’t discover JC2.

??? I thought the game sold pretty well, didn’t it?

I finished the main quest last week and now going through mercenary mode. I’m at 33% done but I don’t know if I have it in me to go for 100%.

My preferred weapon combos are dual revolvers with the machine gun as my back up.

Yes, it is. I did see once now that there is enough power to send the soldiers skyborne. Every time I had done it, they just went flying around the ground.

I was trying to get a helicopter attached to a wind turbine blade, but the damn things are hard to grapple to, especially with a machine gun firing at me. I suspect the turbine blade will just break anyway.

Woo. I finished this game yesterday. Well, Agency missions anyway. The game clocked me as being 32% done. Definitely a game which I can now pick up and just go crazy for a few small moments at a time, though I’m probably going to shelve it for a bit and catch up on other games. However, I made sure while I was still in the mood to go ahead and get an expert game up and running to the point of being past all the tutorial like beginning and the open world now available to me, the idea being I want to be an achievement whore and finish the game on the highest difficulty at some point in the future.

As I was going through the start though, I learnt something new which would have made the game a lot more easier, and interesting if I’d known earlier. You can actually shoot out the tires on the cars! Just another small detail in the game which makes it much more “actiony.” The car chase at the beginning, after seeing that felt a lot more cooler.

I learned this by accident too. :-) And congrats!

I borrowed this from a friend the other day. As I started it up, looking at the different difficulties, the explanation next to “hard” sounded like me. So I said, “what the hell?!”

Unsurprisingly, I’m now getting my ass kicked. A lot. Should I constantly have ammo issues? I almost always run out and have to run over and melee someone (or grapple them), but by then I’m almost dead and usually really dead soon after. Game seems really, really fun, though (if I wasn’t dieing so often). I wish I could zoom the map in further. I need to give the black market a try and hopefully the sniper rifle will make up for some of my many shortcomings.

I found I was running out of ammo a lot at first, but pretty soon you have enough money to be able to buy a new, fully-loaded assault rifle before each mission, so that problem goes away.

Having to wait for the black market animation every time I want to buy a new gun is pretty much the only complaint I have with this game. And its a minor complaint.

After while ammo ceases to become an issue. Early on, spend your upgrade points on the submachine gun and pistol, as you can get ammo for those everywhere.

Did anyone ever find out if you get or unlock anything for 100% in this game? I tagged all 350-ish locations and got nothing at all, so never bothered to attempt to clear the entire thing.

From the little I’ve read around the net (including Tom’s only real complaint with the game), there isn’t any reward other than knowing you’re a completely OCD crazy person.

I’d imagine 80 hours would be about enough time to 95%, and then the last few packages hidden on roadsides and in forest temples would be another 20 hours, at least.

I don’t know, according to Raptr I’m 132 hours into JC2 and only 66% complete (going for that 75% achievement).

But then, I get distracted easily. Usually by sunsets or distant vistas seen from high places.

And then jumping off said high places.

Again and again.

… you know, a jedi or a superhero game in this world would be pretty sweet. I guess there’s that flying rico mod for the PC version … oh crap, I have the PC version thanks to the Steam sale. There goes another 50 hours (+10 spent browsing and discarding mods because they probably all suck :P).

Come to think of it: anyone know and use any excellent mods, other than the unbreakable grapple + infinite grapples?

Ok, despite what I said earlier, I haven’t shelved this game. I kept going on the extreme difficulty. It is easier to die, however I’ve basically been spending a lot of time with the exploration part of the game rather than progressing the story. I haven’t even done the first stronghold mission for the Ular boys yet, or the initial Agency meeting with The White Tiger.

As such, I’ve managed to bolster my health a bit, and effectively playing with a crap load of cash and upgrade parts behind me with all the places I’ve cleared. I am still dying on occasion in the military zones, but when a chopper is called, I hide somewhere, wait, then hijack the bloody thing and get out of there.

The sweet spot for me with ammo is using the pistols and the assault rifle, of which there are plenty of guys carrying those around. Dual wielding the submachine gun is fun, but damn, it chews through a lot of ammo very quickly, and can be a problem if a helicopter hijack is necessary.

The only other thing to suggest is, if shit is hitting the fan and you don’t want to die, the grapple and parachute technique is a great way of getting away quick. Then keep on grappling the ground whilst in the air to pull away nice and quick. I haven’t noticed the enemy being too good at aiming in the air. And if there is a helicopter around, it can be dangerous.

Oh, and with what I was saying about shelving this game for a bit, well, yeah, the problem has been getting flogged with work, and this is great to sit down for a half hour at a time to explore some new location.

I don’t know about any good mods to be honest. I haven’t tried any though, but would love a mod that increases the sound clips, which would be nigh impossible.

Oh man, I know what I am doing before my next JC2 session…

I have a mod that cuts the black market animation out of the game. It also slashes the prices on black market items by about 90% and lets you buy any weapon/car/helicopter/etc in the game, though the prices of anything that is not normally buyable are outrageously low, so I tend not to buy those in the interest of relative fairness.

link? i’d love to get rid of that animation.

I wish there was a mod to make faction dudes not drive around in circles when you’re on their hood.

Speaking of faction dudes, it would be cool if you could (for a fee or not) hire a faction dude to drive you to a waypoint, giving you the option of riding on top and taking out police and stuff that get in your way. The closest I’ve seen is driving a car with a faction dude on the mounted gun, but their aim is sooo terrible :(

Oh, I have a question. I was able to do faction missions for the Ulars and the Reapers, but now I can’t seem to find any for the Roaches (it seems to have disappeared off the map entirely). Do I have to do the Agency mission to have it come back?

Lots of people have this problem – it’s not missing, it’s just really hard to see the blue icon amongst blue water on a busy map. Turn off all icons except for mission points and look closely… it’s there.
