Are you calling for help from your Hispanic friends, Jason? That’s likely to get you shot, you know.

A History of Cops vs Cameras in Miami

At least this stuff is getting some press even though the police in the article sound like nice, rational folks. Unfortunately their actions have not matched words.

Haha, Urban Beach Week? Wikipedia says it’s the old Freaknik. What an odd place to move it to.

I guess Miami is in the phase where they’re high-strung about it and the cops are all on edge and doing stupid shit. Maybe it’ll settle down when they move into the next phase of trying to squeeze the festivities out of the city.

Cops arrest woman for filming a traffic stop. From her lawn.

http://reason.com/blog/2011/06/23/dc-commission-arrest (with video)

On June 22, 2011, I attended a meeting of the D.C. Taxi Commission for a story I’m currently working on about a proposed medallion system in the district.

About 30 minutes into the meeting, I witnessed journalist Pete Tucker snap a still photo of the proceedings on his camera phone. A few minutes later, two police officers arrested Tucker. I filmed Tucker’s arrest and the audience’s subsequent outrage using my cell phone.

A few minutes later, as I was attempting to leave the building, I overheard the female officer who had arrested Tucker promise a woman, who I presumed to be an employee of the Taxi Commission, that she would confiscate my phone. Reason intern Kyle Blaine, overheard her say, “Do you want his phone? I can get his phone.”

The woman was formally charged with “obstructing government administration.” Hmm.

The video is here, btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7ZkFZkejv8

Also, heh:

during a neighborhood meeting in support of Ms Good, Rochester Police came out with a ruler and measured the parking-distance of the attendees’ cars. Cars that were more than 12 inches from the curb (even by half an inch) were ticketed. Needless to say, the 12 inch ordinance isn’t normally enforced with this kind of vigor.

More on the DC Taxi thing…

In an effort to get an explanation about the incident, WTOP’s Mark Segraves went to the commission office Friday and was thrown out by security. The door to the office was subsequently locked, and the lights turned off — leaving the entire cab commission office in the dark.

Heh…

Jesus Fucking Christ. Here we are, I hope you all enjoy it.

More dog killings…

This time of a three legged dog. The Humane society says the cop clearly falsified his statement.

Blogger tries to photograph a Charlotte cop. Cop threatens her with arrest. Photographer asks for Cops name and… He gives her a false name.

So she calls to complain, and the Charlotte PD lies about the photography law.

What? What did the rest of us do, or not do, different from you?

What the hell? Both stories. I don’t know what needs to be done to make it so that shit doesn’t happen again, but it needs to happen. We are not under police rule.

I love checking police forums like forums.officer.com after incidents like this, just to see how various cops try to justify idiotic actions like this.

Touche, I voted for the Democrats who have done nothing in regards to civil rights other than help out Teh Gays. The ridiculous security state rolls on unimpeded.

AR-15 Left Sitting On Trunk of Seattle Police Car. Uh.

speechless That entire thread is filled with their one sided, warped perceptions.

I actually pity her to a degree. At the same time I pray one day she is in desperate need of police assistance but it is slow in coming and she ends up on the wrong end of a brutal assault by one of the downtrodden she erroneously seeks to defend.

Classy.

Man, that’s terrifying. I could see myself going over to drop the mag and clear the chamber and getting attacked by the police.

Yeah, good thing no gun collectors saw that. durr hurr

I guess it could be worse.

According to two sources with knowledge of the incident, it began when one officer was inside the secure parking garage at the West Precinct and unloaded his equipment from a police cruiser. The officer placed the rifle on the trunk of a nearby patrol car.

That officer, identified by sources as acting Sgt. Bill Collins, forgot about the rifle and walked off.

Another officer, identified as Lt. Deanna Nollette, then went into the garage and got into the patrol vehicle and drove off without realizing the rifle was on the trunk lid, sources said.
