If anyone is worried about moving out with the scorpion + initiative powers on the hunt, remember that a sort of counter is to walk around with 1-2 unit troops. There’s very little incentive for them to be attacked by that player since Initiative would wipe them out before the battle started and hence he doesn’t get the VP.

ironwulf (Red/Sobek)
4th action: Play move/attack on top tier
Move priest on top track of Path to Ta-Seti. Pick up temporary token for +1 STR along way and stop and stay at location
Spend 1 PP to use my Teleportation DI card and move my troop from my red pyramid to Three West Temple and initiate battle with @Lantz

Will send battle/DI card info in PM

Oooooo!

Battle! Sobek (ironwulf) vs Wadjet (Lantz)

Sobek is attacking with 5 units plus the Royal Scarab creature.
Wadjet is defending with 5 units plus the Giant Scorpion creature.

Battle cards:
Sobek plays [3 str, 2 dam] battle card, as well as 2 DI cards:
Bronze Shield (0 PP) - +1 prot
Reinforcements (0 PP)- if victorious, can place up to 4 units from reserve.

Wadjet plays [5 str, sacrifice 2 troops] battle card, as well as 1 DI card:
War Rage (0 PP) - +1 str

Total strength:
Sobek has 5 for troops, 3 for card, 2 for scarab, 1 for Path token (temp), 1 for Bestial Fury power tile = 12
Wadjet has 5 for troops, 5 for card, 2 for scorpion, 1 for DI = 13
Wadjet wins!
Sobek receives 1 Dawn token

Damage:
Sobek deals 2 for card, 1 for Bestial Fury vs 0 prot = 3 damage
Wadjet deals 2 for scorpion vs 1 prot from Sobek DI card = 1 damage
In addition, Wadjet must take 2 unpreventable damage from the battle card used.
Wadjet loses all 5 units. Sobek loses 1.

Retreat/Recall:
Wadjet has 0 troops left in space. Scorpion returns to a city space with Wadjet’s units in it (i.e., the one with the black pyramid).
Sobek (@ironwulf) , you lost the battle so must either retreat or recall: if you retreat, @Lantz will pick the adjacent space you retreat to (which must be empty of any units). If you recall, you will receive 1 PP for each unit recalled (4, in this case) and the entire troop (scarab included) will return to your reserve.
Edit: actually the scarab would go back to your one occupied city space

Moving around 2 troops works to avoid initiative, but it is a four player game and your opponents probably won’t be as considerate. My experience says try not to be the easy target, and when attacked take your lumps, preserve your troops, and know that initiative does not trigger when the owner is the defender. So, it actually encourages aggression.

Of course, what do I know. This Ta Seti thing has invalidated a lot of my knowledge.

Fascinating resolution!

Edit, also, can we get an updated map once the recall/retreat is settled?

Yup, planning on it.

Wow,wasn’t planning on the 5 STR card getting played.
Okay, Scarab goes back to my troop in my city, and yes I’ll recall all 4 remaining troops.
PP 1 > 5
@Greatatlantic

Also, Wadjet (Lantz/black) used their last 2 battle cards in that battle and has been refreshed to 8.

I probably could rethink my move, but it is late, so I’ll just buy Charge!

This red tile gives me +1 Strength when I attack.

PP: 4 - 0 = 4.

@Lantz

4th action: Buy White Crusade (2) PP 5 > 3

@Infested_terran

Bastet/Blue

4th action: Pray (2nd tier)

PP 5 > 0

@Greatatlantic

Lantz is probably going to buy Crusade or Holy War next action, if you want to beat him to it. The scorpion and other high level red stuff is going to be very scary if he gets those. Crusade is probably the more powerful one for that high damage.

I just bought it…
