That’s what I was hoping for and also afraid of. Not sure it’s ever been done right in a 3D game like this. I loved Hellgate London though which obviously most people didn’t so… good luck =)

You very well may be right - QT3 is a pretty small microcosm with some different opinions to the rest of the internet. My reaction was mostly ignorance, if I had discovered the Square sight and learned what they where trying to accomplish first I probably would have had a different reaction.

Anyways, hopefully it works out for you guys. If you start a kickstarter then post a new thread here; I bet you will get a lot more interest from the QT3 folk. You already proved you are willing to interact with the community so Tom should welcome the thread.

And this is why I personally won’t spend a dime on IGG. YMMV.

So I am pretty sure I have already been charged by IndieGoGo for this… :(

Yeah, they charge you right away regardless of the type of campaign, but you get it back if the campaign is unsuccessful.

What, that they allow the option for creators to create a “PAYG” project? I’m confused.

I can’t see myself funding anything which isn’t target-based, but…

proper nuclear holocaust survival, ‘Sheltered’:

At the start of the game, the player must grab as many supplies from the supermarket as possible to stock their pantry in the shelter. Whatever supplies they manage to secure before the end of the four minute warning is what the player will start with in their shelter.

I was sold until I reached this part. Now I’m not so sure.

It sounds like a potentially interesting mechanic and one that fits the game’s general theme. Realistically, if you have a huge underground bunker, you’ve probably stocked it with food supplies, but a game where you could just stay in your bunker for 10 years probably wouldn’t be fun.

You do need limited resources, but I’d prefer another mechanic. It sounds like the rationale is a “miracle mile” scenario, where you find out the missiles are on the way and have a limited time to grab stuff. I’d rather something like you’re prepared, but you didn’t have infinite resources when you stocked your bunker. You were an ordinary guy with bills to pay, and only so much of your salary went into dry goods and such.

+1 for Miracle Mile reference. Can I buy you kids a tube steak?

QT3’s own Jason Lutes has a Kickstarter. Actually his second it appears. This one is an adventure campaign for the Dungeon World tabletop RPG:
Servants of the Cinder Queen. It’s already funded, and under 10 bucks will get you the campaign. Seems to me you just oughtta go get it!

With this project, I’ve tried to create an adventure for Dungeon World that’s more detailed than a Front, but less detailed than a classic AD&D module. The GM is given all of the building blocks—an oppressed village, a ruined monastery, a mad sorcerer, a lost tome, warring gods, an active volcano, a plane of elemental fire—but has the freedom to combine and create connections between them according to how things unfold at the table.

Slightly off topic, but What’s the draw for Dungeon World?

I don’t know personally, but this review on RPGGeek has a rundown of the system, which sounds interesting.

I have never played a system as fast and fluid as DW that also gives me a rich, varied experience that equally satisfies my diverse group of player types.

It captures for me, almost immediately, that same sense of wonder and immersion that I experienced as a seven year old casting Magic Missile and Tenser’s Floating Disc for the first time.

It captures so well the feel of playing early D&D without all the fiddly bits that made playing early D&D such a chore at times.

If you’re looking for a tactical boardgame labeled as an rpg, or if you’re a fan of fiddly bits in your games, this isn’t for you.

But if you want to sit down and play 5 or 6 hours of fantasy rpg with minimal prep time, this is for you.

If narrative is important to you, this is for you.

If you want to spend more time playing the game than dealing with rules, this is for you.

As I’ve been saying to anyone who would listen since I’ve started playing DW,

The best way to play any edition of D&D or even Pathfinder is to play Dungeon World instead.

Do you like The Path or Graveyard? The two person team is creating a new game called Sunset. And it got funded in less that 2 days. 26 day to go.

Reading that, the GM can do anything he pleases on a 6 or less. You need players who are OK with that. The players I had, back in the day, objected strenuously any time I did something unusual for narrative reasons. They would never accept a monster disarming them if it wasn’t a result specified in a table.

Ex-STALKER devs kickstart a “definitive spiritual successor”, called Areal.

  • Goal: $50,000 We’ve completely exhausted our collective piggy banks in getting Areal to the point that it’s at. Areal is in pre-alpha, and we’ve sorted out the A.I., inventory systems and many of the missions. The world of Areal is expanding everyday and we need your support on Kickstarter to finish it!

  • Platforms: Areal will release on PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, Windows, Mac and Linux. Since we’ve already put in a lot of work into Areal, it’s possible for us to release on many platforms with a relatively low base goal.

  • Pledge $25 or more: You will get the digital version of Areal on either Windows, Linux, Mac, PS4, Wii U or Xbox One. You’ll also be listed as a supporter of Areal on our official website. You get everything from previous reward tiers too. Estimated delivery: Sep 2015

Areal’s story is not linear – players can choose how their characters act and speak – everything from how you talk to who you kill changes the storyline of Areal. There is no morality system in Areal, so you are free to make choices that you think are best in any given situation, without being blinded and limited by a standard good/evil system. Ultimately, Areal is the culmination of everything that we want to see from a post apocalyptic game, and it’s something that we can realize with full creative freedom because of the unique platform that is Kickstarter. All we need is your support!

They’re only in pre-alpha. They want to launch on every platform. They only need $50k?

Uh…

Can you just gift copies to people on PS4, Xbox One, Wii U? You can on Windows/Mac via Steam and also just offer downloads on your own site.

I know the iOS store doesn’t allow it :(

Considering they have stretch goals mapped out to 1M, it looks like 50K is a possibly disingenuous lowball.

The kickstarter page itself looks oddly low-rent somehow, they aren’t doing themselves any favors from a presentation perspective.

Yeah, I’m quoting myself.

If that’s not sketchy enough, the video is all footage from STALKER and the new stuff has been confirmed as being made of Unity assets from the webstore.

No thanks.

Edit: Ha! It gets worse! The folks at Vostok Games (ex-STALKER devs currently working on Survivarium) have said this:

We have contacted GSC’s lawyers regarding this fraudulent claim of being the developers of Stalker and Metro Last Light. Please do all you can do ensure people know these claims are false.
