Yeah I don’t have that. My group completely relies on my to figure everything out and then handhold them through the first few games. There are maybe two of us out of almost 15-18 that will actually read the instructions on a new game. Eldritch Horror and Zombiecide are probably as complicated as we get. Agricola doesn’t seem as complicated to those two to me anyway.

Agricola has a 48 page rulebook on how to work out who won.

Fine, you win. Are the solitaire rules any good? :)

I’ve only tried MP solitaire using the 2nd edition rules, and while I did have a lot of fun with that, it was mostly for learning the rules. I only played with 2 players, and I suspect that trying to play all 5 carries a risk of your brain melting.

I’ll definitely try out the solitaire variants once I get the game, though. I’m especially looking forward to trying out Interstellar, which (I think) has seen a major overhaul for the 3rd edition. The guy who wrote the Interstellar rules is a member here, so maybe he’ll pop in to answer your question, otherwise try the HF thread. :)

Fabled Lands Book 7: The Serpent King’s Domain

Fabled Lands is a fantastic open-ended exploration-based gamebook series, each book representing more of a geographical area than a single plotline and all of them seeded with hooks into the other books through keywords. It was originally conceived as a 12 book series, but only six were published before the funds ran out back in the day. Recently the authors have managed to get those original six republished and made available through retailers once again, but this is an entirely new book, never before published. Unfortunately, there’s no tier that gets the actual book except as a 35 euro collector’s hardcover (around $40 US, according to Kickstarter), which is a bit rich for my blood, but I’m linking the campaign in the hopes that some of you feel differently.

I see Dawn of the Zeds: third edition has a kickstarter ending soon. If I recall the reception was fairly good on the second edition. Does third look equally as good to someone new to the game? It looks like they are changing a lot and I’m not sure if it’s good or if it’s A Study of Emerald.

Crap, thanks, nearly missed that one! Discounted shipping will get me in - VPG normal shipping charges to Oz really sting.

Likewise! Cheers Chaplin.

The Third Reaper Minis Bones KS is ending in five days. It’s basically an opportunity to get a ton of nice system-agnostic minis at a good price. You can also just pledge $1 and pick specific addons you want, which is what I’m doing.

I’m posting this here because I missed the first KS and now I have to pay $50 for a dragon that was $10. DAMMIT.

Yeah, you get a crazy amount of figures for the price…I’m going to use some of mine from the 2nd one as meeple subs for certain games, etc. You sure get a huge variety!

Along those lines, there’s “a Gamified Chinese Learning App” which seems promising. Obviously “Gamified” is a bit of a buzzword, but anything to reduce the tedium of / encourage daily interaction with language learning is probably a good thing. And who doesn’t like badges?

11 days left, a little over 70% funded. Should get there, but I don’t think stretch goals are likely.

I always get tempted by that but always resist since I don’t do anything that uses minis any more, and even when I played tabletop D&D we generally just used Hero Quest figures and a dry erase board.

Still, lotta cool minis in there.

I found the Kickstarter video for Space Food Truck–a co-op card game about a space food truck–to be pretty charming in a no-frills kinda way. Definitely will consider backing, although the price seems a tad high.

High Frontier now at $160K with roughly 40 hrs left.

Bard’s Tale 4 Kickstarter - early reward - Wasteland 2?

does anyone know when we are supposed to get the Wasteland digital copy for supporting in the first 48 hours or whatever it was? I never received an email and do not see anything on the kickstarter page about it - maybe it is buried in the 10k comments :)

They’ll probably handle this when they do their BackerKit stuff once all the donations finalize and settle down.

I recently received an email detailing that all the reward stuff from BT IV kickstarter tiers will be distributed via a backer website they’re putting together. This is also how they did rewards for Wasteland 2 when it was backed. The email did not give an ETA on the backer website other than “soon”.

On a related note, they’ve set an October 13th release date for Wasteland 2 Director’s Cut which features an improved graphics engine, optimized performance and a bunch of fixes and tweaks to gameplay and content. The DC is supposed to be free for all owners of Wasteland 2, so I would not be surprised if they just waited until October 13th to distribute the BT IV reward copies of Wasteland 2.

Thanks, Slainte & Armando!

I’ve very excited Central City heroes, and the previews and videos look very promising. Its just over 1K from funding so its likely to make it and I hope kill a few interesting stretch goals! Its one of the few game where you actually get to recruit your own team of superheroes via play as well as expanding your powers, even has secret identities (though I wish they did a little more with that).

Central City cancelled.

Hello All,

This is one of the most difficult letters I have had to write. I regret to inform our backers that we will be canceling the funding for Central City: Heroes. At this point, we simply do not have enough backers to support the funding of a game of this size.

This has been an amazing two year ride to watch this game take shape. From the initial concept to the first character illustration all the way to Gen Con and the Kick Starter campaign. I’m very proud of the Clover Games team and what they have accomplished with Central City: Heroes. I’m also very proud of the wonderful artwork Starcat Games has done on this project.

I want to say thank you to all of our play testers for all the wonderful feedback we’ve received. I also want to say thank you to the reviewers for taking the time to test out the game and for all the kind words.

I also want to send out a special thank you to all of the project backers. Even well established companies can have difficulty delivering a game of this size and for you to put your faith in Clover Games, it really humbles us. Thank you for taking that chance and having that faith. Remember it’s you that allow gaming companies to succeed!

It is possible we could have delivered Central City: Heroes with the current funds, but it would have been at the expense of quality components. You as backers deserve better. I’ve said before that delivering the BEST quality game to our backers is my #1 priority.

I truly believe we have created a great, fun game that I wish we could have shared with more of you. It is possible Central City will be back at some point, possibly in another form. We have a rich universe of characters and stories.

Best wishes,

Clover Games Team
