Whereas most space combat games mimic WWII combat. ;)

Which is what I was asking for! <dropmic>

Well then why didn’t you say so? Have you happened to try this little gem called Star Citizen? Cock of the walk, it is.

No, I meant WW2 sims. :)

Most of my fun in Star Citizen so far has come from Derek Smart posts.

Anyone having a problem with Kickstarter not accepting your credit card? I tried three different ones, very strange!

It has happened to me a couple of times in the past year. Redoing my payment credentials when prompted to do so fixed the problem, oddly enough.

I had it kick back one of my cards one time about a month ago, but when I re-entered the same card a minute later it went through. Haven’t had any issues apart from that.

I had the exact same problem, very weird.

Happened to me today with the Muv-Luv Kickstarter. Just retried it and it went right through.

Didn’t see this one posted anywhere else: Labyrinth, Collectible Card RPG

Labyrinth is a revolutionary hybrid between CCGs, tactical RPGs, and classic dungeon building. You build parties of 3 heroes, each with their own CCG deck to raid dungeons built by other players. As you level up and grow your collection, you can build and expand your own dungeons and defend them against other players’ heroes

So basically, it’s like Card Hunter where you have a party of characters with their own decks, but instead of going through adventures you’re raiding other players’ dungeons. And you build your own dungeon that other players can raid.

Mildly interesting, but the fact that it’s based almost entirely on PvP does little for me. I’ve already got lots of TCGs that I can play if I want that. If they manage to get funded and built, it might be worth a look on a trial basis.

Stoneblade’s Kickstarters have also been…less than inspiring in the past.

Non-gaming stuff, but these were two really popular Kickstarters.

Coolest Cooler is running out of capital and has decided to offer direct sales of the unit on Amazon.

Before the pledgers get their units. As you can imagine, that’s not going over so well.

The Zano Quadcopter is a bust. The company is filing for bankruptcy. Only 600 of the units went to backers and they were mostly disappointed by the finished units and were waiting on supposed “software and engineering” improvements that will never come now.

I don’t think Coolest is running out of capital. I’m a backer and have read all of the updates carefully, and it sounds like they’re pretty genuine. They had specific requirements for one of the parts (a motor), the factory creating that part unexpectedly went on strike, so it’s taken them a few months to test potential replacements - some of those replacements proved unsuitable. They finally found one that works, and it’ll be another month or two before they’re back up to full production.

In the meantime, the limited number of units they produced are going to Amazon direct sales, where they can make new revenue and sell the devices at a higher price. Questionable to do that instead of send them to backers? Of course. But as a backer, I don’t really care. It’s a small number of unites so the vast majority of backers’ units would be delayed anyway, so may as well delay all backer units and make some extra money instead.

Certainly not the most altruistic move, but I can’t blame them at all. And I’m not upset - I know when I’m getting myself into when I back a Kickstarter, especially hardware vs. software.

How I wish there was a kickstarter for a remake of this: (the game, not the video)

Looking like Indivisible has a chance, they reached 90% of their goal with 4 days left.

Note for folks: one of the stretch goals includes an actual baby tapir plushie.

The $175 reward tier (and a bunch above it) includes the plush. They’ve not mentioned any specific stretch goals - getting to their $1.5M goal is more important than anything that might come next.

They did, however, just announce the last of their playable indie crossover characters yesterday: Red from Transistor.

Watch your mouth.

A kind of post-KS reminder (both games had successful KS and raised millions), here is IGN Wiki on Camelot Unchained (aka DAoC 2) and Crowfall (aka Shadowbane 2).

Indivisible made it! :DDDDD

They’ve got two stretch goals up now: an extra hour of original music if they hit $1.65M, and a professionally-animated opening if they reach $1.9M.

Project Phoenix is now delayed to 2018. (Who backed this? It looked so sketchy.)

As of now, NO REFUNDS.

Current estimates place dev at about 2.5 years out from completion. This is 2.5 years from the time we get our full-time programmer on board. That means we are expecting early 2018 for a finalized build and 6 months for testing after that.

We know a lot of people are disappointed with the delays and organization of Project Phoenix. We are not considering refunds at this time. To initiate refunds is to give up on the project since there would be no money left to complete it. If we make the decision to call it quits then we will work out some kind of remediation with backers at that time. Until then we are pressing on.
