Well, that only puts them 4 years behind schedule and releasing 5 years after the KS came out. I mean, in game design, that’s basically “on time,” right?!

I want to believe, but this one seems too good to be true. Can’t help but think it will be in the failure/fraudster bucket in a couple of years.

I don’t doubt the tech will exist, nor even that it does not exist today - just not at the price point they are pitching to backers. They seem to have been getting a lot of attention, I wonder if there has been a working prototype in the wild.

My money is on that being a scam or at least heavily overhyped.

The video basically claims it is an HD tv on a shoe that is recharged by walking. Oh and completely water proof and machine washable.

$25,000 target goal, with flexible funding of course.

They are already at $520k. Flexible funding is quite irrelevant. I also have serious doubts about the viability of this.

To me at least they are both danger signs of a poorly planned project, if not a scam. The only thing they could do worse is have started on kickstarter, not made their goal, then went to indiegogo to do a flexible funding campaign.

Being all or nothing is one thing kickstarter got right.

Obviously this is just a generalization. I’m sure there are many projects which honestly are large but have low target goals or are flexible funding. I’m not saying it automatically makes you a crook, just that it adds a lot of danger to backers.

I can’t see how they could make it for the money they’re after and not yet have a physical prototype.

Shards Online, described below by RipperX as “Ultima Online meets Neverwinter Nights” (first time I heard this crossover!?!):

PS For what it’s worth, there is DAoC free shard - anybody interested can find more details in the comments here.

I should really make a thread for this. Until then, I’ll just spam this thread again.

Project Rain World is looking really impressive. I have no idea if the game is fun to play, but I really want to control that little slug cat and catch some bats.

Watch out everyone, here’s the next Kickstarter guaranteed to succeed!

WTF is this?

I am currently looking into talking with Disney if I am able to do this. If not then there might have to be a compromise on the name or some other parts. I need your help. I am not a very good programmer, and I’m an even worst artist. I want to put this project into the hands of professionals, but in order to do that I need money to hire them.

My hope is that ole ‘Devin’ is really just nine years old. Pretty sad otherwise.

obi one kinobi

Fuck this guy.

Did you guys even read his bio?

Hi I am Devin Tripp I am 20 years old and I have owned businesses ranging from clothing to stocks. I have learned and changed a lot in such short time. There is still much to learn, and I know that I am better prepared for the future to come.

Clothing to stocks you guys. This guy can totally get this done. Totally.

Well, since you’re going to vouch for him, Brian…

What could possibly go wrong?

Frankly, if I were that dude, I’d replace my KS image with a giant splash pic of the Space Game Junkie’s positive quote.

Also, maybe make it a video with screaming dual lead guitars. Or, as this business professional might inscribe it, “duel lede guitars.”

This guy can totally get this done. Totally. -Space Game Junkie, Brian Rubin

Heh, he wants to make a game using an IP that he doesn’t own and he has little or no experience, all he has is an idea. Maybe he should think that the IP owner may also have an idea, and they own the IP and have experience, or deep pockets. Why on earth would Disney let him make a Star Wars game?

Is this Frog Fractions 2? :P
