Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders

Okay, I played the original KUF, luckily on a friend’s machine, because I didn’t believe his claims of how boring it was. And he was right. So was Gamespot, incidentally. The Rune of RTS games - no wonder it was published by GodGames.

But THIS… holy shit! It looks like Dynasty Warriors 4, except it doesn’t stick to the Three Kingdoms era that I’ve gone through time and time again and am getting sick of! Oh yeah and the graphics engine looks like a billion times better! It’s Total War in glorious full 3D and what-not! Corpses don’t vanish! Crazy-looking monsters and shit! Tyjenks - IT HAS ELVES!!! And whoops!.. it has orcs.

And of course screenshots mean jack, so: anyone have any idea how it actually plays? Is it strategy or pure arcade large-scale-battlefield action or a Kessen-like mixture of both or what? If the answer is “Kessen-like”, then does the action suck as badly as it does in Kessen? Sadly I can’t find much info from Gamespot or other sites. Just those sweet, sweet screenshots…

(I tried to read ActionTrip’s preview but suffered an immeasurably long bout of hysterical laughter after reading “the popular real-time strategy Kingdom Under Fire” (emphasis mine) and hit the back button by accident. I tried but can’t bring myself to reread it. Indeed I’m still snickering. So I’m still pretty much in the dark about this.)
