Kung Fu Chess!

I don’t see too much talk of good web games often on this board so I thought i’d bring this up. Has anyone here played Kung Fu Chess. I’ve been playing it for about a year now.

For those not in the loop its a web game of chess, multiplayer only that you play off their site. The difference between normal chess is that there are no turns, both players can move as many pieces as they want, whenever they want. The catch is that once a piece moves it is stuck there for a set amount of time.

It seems simple at first but the game has deep strategy, plus its nice to just jump into a quick multiplayer game that doesn’t require a good system.

Check it out at.

I usually play a few games at lunch, I play as MrDolby, my current scores are (yes those are complete games, ive played alot of this)
788 Wins
668 Losses
24 Draws

I intend to try it! I love chess, but does this web app. crash your Internet Explorer when you close it? Maybe I should’ve clicked log out or something…

They won the IGF award a couple years back. Incidentally, they also have a Kung-Fu Scrabble game, which is also quite good.

okay…the DODGE factor of this game is HARD to get used to…wow

Long attacks are basically useless, so not only do you have to keep in mind a piece’s legal moves, you have to take into account time delay! ugh…it was frustrating at first, very frustrating

I tried it a while ago but got mercilessly slaughtered every time. Finally I gave up out of sheer embarassment. I actually wanted to apologise for wasting the other fella’s time!!

Yeah, all new players do that when they first start playing Kung Fu Chess. You always watch them sending their Rooks across the board giving you plenty to time to move out of the way, and usually enough time to move another peice into position to take the rook when it stops moving.

Long attacks are useless in the game unless you have other pieces covering the places that the guy will dodge to. Thats actually one of my main tactics. Try to setup as many pieces as possible that can move on the squares next to the king. Then launch a long attack on the king, so when he dodges he moves right into check and can’t dodge the next attack. Sometimes I push a bunch of pieces at the other side of the board just before the long attack as a distraction.
