What if you just field the top 3 slots, ie. Ledin/Tiaris/DPS? I think I did that last time we had this map when it was a fixed damage time law.
Nice! @Kyrios I’m 1-1 on Apex so far, will see if I can do 3 more games later tonight.
Shit I didn’t even think about that. In an early attempt I tried Ledin but he died, but I did some pretty random things strategically. Like I think I had him up there with Liana. Sometimes I feel like I get caught trying to come up with the magical dps trick to win maps and forget basic tanking strategies. Although part of the problem is restoration 80%.
Oh man I am going to 6* Tiaris tomorrow I think. That’s going to be super duper.
Yes she’s the best.
And I’m gone. Played 2 matches, 30 minutes per match, for zero interesting gameplay and no decision whatsoever, what a bargain!
You have bad luck! I ended playing about 8 games this weekend, most games took about 10-15 min, and they were generally quite fun. I only encountered one matchup where they ran a standard meta team with overpowering stats, and I encountered actually a lot more variety than last season. Lots of Lanfords and Angelinas, for instance. I was the boring one with the standard 2 tanks/4 healer roster who deployed a tank and a healer each game (except one where I brain fuzzed and forgot to pick my healer, and that’s after I banned all my opponent’s)
I’d say 6/8 of those players had better stats than I did, not surprising since it’s probably the more hardcore players who does Apex first week (I started Apex on the 4th or 5th week last season, and it was quite a bit easier) Did 2-3 in the qualifiers which put from Gold III to Silver III, which I think is the maximum amount you can drop. Still, I think the majority of games it was mistakes/etc. which did me in, not stats.

Yeah, the games were both shorter (probably ~15m average) and more interesting than most of my S1 games for me as well this weekend. Probably just a combination of luck and the increased player pool for the first weekend, since it’s not like they’ve implemented rule changes yet (e.g. fixing the summon strategy).
Every weekend there is a half decent Varna mercenary, it becomes abundantly clear that the best thing I could do for my Apex box in general is build out my Varna, and yet here I am on Monday morning pouring resources into Yulia and Joshua to get them over the hump to “usable”. (Mercenaries are pretty barren this week, incidentally - a lot of okay-not-great versions of very commonly built out characters.)
Apparently Varna is good in the next AB boss and decent in the 5th one, so she seems a good investment anyway.
Tempted to spend more tickets to try to get Yulia, but I plan on pulling on the next banner and the collab banners coming in December, so I probably should conserve instead. I only faced one Yulia in my 8 games, her talent and skillset is pretty intimidating but I managed to Sword Soul her with Elwin and she died from a stray AoE after.
Speaking of pulls, I think I’m skipping the Lambda/Sigma/Gizarof banner to save for the crossovers in dec/jan. I don’t know if I will roll for Clarett.
I ended up throwing some more pulls at Yulia and got her after ~50. 250th time’s the charm, I suppose.
Also going to pull for the upcoming banner, since I could use either Gizarof as a FB, or Lambda to unlock Omega’s 5th bond. Hopefully I’ll get one before the pity rate kicks in.

I would love Gizaroff for thr FB, and I technically wouldn’t mind either of the other characters, but I can’t keep up with my current team as it is and think I’ll wait and go at the crossover characters. And I don’t like the 1/3 chance on top of who knows what kind of RNG I’ll get rolling.
In breaking news, I do not have a team that can do Fenrir for shit. My juggler and BErnie are not built out enough/too weak, same problem with Alemda (who is even more weak). I can get the buffs on him, but I do not have the ability to consistently pour on damage outside of the buffed Lana/buffed Bozel. Atle is mediocre in the fight. My Varna is also just too behind. I got enough damage for the D level achievement box and I’ve used most of those mats already, heh.
Haven’t tried Fenrir, and haven’t even opened the Nidhogg boxes yet. RNG is frightful.
I wound up throwing a few rolls at the banner, as I had a pile of cards lying around (I hit 2000 hero summons yesterday on a back of friendship cards, which ehlped). Alas, nada. But I did get a Yggdrasil Wreath from dragons this morning, and I couldn’t resist the Thanksgiving gift box ($20) that gives 150 joysticks. So now I have the Lana armor.
I just hit 2000 during my quest for Yulia as well. Sunk 20 into this banner but nothing so far, I might just do singles throughout the week for the login puzzle event, and hopefully whatever I expended will carry over to the later banners in terms of the pity rate.
Rune stone candidates (no order):
Varna
Yulia
Juggler
Liana (for Gospel)
Rachel (for Gospel)
Bernie
So many. Note that with 1 stone I can make Juggler almost useful in the Nidhogg fight. I mean, except that he’ll still be behind on stats, to say nothing of gear. So not doing that. Bernie is closer to being useful, so I’m probably going to focus on him (I can gear him much better than I can Juggler, not counting that I couldn’t do proper Juggler PVP even if I had the 4 runestones and class mats, because no hat). But probably after Yulia, not sure yet.
Varna just needs 1 runestone to be awesome at Fenrir. Jugler is just a good investment for PvE and PvP (though don’t expect him to kill anything outside of beast shock) I did rune Bern just because I plan on using him in Slepnir as well as Fenrir and eventually PvP, though I don’t think it’s an urgent investment.
I just runed Iris and probably will rune Olivier in anticipation of Fenrir.
Sadly I too my Varna down the archer path first, not really thinking about it. I did put one runestone in and she has now maxxed the first flier class. I may do another, but the next two (which I have) are probably Bernie’s.
Will Yggdrasil’s Wreath block any mobility debuffing effect?
I think so. It’ll save you from thousands hooves, but not smash, which disables guard but does not reduce mobility.
Had some good Apex matches yesterday. Leonhardts are pretty scary now what with ancient call infantry enchants and I can’t shouldn’t disregard them anymore.
Right. I just hate the way it’s worded. I tried using it in a situation but I thought it failed me. On hindsighbt, I might have properly set up (that is, the healer was positioned suvh that only Ledin could recieve the buff) but I hadn’t used up his turn yet. And then he got a mobility down debuff.
While I want to give him runestones eventually (for the stats + stun), I concurred on Bernie not needing 2 stones for the Fenrir fight. But mine is still flimsy. I’ve opened up all of he and Juggler’s bonds but mats are scarce. A+ trial has an obnoxious law (the enemy gets a shield one) so I’ve not yet beat it for the keys (I’ve only tried twice though).
I got a Veil of Light from the monthly honor accessory. Luna already has a maxxed one. I guess Listell could use it )she’s got holy ark currently). Or Bozel, but I have one of those silence immune rings on him.
Yeah, that used to happen to me too, before I realize that the buff only last 1 turn and if the tank hasn’t moved yet, it’ll expire as soon as he does.
Well, Fenrir is almost over. Not looking forward to Slepnir, which is my weakest lineup.
Listell is probably better off sticking with Holy Ark (which is what I got in the monthly, yayy…)

I have a fully maxxed Veil of Light for Bozel (and Luna, and a couple of spares… can I get a good ATK accessory, pretty please?), and I virtually always keep Boots of Speed on him instead. His int actually being meaningful is very situational.
I got a second Oath of Justice today, which I think is a sign that it may be time to start in on Jugler. I just need, like, a month’s worth of class items on top of all the runestones, nice and easy.
