GoF decisions:

Top priority:
Jugler(130/150)
Leonhardt(35/150)
Yulia(16/150)
Rachel(3/150)

Shelf(45/50) Started working on her since it’ll be nice to replace Lana with her in Apex, having another princess buffer would be very welcome. Also will maybe let me auto goblins in the future which is my least favorite part of the game, aside from event farming. Long road ahead though.

Not sure who to spend the last GoFs on. There’s:
Liana(0/100) Another long road to 6*, she’s pretty good as is.
Omega(0/100) I’d build him up if I was guaranteed a Lambda for his atk bond, but that’s uncertain. The most “fun” option though if he pans out.
Joshua(0/150) He did good work in Jorm and I might try him in Nidhogg, he’s also ok in PvP but disheartening when so many are fixed damage immune
Angelina(50/150) Leaning towards her since I will see results the fastest. Just stats though.

I think Liana is the most technically correct answer there, but probably the least fun. I am getting a lot of mileage out of Joshua/Leonhardt as a debuff/pressure combo in World Arena, though it’s obviously hard to put that together in Apex.

I’m thinking about these for the next two weeks:

Bernhardt (42/50) until 4*, then Clarett (65/100) until 5*
Yulia (68/150)
Jugler (85/100)
Landius (3/150)
Rachel (3/150)
Zerida (31/50) - long road ahead here obviously but it doesn’t seem like she’s going away any time soon

Once the bonus Gates are done it’s probably finish off Yulia and then switch to Zerida, while working through the two boring-but-necessary god-tanks. Until I get distracted by something shiny, of course. (Mystery Knight, come on down!)

Yeah, Liana is probably the one unit who will never go away. Still, building her is even worse than building tanks, as seeing the big numbers on tanks is not unsatisfying. Probably going to punt! Assuming YYH does come at the end of this month I’ll start building those characters then, and that’s not enough time to make a dent in her progress.

I hardly ever get to use Zerida except in WA. Still worth 6*ing her since they don’t seem to want to introduce another Meteor buffer.

One reason I was reasonably pleased with mine is that my last pull was, uh, Betty I think? Anyway the last time I pulled on a banner was an sSR hit so I was going in with 0 pity. 70 pulls isn’t precisely good luck but it could be worse.

Did I stick with my above plan on bonds, let’s see

Rachel 144/150
Liana 67/100 (4 pulls)
Yulia 19/100
Somebody 1 (to unlock a gate; I can’t recall who. . .oh Tiaris because I never unlocked strength)
Bernie 42/100 (since the bag gifted me 60 shards I’ve dcided I build towards 5* and some more stats)
Landius (3/150)
Juggler 24/100 (just the 1, lol)

Emphasizing the wonder tanks as much as I can. I will probably do Jugler 3/Bernie 2 starting tomorrow. That will still put Bernie on the downslope to 5* once the event ends. Oh wait Rachel drops off in two days, so I’ll be able to do 3 on him and 2 on someone else. Excellent. But yay me for sticking to the plan I forgot I made.

Jealous of your (soon) 6* Rachel. I ended up spending my last GoF slot on Joshua. More faction buffers the better I suppose.

To be sure. I am going to work in Lanford some, to get him stronger for AB (and because he has uses). I only need one runestone to get him both 2nd tier classes, so I just need. . . another rune stone. Eventually. Yeah. Earlier today I lost because Ledin didn’t guard until turn 3, at which point was way too late and I was down too many pieces. Honestly.

Btw the originally planned Post-YYH (part 1, with the op champs anyway) EQ Banner gear is out. I pulled the armor today fromd ragons (along with another Arcane Battle garb; I now have 4. And a gargoyle, so it was a nice day). Dunno if this was on purpose or what. I got another holy ring from SS Final (my third; I realize they are super useful so I’m not too disappointed).

I just lost to a team in arena that was like 5k lower than me thanks to the AI being fucking useless and not being able to deal with healing reversal. Super.

I got a new armor too from store - +15% def and mdef when attacked. Seems really good for Ledin, too bad I don’t use him anymore.

I can’t do H&M to save my life and feel lucky I got a B.

What’s killing you with H&M? I’m lucky enough to have a decent number of Last Rites, so I am able to equip Varna and Narm with one, which really helps their survivability. Varna pretty much dies immediately to AoE without one, and with Last Rites Narm can attack without attack blessing pretty far into the fight. I figured out a bit too late (and I think I forgot from last go round) that it’s pretty much impossible to tank the first 2.4x attack phase 3+ even with a suped up Landius; would have done much better if I just withdrew during the first attack each time.

Anyone try out that Clarette from the mercs this weekend? Surprisingly no one I went up against (played about 4 games) used her, but I deployed her each time. She did a good job killing Landiuses. Made some rookie mistakes with her, such as attacking Landius adjacent units for her second attack after Peacemaker proc’ed, etc. Makes me kind of want to invest in her, but going from 3* is too daunting.

I keep missing a whisper debuff and then shit just seems to fall apart, for one. Not necessarily the first
couple. But some how, some way, I will miss someone whispered and then suddenly find myself scrambling to deal with it.

Second problem, Alustriel remains extra useless. I’m still not 100% clear why. Her damage is ok, but she’s not nearly as sturdy as Narm and she quickly gets to a point where I have to be super extra careful attacking with her and I either have to skip turns or eventually just stop bothering until the split apart portion. She’s using a Last Rites mind (as is Varna, and Narm). I run Landius-Narm-Alustriel-Varna(off)-Liana-Tiaris. Everuone who can be in a Last Rites is. Varna never attacks. But I was counting on Alustriel being able to more than, say, 3-4 times. I’m a bit frustrated by this. I didn’t try switching her to Holy Pegasus though (I just recenty maxxed mine) and maybe I ought to next time around to start. I was going to give it another try yesterday and in fact did but got super frustrated and gave up. I typically attack with Alustriel from the Eastern Tower since she’s so fragile, but it doesn’t seem to help.

Thirdly, I’m just screwing up positioning, typically after the whisper insanity starts. I start being unable to get Mass Attack or Defense on everyone - because of whisper - and that makes the whisper fallout harder to deal with.

This was my most disappointing fight this time around, despite a solid improvement in overall grade. I feel I should be able to do better. My Narm is up to 5500, over 800 paper doll attack, and there’s no question she wrecks. I will probably watch a video next time around to help think about positioning.

I used her pretty heavily, and it seems like I got her in most of my drafts. My experience was mixed: given her reputation as a tank-buster and how powered up this Clarette seemed to be, I expected more there, and I didn’t really get that. I did love the overall combo of mobility and power, though. She mercilessly punishes any kind of positioning error. Being Yeless also just makes her make more sense than most other options. Since mine is almost 5* as a result of all those pulls at Tiaris, I’m probably going to build her up slowly, though I don’t know how much of a priority it will be to get her to 6.

I had a really good weekend with Apex overall. Won something like 7 of 9 and got up into Gold II and a bit. That Jugler was really nice, I switched in Sophia as my 4th healer and she did a lot even fairly unbuilt, and I had three or so matches where people really underestimated Leon, of all things. He was my next priority to replace with a more meta DPS, but it seems less urgent, at least for now. I actually might look to move off Elwin first, since I still don’t have any Apex Boots and he doesn’t seem to cut it without both the +1 move and the attack bonus.

Wow, you’re doing a lot better than I am, I’m averaging 50/50 ever since I got to gold. I think I could have killed every Landius I came across with that Clarette if my opponents didn’t (wisely) pick Tiaris to counter. My Angelina is 1/3 of the way to 6* so she overlaps too much for me to build Clarette though.

Nothing too interesting for me in this week’s mercs. My Jugler has better stats but way less hp than the merc one. My Yulia and Bozels are comparable. And that’s the second time we’ve seen the same built Dios!

Hm, I wonder why your Alustriel is underperforming then. Ullr + Pegasus seems like the way to go. Narm probably accounts for 75%+ of my damage, with (Pegasus) Rachel and Landius sneaking in shots whenever possible (they do about 25-35k damage compared to Narm’s 60-140k) Rachel’s offheals are handy though.

I don’t get it. Mind, I wasn’t using Pegasi on her. It was sky archers (I’ve buffed them a bit since the B attempt). But she was noticably frailer than Narm, with similar gear. Probably a little less health but not a ton less (I worked on Alustriel’s enchants some and eeked out some improvements). Maybe there’s a big difference in their defences. But it got really frustrating when I basically couldn’t ever tell if Alustriel would survive an attack. I may have to try rachel. Any damage + the off heal would be useful.

I do wonder if I should try different helms though. Anyway, it will be awhile before I try again.

I unfortunately have attack/int needs for like every type of stone (to say nothing of various other needs) so I’m not sure how I’m going to allocate the end-of-cycle rewards yet.

Yeah, especially since your Rachel’s 6* now! I recommend slotting demolish so that you can heal/dispel from 3 range more frequently.

Man I gotta get Rachel some decent armor for AB fights. I think I have her in a death robe right now (lol). Just a level 20 one, I don’t have a ton of caster armor. And oooh didn’t even think about Demolish. That will be much better for that fight for sure. 874 paper doll int. Not quite Lana’s 909.

Fuck rolling enchants :(

The funny thing is that this weekend is the outlier - I’m right around 50/50 for a season, but for some reason on Saturday I was just the terror of Gold 3 and 2.

The mercenaries are just kind of bad this week. The numbers are good for both Jugler and Bozel, but it’s superficial stats in the wrong places. Yulia kind of the same… and everything from there goes way downhill.

Going to finish Nidhogg attempt 1 at B/1.3m. No way I am getting out of the second slime phase. I managed not to spaz out during the first but I have a hard time with that, and I had to spend a few clocks getting it set up such that my party wasn’t divided completely or someone wasn’t surrounded at the start (lol).

I did all of phase 2 without Rachel sans my opening salvo. Nidhogg one shot her on its turn, yikes. I swapped death robe for a 20 Galaxy Cloak (better overall stats without the useless for this fight ability) but I could only muster a very mediocre enchant and I’m out of Breezes. I’ve got to beef her up, clearly. I did not see this coming. She was within range of Lanford’s aura and Luna’s Mdef aura (althoguh I think the first attack he does is phys? Not sure).

Also maybe I should level everyone up to 66.

It’s hard for a mage tank the first attack past phase 3 or so, even with full health sorcs. I imagine Narm with extreme magic bow and angels can do it, but the easier way is just to have Liana summon directly to right of Nidhogg. Also means you dont have to deal with the poison aura thingy.

When I try this time I’m subbing in either Yulia or Joshua in place of Angelina to fight slimes. I’ll miss her Atk command and alternate though.

Hmmm, you know I think I forgot to put someone to Nidhogg’s right at that particular point. No wonder he attacked Rachel.

I didn’t conisder bringing summon for that reason; I had not been to Phase 2 before. The aura is unpleasant, although the second attack sort of forces everyone to scatter anyway.
