Alonso has an apology to make to Penchus. He was sure Penchus was just a miserly, greedy member of the cleric profession; turns out Justicia is just a royal, scary bitch. I’d be chucking gold and anything else at the problem too if I was constantly being beat down like that.

Penchus is 100% devoutly uninterested in the money and believes sacrifice is good for the soul. He’s a little baffled at the trials Justicia is putting him through, but he’ll work his way through it or die.

I definitely had some terrible rolls but mechanically, I think the issue is that a sole cleric for the party really can’t be so poorly suited for it stats-wise and get away with it. Like Arkon says, it’s not worth it to cast the “real” cleric spells in a lot of cases, but you pretty much have to for lay on hands as there’s not much other recourse. Penchus only gets a 50% chance of laying on hands, for something he needs to keep doubling-down on if he fails at, with the chance for disapproval compounding from 5% to 10% to 15%, etc. Compared to a really good stats cleric (say 18 personality) who has a 65% chance of getting it right, who can probably survive a string of bad rolls better.

To be honest, when you said what the room was, I fully expected him to do that. Suffice to say Oloorin really isn’t caring for Justicia after the whole monks event. I need to story wise find some mechanism for a bit of peace between he and Penchus.

Well considering the locale we’re tromping around, I’d say the likeliness of finding a common enemy to bring the two of them together is high. Another great session last night. Have to wonder if letting our new orc friend go will come back and bite us in the ass later on. Unless we find a growing tree down there somewhere we will have to come back out this way hehe.
