Yeah, Humphrey and Oloorin also rolled poorly, but at least Humphrey has an ungodly AC, provided he doesn’t fall in any traps any time soon.

Yeah Gundabar is saving his pennies for some good plate armor, though I’d hate to see what his movement speed would be hehe.

Happy Halloween. See you next week.

On another note, thanks for the input on my one shot game I ran last week at DeanCon. I used both of the puzzle ideas we talked about, and generally they worked well. I promised to bring the adventure in at two hours, but it took me four to run it. I don’t know what I was thinking. I also ran it for 9 players, which is foolish.

Also, I am playing Hearthstone. I totally dig it. I am Robboqt3 so friend me up if you are in the beta.

Glad it went well Rob, you had some really cool ideas set up for that game. I’m shellfishguy#1919 in the Blizzardverse, would love to play some hearthstone with you. I’ve been really enjoying it so far.

I’m out this week. I am heading up to Vermont for a game convention.

I’m sorry this game is on life support. I am especially sorry because I saw that Justin’s game was in a similar state over on BF.

Thanks for the heads up Rob, have fun in Vermont and go lick a maple tree.

Oh good, my family has been visiting so I didn’t even get to check the boards to see what was up on Thursday.

Any chance we are on this week?

No, I’m out tonight. Warmachine got bumped to Thursday this week. And next week is Thanksgiving, so that’s a bust.

I was watching people play D&D on twitch the last couple of nights. Some games were on Roll20 and others were table games that people had set cameras up in the room. One of the games had 3,000 viewers, but most had 10-20. They were interesting to watch, but not exactly riveting. D&D is a slow game in general, so watching 10 minutes of any game doesn’t really convey the experience. I think the same is true for us, but it doesnt feel slow as the DM (you players might have a different take on this). And then, after a couple of sessions, you have epic moments like “There’s a box in the box!” and that’s a great payoff.

Things of note:

-the games with video do add to the experience, because you can get a better understanding of the what the players are trying to communicate (I’m not saying we have to do this)

-some of the games are run with random pickup groups from the twitch user base, and they are the slowest to watch.

  • 3,000 people watching a D&D game is pretty cool.

Playing D&D (whatever system) always feels like it flies by to me. Even when it’s someone elses turn, I’m so invested into whats going on that it never feels like its dragging to me.

Agreed, even though combat took forever in 4e, I was always engaged and having a good time…often loosing track of time.

Any chance we are on for this week…or is this dead?

So Roll20 just published a ton of improvements, including being able to split the party across different maps!

Hopefully we can get some gaming going again to take advantage of all these awesome changes.

Looks cool, though with the holidays fast approaching I’d have to imagine that we won’t be playing for awhile yet. Remaining hopeful though.

I don’t consider our game dead…just resting.

I like the improvements of Roll20. I will definitely check them out.

I hope there is a company out there building a virtual tabletop that does not give the DM and players the tools to build their games from scratch, but instead creates an adventure and NPCs, and uses its own rules, and just gives the DM a set of keys and says here you go, the work is done, just go play and have fun. I want the Neverwinter Nights that never was.

I think we’ll start playing again after New Year’s.

Cool, glad to know the campaign isn’t dead. I have been yearning to get back to Oloorin and the crazy ass magic system of DCC.

If only WOTC* had been able to deliver on their VTT. With the wealth of D&D* modules out there that they could have prebuilt in and sold, I think it could have been a cash cow if properly implemented.

*Or Pathfinder, or any other mature system with lots of modules to pull in for that matter.

Are you guys listening/watching any good online rpg games? Or in person games that people record? I’m listening to Nerd Poker occasionally, but I’m guessing there are others out there.

I really enjoy listening to the Critical Hit campaign over at Major Spoilers. It’s a pretty long ongoing campaign using the 4e rules.

I listened to that for a while, but then lost track of it. Loved listening to it, I believe I left off right after they ended up on the moon or some such.

I picked it up right on the last episode of that section of the campaign. The section that followed (in the feywild) is really a fun listen.
