I’ve seen the Playstation LCD in EB’s. Has anyone used one of these LCD addons? How are they?

I might be interested in the Xbox or gamecube models.

thxs…

AIM, seriously, what is the matter with you? Every other week you are talking about buying a new gadget, yet a scant six months ago, you were lamenting bitterly about your bleak, hopeless financial situation and how you had to work out some sort of loan-shark payment with your mother to pay off your current debts. Is all this hi-tech computer equipment set up in a urine-stained U-Haul box outside of the ghetto Sebben Lebben or something?

IMHO they all ghost and are crappy.

Just get a pc one.

Unless it is for portability, get that nice 17 inch planar with the 16ms response time. Dell sells them for like 400$ if you wait for a sale and have the coupon code for 10% or 15% off. Great LCD and you can use it for more.

I think there may be an NEC or Sammie with that response time and TV in, also, if you dont want to route it through the pc.

I hit the lottery.

:D

Isn’t it a pain in the ass to hook up a console to an (PC) LCD screen? I’m just curious… how would you go about doing that?

Some have s-video in, with mine I just use my video card. Many video cards have TV-in, so it isn’t very hard to do. I do use a switch box that lets me have all 4 consoles plugged in at once w/ s-video, although I actually prefer the TV most of the time, I really only use it when the other half is absorbed by some food network show.

Ask around on anandtech’s forums about the 16ms one that had tv in built in to the monitor, those guys went crazy buying them.EDIT Actually, I just looked around and couldnt find the one I thought existed, so you may very well need to have a vid card w/ tv-in, or buy a tv tuner

I don’t remember which brand it was but that one should work without a pc involved, I had TV-in already, so I didn’t need it and the planar matched my case.

I’ve been running my PS2 to the VIVO on the GF4, and then dumping that out to the LCD I’m using. Sure, my computer is just a big ol’ expensive framebuffer, but it looks good.

That’s how I play with my Xbox. I can capture screens for reviews this way too.

I was looking at the ones for the GCN but ended up going with the DVD in a bag from Audiovox. It’s much more expensive-$399 but since it’s got av inputs you can use it with any device (many of the console specific screens do include inputs but not all) it’s also got 2 headphone jacks which is nice. The screen detachs and you can also add additional screens to it which can be nice in a vehicle. I got ours primarily to keep the kids happy when were traveling.

Chronic

Why wouldn’t you just use a television?

Because it’s the drug of the nation-- breeding ignorance, and feeding radiation.
