Lazy, you don’t even play HoN.
I think part of it is reaction to the meta where the support literally just healbots and avoids taking cs/kills at all costs from the AD carry. By making the heals on a much longer CD, the support is forced to be more active in a fight.
Hey, I’m almost level 3 with like 20 matches played! Also, I didn’t realize it for a while but there’s ingame voice chat in HoN. So you can hear random people being assholes anonymously on the internet! As Shadow put it, it’s like Xbox live on your computer.

Thanks, that was pretty cool.
But you play HoN so its confirmed! :p
Having never played a, uh, MOBA before, I decided to check out LoL last night.
I went in pretty much blind, never a good idea with a complicated game, but what the heck. I played the tutorials, read the new user guide, and decided to jump in a co-op game as recommended. I picked a support champion (Soraka) as I figured I could follow someone who knew what they were doing and be of some use.
What followed was over an hour of nothing. Slow directionless pushing back and forth down the lanes making little progress. I finally just had to quit out because of how late it was getting.
I don’t fault LoL for this as I realize this is not how it’s supposed to play. But it is a consequence of the blind-leading-the-blind thing that goes on when you put a bunch of newbies in a game together. It also reminded me why pickup team games are so frustrating. I’m going to keep at it of course, but the combination of the overwhelming amount of incremental customizations in the game and truly tedious play experience was a pretty unfortunate intro to the game.
So you didn’t friend anyone listed in the OP? You should play a couple of games with people who know what they are doing and can provide guidance. Makes a huge difference.
I’m sure, I definitely will do that. I just wanted to get my feet wet first so I don’t totally embarrass myself.
Just to be clear, that post wasn’t meant as a critique of the game, just relating my experience.

I like playing with new people. Add copet14 if you’d like.

Join and message any of us in the Steam group to get info on voice comms, a lot of us arrange games through there. Some of us, myself included, are happy to play co-op games, they’re pretty relaxing if you’re experienced. :p Having people teach you will be far more useful than trying to learn from the game.
I’ve tried it, didn’t particularly like it. Nasus needs to farm Q, and you just don’t get as many last hits with Q in the jungle as you do in a lane.
That sort of thing is most common when you play support champions at low level, as you are unable to influence anything directly yourself (at least not in any meaningful way).
Play stuff listed as tanks or mages, they are generally easy to play and also very forgiving (especially at low levels). In addition their abilities have very obvious uses and grant immediate satisfaction (Hey look I just blew someone up).
We all sucked at one point. Add me to your friends list too, and I will try to help when I am on.
Edit: and don’t forget to use the facebook connect thing to unlock Tristana.

Just won a ranked game in spite of the fact that the taric on my team rushed… Nashor’s Tooth?!?
Then CDR Boots, Banshee’s and GA… Like… If we are rolling this hard dude should buy some wards and an oracle.
There’s nothing wrong with an attack speed tank Taric every once in a while, especially if you’re winning!

Protip: Master Yi is the best noob stomper around.
I remain entirely capable of being carried to victory by my teammates as Taric.
Huzzah for Qt3ers!

In that if you’re a noob and you pick him you will be stomped, yes.

Lol, pretty much, most of the tanky dps are noob stompers but Yi is definitely not a pub stomper.
