Kayle takes too much effort to play well, and is too easily countered by plenty of other champions. Her heal only holds off mild harassment from enemies, it costs a lot of mana, and taking it means you do crap damage on Q and E.

Don’t be afraid to use E to extend your attack range in order to kill creeps for gold while being far away enough not to get harassed. If you do harass with E, it’s almost always after hitting them with Q first since it increases your damage on them and slows them down.

I loved Kayle when I first started playing this game, but then found other champions with more fun mechanics that are easier to lane with and survive (like Cho’Gath).

Also, someone mentioned not using the recommended items list and instead looking up a guide… meh. Play a bunch of characters first, then ask here for guidance. Lots of guides are awful. Until then recommended items are fine for a lot of characters, even if you don’t understand why you’re getting physical damage items on characters that have abilities based on magic damage (ability power or AP) (like Miss Fortune, Ezreal).

But she’s cool looking. :(

Yea they recently redid all her art and the new model looks beautiful :)

Just did my first Malphite battle. Went really poorly for a while. 8 deaths which is super high for me. Switching from Rifle Lady to Malphite is just a total brain reset.

But eventually, after I leveled up a few times things went better. I started using his powers better (maybe not “correctly”, but better). By the end I had like 6 kills, and 6 assists to go with the 8 deaths. Which sounds pretty mediocre, but they really all piled in there at the end. Also I was playing the middle lane for the first time, which was an eye opener. So many ambushes! And with Rifle Lady, I could protect my flank with traps, not so with Malphite. On the other hand he routinely survived stuff that would have vaporized rifle lady.

I remember when Malphite mid was actually something people did, since his q was so fucking broken.

On a related note, old skool pre-nerf Xin here. That was some excellent pre-release testing Riot did, yessir.

Man, I hate dumb teams. Had a game where it was gota-farm-them-all. Ashe ended up with 300cs, and two other characters 275. But we lost. Why? Because people like Ashe would be off farming, when I would initiate the team would run away, and Zilean was always close to the front of our pack… BAH!

Also, while you should be attempting not to die, if as Malphite you die but you helped kill everyone, you did a good job.
