I donāt think it has to do with specialising, and more with tanky being stupid and bruisers being too strong.
God damn it, yet another shitty ranked game. Only had time for two games in two days and both crap. Tonight first pick was Lee Sin, jungling. I took Irelia. Then the next three players ALL TOOK AD CARRIES. It was fucking hopeless. I faced Garen who wisely bought a Doranās shield and managed to out harass me, which was extremely annoying. He then just bought armor and health and pretty much ignored our entire team and our turrets. Of course, we lost, but we lasted a lot longer than we should due to a very capable Lee Sin. I got rolled. Couldnāt get to the back line as everyone else tended to focus Garen, leaving me to die in the back row. Couldnāt kill Garen. 956 ELO and ongoing losses due to complete tools. FUCK.
I really need to make some LOL friends in my time zone. Games just seem too random.

Yeah, well, that is the reason I just uninstalled, Calistas.
I played four games that were all plagued with some kind of issue- leavers, feeders (Annie was 0-11-0, never used her bear or any spells) and assholes. In each game, my team refused to surrender, and I ended up playing for 40-50 minutes. So, that is something on the order of 4 hours of my life that I will never get back. After the fourth time I just took a hard look at the situation and asked myself āwhy am I doing this?ā
The answer was because I really like the gameplay when the teams are balanced, and work together. The kind of gameplay that never actually happens. So, I uninstalled. I donāt mind losing, but I do mind being chained to a game for 40 min to an hour when we never had a chance of winning. Anyway, rant over. GL HF all.
Hey, I had something of a 12 game losing streak where every game I played had a leaver or an outright feeder on my team. Itās gotten better since then, though my ELO dove a lot. I was over 1400 ELO at one point, then got under 1100. Now Iām back around 1300 and climbing.
LoL is the best game Iāve ever hated. I love the game, but canāt bring myself to play it due to quitters/feeders/trolls.
As you climb up the ELO ladder a bit, this tends to happen less. Both because there are far fewer leavers, and because when a team gets the advantage off say a 4v5 situation, they know how to capitalize and finish the game far faster. A 4v5 should never go for 40 minutes, as the other team should just dragon/baron, snowball, win.
This is why I hate playing on my US account, which is far lower ELO than my EU. The games on US tend to suck more, even if I get to carry a lot more often.

It really goes in streaks. Iāve had ten game streaks where Iād honestly say 8-9 out of the 10 games were decided by quitters.
Iāve recently been on a long streak where I donāt think Iāve had a single person go AFK (other than maybe a minute or so for what was obviously an honest disconnect).
I will say that even at that, and even at level 30, probably a majority of solo games seem to be decided by whether you get stuck with the guy that goes 0/7/1 in the first 15 minutes.
This game has the quality of making you feel like you really have some skill when you play with a decent team, and then making you question that skill when you get stuck with terrible players. For an āaverageā player, you realize that all of those articles about getting out of ELO hell by just stepping up and carrying your team arenāt realistic for you. My last game last night I played Annie. I avoided dying and went 2/01 in the first ten minutes or so. That clearly wasnāt going to offset our Olaf, who decided to keep trying to jungle on their side of the jungle, giving up seven deaths in pretty rapid succession. He wasnāt even a troll or intentional feeder - he kept apologizing. He was just terrible.
The problem with the notion of an individual just stepping up and taking over is that it requires: (a) that you be an incredibly exceptional player, which is probably not the case if youāre playing solo queue at lower ELOs; and (b) requires the other team to be fairly functionally stupid, as Iāve found in League of Legends that with most characters pushing too hard to dominate the game just ends up leading to your own death.
Itās like they say with football quarterbacks - when youāre behind and try to press and make up a lot of points, thatās when you end up getting intercepted and destroyed even more.
One of the not so fun elements of a game like this. Not only do you have to make decisions on how to spend your hard earned IP points, but you donāt just factor in the current state, but the likelihood that your chosen champion is the next one to get nerfed into being a joke.
I understand why they do it (balance attempts are a good thing in my book), but it still sucks picking a couple of characters because you like their style, aesthetics, whatever (not just because you think theyāre OP) and then having them get blasted into being jokes.
Kind of why I rarely play as a tank anymore.

I donāt know⦠Iām not sympathetic to the ip side of that argument given that all the 450 ip champs except for Kayle are still really viable, and also i think that if you start ascribing any kind of value like āhard earnedā to f2p funny money like ip then you will never climb out of the rabbit hole. On aesthetics sure, but isnāt there a client-side skinner if you want to look at pretty?

So, I like Leona, but it feels like it really takes a while for her to get into gear.
Does anyone have any opinions on Nocturne?

But I donāt want to play the 450 ip champs, because everyone plays them (also because I already own all of them).
Iām not saying itās the biggest deal in the world, Iām just saying it sucks a bit to spend 30-40 games worth of IP on something and then have it nerfed to hell.
I played against one last night that killed an Olaf about seven times in ten minutes. :)
