That’s not what happened. She was buffed, but no one cared, because she was Eve, and everyone knew Eve was awful. Then that Sorakabot guy posted about Revive/smite jungle Eve and, hey, wait a minute, he’s at the top of the ladder and that’s actually viable and not only is it viable it’s actually really good.
But if she hadn’t been buffed, that wouldn’t have been viable, and she wouldn’t have been subsequently nerfed.
My current problem (with Tristana): Say that all 9 other players are going at it mid. I can’t figure out when to run in there. If I go too soon, I die immediately (especially thanks to Annie). If I hang back too long, I feel rude. Especially when my teammates die. Anyway, I guess that is something to work on.
Your job is to sit where it’s safe and shoot the best target you can hit from your position of safety. If that means you spend the whole fight shooting an ulting Alistar, you spend the whole fight shooting an ulting Alistar. This, incidentally, is why Last Whisper is good for ranged AD–you’re going to spend a lot of time shooting tanks–and why Black Cleaver is bad–you’re going to want to switch targets fairly frequently, and the ramp up time is annoying. As ranged AD in general you do not go in, ever. As Trist…well, if they’re running and you can use rocket jump to get kills and chase, okay, do that.
This is complicated by the fact that human opponents are going to want to kill your ass, and will likely have one or more champions capable of jumping to you through your team. These champions, if you sit and shoot at them, will probably kill you, so you’ll have to start learning to kite them.
If you’re only playing bot matches, be aware that bots usually target the player with the fewest hitpoints. Not lowest percentage of health, fewest hitpoints. So if you’re getting focused and dying, buy something that’ll give you health and be useful; a Banshee’s Veil or maybe a Frozen Mallet. It’s like running from a bear. Just have more health than the next guy.
