Vayne is way more bursty than Trist which is really helpful in fights.

Ult -> Roll -> attack -> E reset auto attack-> attack, at that point it’s pretty much GG.

Not sure I’d count her invis add on for the roll, but whatever.

AoE is a disadvantage early game? Odd power then. Well, whatever. I personally like her and like the aoe/activated E.

I think an AP Trist can actually outburst Vayne, I’m serious.

Trist’s AoE is not good, or you are maxing it far too quickly.

This is Trist’s problem. As a pusher/farmer, she is eclipsed by Cait. Piltdown is a better farming ability than Trist’s E (scales with AD, is organically maxed first; Tryst should get a point in E and W and then max Q. Q is ok for farming, but it’s not great for farming and isn’t as spammy as Piltdown), and Cait has traps to help with area control. Her escape isn’t quite as good but she has one. She might put out superior DPS to Caitlyn but I’ve never looked at the exact numbers and can;t really speak to that. Caitlyn enjoys superior range for a (good?) portion of the trip from 1 to 18, has a better ult for damage dealing -it both scales with AD and does physical damage - and has a spammy high damage skill and of course her passive. I would be curious to see numbers but I doubt Caitlyn lags that much by damage potential if at all. Being a superior pusher/farmer means she has a better chance of realizing her potential.

As a damage dealer, Vayne is eclipses Trist. Vayne doesn’t push as well, though she has an escape of sorts (a poorer one than Trist, certainly; though it’s arguably two escapes if you want to count ults, and her ult is better in this regard). But she’s a better damage dealer. And she closes like a motherfucker.

Yes, because you only want to push when the time is right. Trist’s AoE isn’t toggleable and it pushes. That isn’t to say that she can’t control a lane at all - I’ve done it many times - but it’s harder to do because of that AoE.

Like who you want to like and play them. Trist is fine. But she’s not considered a top tier carry and there is a good reason for that. It doesn’t mean she’s useless. At the ELO most of us plays at, the advantage/disadvantage isn’t particularly relevant.

because you can’t turn off E, so you push lane more than necessary if you want to last hit, which bring up the point of you putting your lane in danger of getting ganked.

That’s because AP trist has the highest ratio combo in the game, saying that she beats a Vayne is silly given that Vayne is sustained DPS and not burst :)

Also, don’t play AP trist. Oh and Peacedog, you always max W first on Trist not Q. EWWQWR :: R>W>Q>E

I love Tristana. I’ll have to try Vayne at some point.

I find I don’t get a whole ton of kills with my Trist, but I get a decent number of assists, kill a lot of towers, I can generally hold down a lane so long as it doesn’t get worse than 2 on 1, and I don’t die much. Rocket jump out of ambushes and such, or use the big blast to get baddies off me or fleeing allies.

Carries frequently have to switch targets and also kite tanks/people whose job is to run through the fight and trampoline on your face. It’s not necessarily a bad thing to rack up assists and not kills (the average person playing this game -e.g. a basement dwelling moron - will of course claim you are bad/playing wrong/etc just because the kill score isn’t high enough).

And taking towers is critical. Trist is good at that. She’s not the best pusher, but she is a good pusher, and good pushing/counter pushing can swing a game. A single character who can chew through a tower is very valuable to a team. Yes, it’s nice to decisively win fights and then take towers with the survivors, but it isn’t always possible. If an AD carry can come through a fight reasonably intact, you not only stand a better chance of doing this, but you can often take multiple towers. And towers in different lanes (depth trumps width of course, but sometines you can’t get two towers in the same lane).

What other mid AP carries you recommend? Annie just gets banned every game and Brand is a bit expensive.

I play cassiopeia but she is pretty hard to carry with.

I am super bummed they discontinued the Mac beta, without even announcing its end (e.g., in the news). I know nobody in their right mind games on a Mac but I was really looking forward to playing from the lobby of the car service center.

I saw it in their news, also saying they were refunding all the money to whoever wanted to (closing the account).

Someone talk me into Oriana. She has only ever seemed annoying, not high deeps and not awesome CC (good, but…). I am almost certainly wrong, but I want it explained :)
