The European Mr. Coffee is, as ever, correct. But this is tangential to the point which was simply that as elo increases, unbelievably retarded games–and a game in which you’re 60:30 and lose is unbelievably retarded–become significantly less common. Comebacks in general, as previously explained, are also less common.
I pretty much only play normals (although after the season ends I’ll probably transition to ranked), and the overwhelming majority of them involve ten players who srsbsns. Trolls and such do exist, but they’re rare.
On this note, what’s it like running a melee ad carry + support in bottom lane? I’m thinking about a farmed Nasus here in particular, but what about tryn/yi-types in general?
Trynd maybe, but most bruisers need levels just as much as they need farm, so putting them duo is suboptimal. Additionally, the healing nerf means it’s going to be a lot harder to keep the melee alive in the face of persistent poking from the Ashe/Cait/Vayne on the other team, and while 1v1 most melee are going to wtfpwn most ranged ad, the support changes the dynamic dramatically. If Taric stuns you every time you use your gap closer, you’re going to die horribly.

I also like the whole “Whenever you get up to MY amazing elo in normal!” thing people are saying, considering you can’t tell what your normal elo is.

If I wanted to brag, I’d just do that. You may have noticed me posting scoreboards before.
It’s not possible to view your normal elo, true, but it’s easy to infer a fair bit by checking the profiles of the people you play with. If you never see anyone with a solo rank, that tells you something. If you never see anyone with a solo rank below 2k, that tells you something.
i’ll be shocked if we get dominion this year. It’s slowly going the way of magma chamber and project shiny I think.
What do you infer when you see someone with less than 20 ranked games?
LoL’s matchmaking is great compared to a lot of other games, but it’s hardly perfect or even always sane. Once when I was level 20-something I got matched up in a game against ACTUAL RIOT EMPLOYEES (we obviously got pasted). That doesn’t mean I had 2000 normal elo before I hit 30.

It’s a little odd that you would post this not long after you took McKnight to task for losing the plot, given that all I’m saying is that as you move up in elo totally insane games become significantly less common, as do hilarious/infuriating comebacks. Do you disagree? If so, why?
If Riot’s employees are as good at LoL as most of ArenaNet’s employees were at Guild Wars (with like three exceptions), I’d go up against a Riot team over a team of random pubbies any day. :P

Speaking of losing the plot, my post was that I think it’s silly how you are basically saying “Shut up forge, you suck, if you were my elo everything would be different!” when you don’t know what your elo is. Your post about how everyone you play with besides yourself with is rated over 2000 elo is just cake.

I had a sentence in there explicitly stating that the 2k thing was just an example and was not me, but I took it out because I figured that was obvious. My mistake. Let’s be clear though: you think that if someone were exclusively playing with 2k people in normals that wouldn’t be an indication that they’re pretty high up there?
