In other news, I laugh my ass off at some of these games. 1280 ELO now after a win so stompy we took Baron at 17 minutes (we’d have taken him at 15, but my team was slow getting there) and had 2 inhibs at 20 minutes.

You’re playing Ranked, so I assume you’re level 30, but you didn’t do enough matchmade games to get Kayle? Matchmade games include bot games and normal queue, otherwise I wouldn’t have got her (level 20).

I had another awesome game last night. It was solo queue. Someone took Karma and said, ‘first time Karma’. That is nice. She is free anyway. I like when people take support champs in solo play. Anyway, after about five minutes she said, ‘Karma sux!’. And quit. So no we are 4v5 but wothout the level benefit we would have if it was since the start of the game. We hang in there and the game is pretty even. Somehow our Akali takes out both towers guarding their nexus. Then they aced us. So we decided to try to bnack door them. Akali goes up one side and gets killed. Meanwhile I run up the middle while all of the enemy are stomping our akali. I use jump to avoid being seen by them, go straight to the nexus and destroy it before the enemy gets back. GG. I never did anything like that before and I only did it because someone else on our team told me too. After it was over I noticed my heart was really racing because I was all alone in the enemy base and I was afraid I would get caught.

Now all we need is for maxle to come here and tell us how this sort of thing doesn’t happen at his high elo.

Why? Thoughts and comments? I laned against Riven and Shen as Jarvan and although both were capable I would have feared Irelia more. Perhaps the other guy was too new to Riven.

So when you guys are talking about your success at ranked, are you talking about truly random, solo queue ranked?

Because I’m currently floating at just under 1200 after the reset (was under 1,000 before the reset), based solely on solo random matchups. While I’m not good, I am rarely much more than 1-2 deaths below .500, and am generally above .500. Yet I’m something like 5-14. I can think back to at least 50% of those losses that had an AFKer on our team.

Essentially, I’m trying to figure out if I’m really terrible and not realizing it (I honestly think I’m about average skillwise - not “average Qt3er who has played 1,000 games,” but average ranked LoLer) or if something else is going on.

I mean again, I’m rarely seeing people even trying to last hit, etc. I understand the concepts (I’m not the one getting ganked trying to randomly push a lane way up completely isolated from my teammates), and I know I am putting them into play better than my teammates, because I don’t even see my teammates trying to last hit, not focus the opposing tank, etc. So it’s either poor execution on my part or a limited sample leading to deviated results.

Keep in mind that while people at 1200 elo aren’t good at they game, they’re better than most; it was quite a few pages back, but being bronze put you in the top 30%, IIRC. This still applies until you’re, I dunno, 1800, maybe higher.

Also keep in mind that people new to rank start in that range, so you’ll see plenty of people who don’t belong there.

1200 is a mix of terrible people on their way down and really good people on their way up since it’s the starting elo. Until they segregate out people with few games played in ranked, i think you want to be above 1300 or below 1100 if you want relatively stable games.

Things that are funny/sad:

My team is grouped up, we see a Taric over extended in his bot lane so we sneak up on him and kill him. None of his team mates show up so we keep pushing to the inhibitor tower. We get there and only Ashe is there, so we push down the tower and inhibitor and kill her. The remaining 3 people STILL aren’t there. We take another inhibitor tower and inhibitor and finally they show up, with Baron buff. I think we get another tower before leaving.

So they traded 2 deaths, 3 towers and 2 inhibitors for Baron Buff. The play for Baron wasn’t necessarily bad but it took them waaaaay too long to get it.

Of course I lost my next game when Renekton fed Malphite top and my team comp was Urgot, Teemo, Renekton, Veigar and Nocturne against Irelia, Talon, Vlad, Malphite and Yi. No one on my team besides me built armor pen or blood razors, and the other team stacked armor and warmogs. Bleh.

You start off judging like 3 per day, then it goes up to 10 per day, and if you keep at it you can get 30 per day.

I’m still at 10 per day but that’s because I’ve sorta stopped doing it.

They didn’t fix his weaksauce ult shield, though buffing his AP stuff is kinda helpful I guess. I don’t see the Vorpal Blade buff turning him into an actual jungler though, he wouldn’t be a particularly good ganker and he doesn’t build like other AP tanks that can jungle (Amumu, Cho), so that kinda leaves him getting Wriggles I imagine.
