Someone brought this up on the official forums and one of the Riot staff said it just wasn’t a viable option. The elo loss forgiven stuff they do isn’t set up to be applied retroactively in the way required after the game, and it also mean that people who were going to lose would just get someone to leave before the game so no one else lost any elo. It is very obviously open to easy gaming of the system by groups if you think about it for a few seconds.

It requires someone to take an extra big hit, and the other losers still take a hit. I don’t think it would be gamed very much by anyone bright enough to count.

If you did something like one person took a double elo drop and the other players took half the usual loss, then a team of 5 could take turns leaving when they are losing and all have a net reduction in elo losses. If the leaver took a ten times greater drop to make sure that you couldn’t game it in that way, then a team would have a “take one for the team” account to prevent the rest of them from losing elo. The kind of people who take this game seriously enough to play it 30 hours a week and scream with rage when they lose are exactly the kind of people who would go through the effort to do it.

I think nullifying any game where someone never connects during the initial loading screen (as in, before the game proper starts) would be a sizable help against disconnects/leavers. Hell, it’d be around 20% of my losses right now…

The player gets kicked out if he never connected and you get requeued.

I assure you, I have had games where a player never connected and his character just sat there as we fought 4v5.

gg tonight Pogo and Copet and crew! Hope I didn’t mess up my CVs too badly.

Oh, and the manamune was a misclick.

GG man. Yeah that Manamune surprised me heh.

Then he connected at one point and left after champ select (not dodging).

I was thinking the biggest group would be 2, given that it was solo queue. Simply don’t apply it to 5 man ranked, but I do see your point :)

He disconnected during the loading screen (the one where there are all the bars and you finally see your opponent’s summoner spells). He never reconnected. We 4v5’d and lost.

Exactly what i said then.

Sure, but I see no reason why that shouldn’t nullify the game and send you back to the game queue.

I remember there is a way to see what an opponent’s build was in a game that is several games back.

But I cannot seem to find the option of how to do it now.

I went 26-0 in a game against beginner bots. I should move on to fighting other players…

Because he was connected through the whole drafting and only disconnected when the game was loading, how are they going to know he isn’t going to be connecting again.

How are they to know he is? How do they know that people who disconnect after the champ picks but during the swap portion won’t reconnect? The same argument applies.

edit: Ross, you should play against intermediate bots first. ;)

So what’s the consensus on best solo top champ pick? Renekton seems pretty beast, but so do Irelia and Jarvan and Jax… though Jax seems more of a noobstomper than a viable ranked champ if I ever manage to pull my ELO above this cesspit.

So no ranked Solo Queue any time soon. GG Riot.

Why not anytime soon? Their post just says it will be down for the weekend, no?
