If so you are far better off just dropping the 20 quid on the Champion pack or whatever, given that every champ you buy costs between 3-6 quid. IP is also infinite, so why be in such a rush to save it all? Either way, buying single champs with RP is just a bad idea (maybe if there is a sale on).

Since a couple weeks ago. I bought her, played her once, and realized I’d probably never play her again. She’s really hard ( especially to farm with) for a 450 IP champ.

Yea that’s the most mind boggling part of it, she ain’t easy to play (which is what I thought the brief for 450 champions was, champs easy for beginners to pick up). She is loads of fun though, so maybe there’s that.

Side note: Poppy is possibly the most Overpowered champion in the game with farm (Riot and others have openly admitted she is unbalanced), if your opponents give you a lane she can handle she is an extremely good asset on any team. The problem of course is that last part, which is why she isn’t seen much in standard play.

I do like the Taric changes. The new ult seems more useful than the old.

I am using teemo now and is… GREAT!. You can use the fungus to negate the jungle to the bots, and scout, its deadly early on (even if a bit squishy). My new favorite.

I also found this, from the chinese version:

Indeed.

Why do Chinese folks get art that’s 6000 times cooler?

I had a ranked game lost to an AP Taric that got fed on top lane to a Talon, it hurts so much.

For some reason, I just get destroyed by Sion as Renekton. Absolutely stomped. Any advice?

Buy some MR.

Seconding this for Tyjenks, by the way. Buy maybe one or two 450 IP champions. But if you decide you like the game, it’s worth shelling out the $20 for the champion bundle. You get 20 champions, plus some RP (which you should only use for skins), plus a free skin or something like that. There’s a second 20 champion bundle you can buy if you like as well, if you’re really into the game, and feel you need even more variety.

You can also certain save up and just spend IP on champions (and not real world cash), but the bundle basically comes out to be a $1 a champion, and it is kind of nice to have the IP available to buy all the runes you want at level 20+ without having to feel like you’re farming IP for it.

Did they same something else beyond their first post in the Announcements section in the forum? This is what I read (emphasis mine):

“Unfortunately, these changes must be done while the servers are offline. In order to reduce the impact of these issues on our pre-season, we will be disabling Ranked Queues this weekend. While the rank queues are disabled, we will be temporarily enabling the ability to play Normal Games with Draft Mode. We will be doing maintenance early next week in order to repair ranked queues so they can be re-enabled.”

So it looked to me like they intend to have this resolved by Monday or so. (Of course, I understand your more general point about Riot - they intend to do a lot of things in the near future that don’t seem to happen.)

What are you starting with? Why are you dying (or being zoned, or whatever)?

I’m guessing you’re starting with a blade, and the problem is that after an initial exchange he pops a pot and gets lots of health back while you, um, don’t? If so, start with boots and pots.

More generally, if you have the damage to pop his shield, jump on him as soon as he starts it up. If not, consider waiting until after he hurts you with his stun/shield combo and then burning your abilities on him (save the second activation of your dash for moving away with a quickness). His burst is better than yours, but yours is still considerable.

That’s all theorycrafting, as I can’t recall having 1v1’d a Sion as anything other than Jarvan. Grain of salt.

Consider taking Garen vs Sion, as the silence/spin combo will cause him all sorts of pain.

Boots + 4 pots (waiting 10 sec after creep spawn). And dying.

He pops his shield when he’s far away and then comes in to range when it’s a few seconds from exploding. He does so when I have to choose between getting creep kills or eating a stun + shield combo.

He just does so much DAMAGE when that shield+stun go off. And if I try to fight him after it, he has a ton of minions (because he’s been nuking mine), so I take huge minion damage. :(

You have boots and a double dash (assuming you proc it off one of his minions, which you should). Is he really so far back from his casters that a double dash won’t reach him?

If he is, then you have to between getting wtfpwned and missing creeps You know the correct choice. He doesn’t have the mana to repeatedly cast his shield for no gain. You’re using the bushes, right? If he walks in with no sight, you get to stun/combo him and, hopefully, down his shield.

Beyond that, I didn’t say fight him after he combos you, I said use your abilities on him. Renekton isn’t just a burst champ, but he does have burst. Use it, then back off.

I still think buying the 400 gold MR item is a good idea.

I find myself feeling like I don’t contribute much, as kat. Sure, if I get ahead in money or levels I can own face. And I do OK in lane early game, harassing fairly well without dying. But when late game comes, unless we’re roflstomping them I don’t feel very useful. I often have few minion kills and I don’t get a ton of gold.

Maybe I should try a different champion? I often feel like I’m playing for myself rather than the team, as kat. Also at the selection screen when everybody picks squishy characters there’s nothing I can do about it.

A question: what’s the “IP Boost” section of the IP you’re awarded after a game? It’s been saying (not enabled) for me today. I thought it had to do with surrenders, but we just won a game proper and I still didn’t get it. Is that because of the ranked maintenance stuff going on? Or maybe it’s like a rested exp thing.

Renekton also has a little built in sustain from his Q. It’s been nerfed a lot, but a lot of times you should be able to slice between the melee and caster minions, cull all six for some health, and dice back out again. Usually at worst in that match up Sion will have shot his stun at you and it will land after you’re safely behind your minion wave, and you will have gained as much health as you lost, while he used a fair chunk of his smallish mana pool.

See I read it as “we’re gonna start doing maintenance on Monday but we have no idea how long it will take to fix this or when ranked will be back.”

They probably aren’t working on it this weekend. And given their track record of fixing things expecting it done by Monday is folly.

Congrats you’ve just discovered why Kat isn’t popular. She’s a squishy assassin who can roll faces if she gets fed early but it generally not useful against more composed teams and is easy countered by hard CC.

IP boosts are something you can purchase for REAL MONEY or that Riot enables every so often as apologies. They’re shown on the post game screen to entice you into purchasing one.
