Watch a high elo stream for an entire game to see exactly how long these guys prioritize farming (the entire game). Seriously LoL is a game of farming, this cannot be emphasized enough.

Well… yeah but that’s the cold hard truth that doesn’t need to come out for the new guys who think the game is about skillfully using your abilities and getting lucky in the laning match-up.

I would rather know the lay of the land and attempt to play competently. At least, that is, during this honeymoon period while I am all fired up.

It’s like a faster-paced Harvest Moon.

Man I wish.

Somebody should link either the aforementioned last hitting guide video, or such a high elo video. That would be like, helpful to us noobs who are potentially bad at the internets and don’t know good LoL teams by name.

An important part of last hitting that’s not covered by many places: getting last hits under your tower. In lower level games I was quite often pushed back under my tower and had a hell of a time last hitting until I sat down to figure it out.

The melee minions can take two tower hits and a single autoattack, while ranged creeps take one tower hit and two autoattacks. So to kill melee minions under your tower, let the tower hit them twice then attack yourself. For ranged ones, hit them once, let the tower hit them and then tap for gold. Of course when you have +damage items, or your creeps / allies are in the mix it’s not always that simple, but it’s still helpful to know. Experience will let you get better at knowing when to last hit.

The other side of this coin is that lots of lower level players dont learn this, so if you can push under their tower while not taking that much damage they’ll get zero farm while you are far less impeded. That’s risky due to jungler ganks, but I don’t think you’ll see many junglers at your level.

Generally if you go to:

http://www.solomid.net/streams.php

or

http://clgaming.net/media/livestreams/

You can find at least 1 high level stream that is active. CLG, TSM (or Team Solo Mid), EG (or Epik Gaming) and CrS (Curse Gaming I think) are 4 of the top North American teams that all have active streamers. The streamers tend to range in how instructional/talkative/ragey they can be. If you prefer something more EU flavored Fnatic and SK Gaming both have active streamers, and there’s the ever popular Guardsman Bob stream as well.

Personally I watch CLG Saintvicious a lot because he’s a high level jungle player and I like playing jungle champs. He does tend to point out stuff that can be useful to everyone. He also plays drunk a lot when CLG isn’t involved in tournaments, so there’s that too. This doesn’t mean he’s for everyone though. In a way streamers are like radio hosts, you have to find one whose style bot of play and commentary you find acceptable.

blue, are you better now?

Better than when?

Than I was a year ago? Probably. Than a few months ago? Eh, not substantially.

It also depends upon what role I’m asked to play. I think I’m decent enough at tanks/tanky dps, and my jungling skills are decent. I can only really play one AP carry reliably (Malzahar) and while I can hold a lane as a couple of AD ranged carries I’m not aggressive/aware enough to really win too often or rack up kills.

I also have a tendency to focus more on farming/pushing/dragon than on team fights.

I certainly won’t be getting any invites to join CLG or TSM any time soon.

Thanks a lot.

I have been here every day for the past week. It is not a video.

Just click on the highest viewed streams for the best of the best players.

My personal favorites are Saintvicious and Voyboy, both of them point out their own mistakes and take the game lightheartedly. HotShotGG rages too much, which doesn’t actually bother me except that he’s not all that funny when he does it. Same with Rain Man, though Rain Man likes to hoot and holler when he’s trying to escape with 20 hp.

One of the key ways that watching those streams even for a short while will help you understand creep killing is that they use their abilities and auto attacks in conjunction in order to kill as many creeps as possible in as little time as possible. You will also see how attacking, moving, attacking is beneficial to positioning yourself even when you’re not in danger, because danger can come at any moment and you want to be in the best place for an escape or counterattack at any time. Seconds matter.

He’s still not good enough to carry you in ranked, idrisz, I’m sorry.

Heh, everything in the game is an odd number mate. It’s impossible to buy anything and not be left with Riot points left over/just out of reach of something else. They is smart ;)

Click videos, click on a game. Watch it. Quite simple. They only archive high elo games.

In a less condescending fashion (because I’m not Idrisz), filter by chaox and watch any of his marathon videos. He’ll walk you through any champion you like and provides commentary on his play the whole game through (I feel like I’ve said this before like 2 days ago or something?).

Alternatively, like mx said before, post what champions/what style of play you like and I’ll happily recommend you videos/streams you should be watching. I’m good but I ain’t a savant.

And yes, I’m pushing Chaox a lot for general recommendations because I’m really enjoying watching him at the moment. Even more then Tree, which I didn’t think I’d ever say. Bias ftw! ;)

how am I condescending? He asked for videos, I linked him to solomid.

If I linked a rickroll video or www.google.com, then I was probably been an ass, but right now he sounds like a jerk.

on the front page of the webpage, it reads Home -> Stream -> Guide -> Video…

since he complained, I’m gonna link this guide to last hitting.

Last Hittin’ With Urgot:

Just watch how good Chaox (the player) is at last hitting. It’s really sort of an art.

Careful with learning from Urgot. His Q lets him last hit from half a screen away, or he can fire it after an auto attack to kill faster and push the lane. It’s rare that you get a mana-using champ that can immediately cast a low-cost spell in order to secure a last hit.

But it does show that that’s the kind of science that goes into last-hitting.

It was a joke mate, relax.

Also Irony. You might get it eventually.
