I don’t agree, unless you’re at a level where you can pick literally anything and win because you’re just way better. Carries should not be sharing farm.

I lost to an ashe + caitlyn lane recently. Therlun was there. He hates me now.

Well, yeah they’re supposed to be getting a couple kills if they’re gonna do that. I shoulda added that caveat.

Twisted Fate advice? I’ve tried him AP and didn’t do well at all, AD/AS and did decently, but the guides I find on solomid and elsewhere share almost nothing in common and one half are out of date in regard to his ultimate’s nerf and the other half talk about it and just say they’re shelving him until he’s updated and given back some power.

I bought him on a whim, but I’m not ready to write him off as useless. I haven’t had much luck with Wild Cards being helpful, but maxing Pick a Card and Stacked Deck can seem to help the team with powerful gold card stuns.

I’m just really lost on items, runes and masteries for him for that style of play and wondering if it’s even the right way to go. Currently trying some variations of 9/0/21 as far as I can get with my level, magic pen marks, various seals and glyphs and no clue what quint would work for him aside from maybe swiftness. I try to get Merc boots quickly as every enemy team I face seems to load up on CC and then start assembling Trinity Force with Sheen first. That seems to take a long time though, and I have played with getting sword of the divine out quickly as well to mesh with Stacked Deck.

Not the losing thing was annoying, but that they managed to kill you 8 times at your tower (several times at your inner tower.)
Neither of them is a very good tower diver… so I assume you just ventured out too far again and again.

BRY
RYB
YBR

Memorize that shit by repeating each one in sequence in your head.

I don’t like rushing a TriForce. Pick AD or AP.

AD:
Armor Pen, choice yellows (flat armor I like), MR/lvl blues or CDR blues
ArPen quints

Dorans Blade
Boots+pots
another Dorans if you want to keep farming, or Zeal or BF sword if you can afford it
keep farming, upgrade BF sword or Zeal, or buy BF sword if you still dont’ have one. if you don’t, you probably lost your lane if your enemy is good
I’d usually build a BF into a Bloodthirster, combo that with Zeal>Phantom Dancer’s attack and move speed and you’re a deadly AD champ in general.

Your strength is really Pick a Card for the stun, and of course your ult. Q and E are sort of relegated to being almost useless, but I’d max W>Q>E because Q will still hurt other carries.

On any AD carry I pretty much go 21/0/9, with that 1 point in mana regen.

AP:
MagPen, choice yellows, CDR blues
MPen quints

Doran’s ring
Boots+hpots
Sheen
boots upgrade at some point to Ionian (CDR)
Needlessly Large Rod or Blasting Wand> Deathcap ASAP
Get blue buff
Lich Bane eventually

If you’ve got 1600g or close to it, forget the Sheen and go large rod

Q>W>E, you use your Blue Card to regenerate mana, usually on a last-hit creep of course. Your Q is your damage and pushing ability… clear whole waves with that and Red Card. Don’t forget to use Blue Card or Red Card on their towers, it does damage.

Masteries are typical 9/0/21 with the magic pen, and of course Flash+Ignite great for any AP/AD carry build if you want to secure those kills.

You of course still want to use Yellow Card for most situations. The stun is the most powerful thing he has in terms of winning the game… after his still awesome ult.

Sword of the Divine is crap. There’s no “mesh,” no “synergy” just because of what his E does. His E is magic damage and the fact that SotD works in a similar fashion, it doesn’t really mean anything. Hell, Malady would be the better choice if someone were going to actually care about E’s damage (definitely an AP/hybrid build).

He’s a high skill cap champ that is… somewhat rewarding when he works out. Knowing when he can finish someone off, and when it’s wise to do so, via use of his ult is really important. His ult is also somewhat low cooldown so you can sometimes use it to just reveal the enemy team when the situation may call for it, and in some cases you can find someone out of position and take them out before their team can respond.

Good tips, thanks, yeah the sword of the divine only really worked out sometimes on some experimental AD/AS builds I was trying as it would just make that stacked deck attack hit very hard together with it, but it doesn’t seem as great as it could be. But it’s really crap eh?

MPen Quint over more AP? And do you really need doran’s with blue card or is it more for the survivability and the extra AP? On almost any game I’ve been going boots + pots first as he just seems so awfully slow. Read a couple people now suggesting Sorc’s Boots, but I like your suggestion of Ionian more for even more card tosses. Would you get Merc’s if there’s lots of stuns on the enemy team or are you pretty much dead in that case anyway if you get caught? And how do you usually handle blue buff in random games? Should I just go grab it when I think I’m capable? Guess I’m still new enough I’m not sure who needs it more than me.

I’ll have to try your AD build in a while, but I’m on an AP kick right now until I get horribly beaten with it again. The wild cards appear easy to dodge but when they do connect…damn.

Heh, I was confused as hell at first on reading that. What you need to remember about Pick a Card is that it doesn’t randomly go through the colors, it cycles through them. So if you want to make sure you’re picking the right color you can just let the other two colors flash past before your choice comes back.

Pogo left out my favorite occasional TF, which is the AS/AP on-hit TF. It’s basically Lichbane and Deathcap again, but with Malady and Wit’s end thrown in there, and if a game goes really long maybe lulz it up with a Bloodrazor.

I also wanted to quote this for pure truthiness, and point out that you can say that no matter what champion you are talking about. The only time anyone should ever buy SotD is if there is an enemy Jax who bought Ninja Tabi and is getting fed. “It gives you a lot of attack speed and 100 damage every fourth attack!” doesn’t synergize with shit. Not on anybody. If you want cheap attack speed with on-hit damage, Wit’s End costs the same but gives you the equivalent of 168 damage every fourth hit, and gives you a bunch of MR.

Ah, I see. I was ignorant of Wit’s End, looks like a pretty nice item to use if you’re going that route. Did a couple more practice games and the suggested items really worked well. Still shifting the order around, but the Ionian and Deathcap alone make some of the Wild Cards pack a punch. Yellow runes are still up in the air, but the other suggested ones worked great. Using flat armor for now, but I guess I can choose almost anything even Clarity for some of my mana issues at times. Toyed around with Malady late game too, left me amused as if I was playing Kayle again at least slightly.

Kinda wish the color of the cards that randomly came out would have their effects attached and then have the black ones do some extra damage or something, but it’s plenty powerful as it is.

It was good playing with the guys on mumble again last night even if we lost. Been too long since I logged in there (bad Cougar, no cookie).

I didn’t really have a problem with Urgot top, except for two things: Urgot likes killing squishes daly game, and solo top in the current meta is typically bruisers, I got Gragas low (and won my lane), but I couldn’t get a kill on him. Secondly, Holy crap do you need teleport on top. That dragon fight would have been much different if I could have TP’d down instead of gotten there way late and walked into the victors. (note we didn’t decide on me taking solo top till the load screen)

One normal and one draft game tonight and both had leavers and both had utterly awful players. Got both the leavers and couldn’t carry with so much terrible around. What is going on with the queue?

Dear God, that sounds fucking awful.

And yea Mazuo, Dorans Ring is 100% necessary even with Blue card. I’d even recommend getting 2 or 3 of them. But I’d recommend actually starting Boots + 3 pots rather then a Ring, and then picking up 2 on your first back.
