Hmm. This happened with both an external USB mic (not headset) and with built-in MacBook speakers. Maybe it’s a Mac thing. Everyone knows Mac hates gamers.

I would assume it is a feedback loop issue and caused by proximity of speaker to microphone?

Eh, try to find troubleshooting about the Mac version of Mumble then I guess.

Yup. If I have one of the first two picks I ignore whatever the last pick person says they are going to play. If I’m in charge of banning I’ll go so far as to ban a champ that someone says they’re gonna play.

Why does last pick guy have no rights? He’s a person too.

Last pick should be playing support or filling what the team needs, considering there can be anywhere from 200 elo in between top and last pick (not even counting duo-queue). Having your last pick solo against the enemies first is a really bad idea. I mean sure you might get lucky and it might work out but statistically speaking you have a very low chance of that happening.

Going along with what McKnight said, the whole point of having a pick system like LoL uses is to counter pick the other team/compliment your own picks. If the last pick guy demands to fill an important slot on a team with his champion of choice BEFORE you’ve seen anything the other team picks you’re essentially crippling your chances of putting together a good lineup and winning the game.

If you have last pick and say something completely stupid like “I’m solo top Katarina” or “I’m jungle Shaco” then yeah I’m banning the fuck out of your champion if I can. You’ve already admitted you’re trolling me so I might as well force your hand.

Let’s talk some more about drafting.

Assume for a moment that you are first pick, or that the enemy has picked someone who doesn’t need a specific counterpick, to the extent that such a thing is possible. Barring stacking your team with specific combinations of champions, what position or champion would you want your team to lock down first? Assume for the sake of argument that you know everyone on your team and that swaps will happen, so it doesn’t matter if you want to play that role or not.

Also note, first pick in Dominion is a random player.

Hop on mumble and play games with us. Playing with level 30s when you start involves dying a lot, but learning faster. I preferred it.

Mumble works for me on OSX. Make sure your audio stuff works in another app like Skype, perhaps the hardware is busted.

Yeah, it was my bad :-(. I was too drained to bother arguing with him. Most games I’m in where I get 1 or 2 pick I take top and equal or beat my opponent, but can’t leverage that into helping the rest of my team win. I need to figure out how to leave top lane and go kill someone. Or just play AP mid more competently.

It’s not possible to lock down a position, really. You could argue that there is a best tank or OT jungler, or a best top pusher, but you start talking about bot lane or mid lane and there’s no clear cut winners. Popular high-ELO meta doesn’t prove things like Cait+Taric = win at all.

This is only true in ranked, though; the order of pick in normal draft appears to be random.

Oh yea, I presumed people were talking about ranked. Normal draft is completely randomized, Riot did it to stop people trying to infer their normal elo from it (something they keep very hidden these days).

Jungler or AD carry, depending on the bans. Alternatively pick your worst player’s best character.

Cheq: us kiwis and Aussies are just too nice, really! We’re good people.

I would love to see a good list of picks/counterpicks to the champions of the week. Or in general. I enjoy thinking and reading about the meta.

Not perfect, but you’re welcome (not done by me).

If you are having trouble with a champion, don’t be afraid to ask. We are here to help, usually anyway ;)

lol

Shyvana? Really?

What?

Apparently it’s the name of their new champion.
