While I see where you are coming from, it’s the stuff spouted at everyone at low elo, it’s not going to help someone low level because teammates simply don’t know enough about the game. It’s a dice roll and from the information I have games are usually decided by whoever has the least amount of people afk. It’s also impossible for someone to “lead the game” when they don’t know how the game flows in reality.
And please don’t advise anyone trying to learn the game at a higher level to play 3v3s.
You do it the same for both.
Great! if the other team isn’t ganking and your team is, you will have an advantage.
Yeah, so encourage them to gank.
As above.
Actually, you wouldn’t do it the same for both. That’s just stupid. Laning against bad players when you are good allows you to do some truly silly aggressive stuff, while doing it when you lack experience will simply teach you horrendous habits. In addition, if I knew the general skill level of my team was abysmal then I would definitely not encourage them to try and gank. I would go out of my way to gank there lanes (if I knew I could get a killl by myself) but trying to get them to gank would be rolling the dice for a disaster to occur.
Oh and Aaron, hate to say we told you so ;)

It’s not impossible, but if they actually lead, bad things happen. Had a game today, terribad pubby TF (he never once ported with a gold card ready) convinces terribad pubby Olaf (lane, failed miserably) that he should be defending the second turret in top lane when mid and bot inhibitors are both up without towers to protect them.
Yeah, guess what happened?
Yup, when a decent player actually smacks you back when they have an advantage and you get overaggressive, you’re going to have to relearn your limits. Harassing noobs is easy.
Vylt (my business partner and good friend) and I have been in Germany for the last week, and will be for another week, so our lag and ping have been… questionable. That said, we had a shit assed game last night where we got smeared. I was close to rage, which is rare for me. Maybe I need a break?
Fuck that.
Time to play more.
Well I am basing that advice assuming that the player is actually better than his ELO would show. If he can’t read the flow of the game in a nub game (where it tends to be easier to read players), then he’s going to be more than useless at pro games.
And please don’t advise anyone trying to learn the game at a higher level to play 3v3s.
3v3s are easier for working as a team and he’ll have a higher chance of getting in a team with all good players (only need to get 2 other ‘good’ players, as opposed to 4).

Laning is basically doing your farm, waiting for the opposing players to do something stupid and over extend themselves enough to get punished or get killed. Over extending yourself is a bad habit, even in lower ranked games, it’s just too risky.

I wouldn’t get them to lead the gank, you’d lead the gank yourself, but take along the person for their disable/stun/extra damage.
Yeah, this assumes the player is actually better than the average person at their level. If he isn’t well, the first step is to work on that.

Flash is the most necessary thing for every hero. The only heroes I can think of off the top of my head that don’t need flash are singed and blitzcrank, then maybe LeBlanc, Kassadin, and Ezreal.
Another two losses tonight - straight losses on the board now! Awesome! Elo - 1064 and falling.
Held my lane fine in both games. In the ranked game we had a Karthus (last pick and not needed) who hardly used his ult - except to try and KS sure kills - and of course, he went mejais which went as high as 3. He was also first in the fight so he could omg use his passive.
Meanwhile, TF fed more, using his ult to spot and that’s about it.
I was the only person on the team with a positive KDR.
Why am I never on the other team?! LOL.

Factory, you sound like you’re repeating what you’ve heard elsewhere. It is correct information but totally inapplicable to Aaron’s situation.
He isn’t saying that he deserves to be higher rated, and he isn’t saying that OMG I’M LOSING FUCK MY TEAMMATES. He isn’t even playing ranked, so he doesn’t even know what his rating is – he isn’t high enough level to play ranked. He’s saying that he isn’t learning good habits by playing bad players, which is true.
Oh, anyone had some sort of lag or effect where your attacks don’t seem do be doing damage or powers not registering(eg, I’m “q-ing” as Renekton and not seeing creep health move)? Also, In one team fight I couldn’t flash, and heard the ‘ding ding ding’ from the game saying it reg’d the key, but there was no silence powers on the other side and I was running (so not stunned) at the time.
Also, as someone who is both 1) bad and 2) level 30, I so dearly love the naivete of assuming he’ll stop playing with bad players at high level… :D
Yo Aaron. I’m level 30, yeah? Well, yesterday I wanted to practice my Sona so I went into a pubby, locked her, then went to check on a stream suggested by espressojim. When I alt tabbed back, I saw that my awesome teammates had selected the following champions, all after me: Cassiopeia, Veigar, Gragas, Karthus. :)
And if you think THAT’S an example of bad play, look at this: At the time we lost the game, only two opposing champs had bothered to build any magic resist at all :D
Free Yorick week - after the patch and buff - what are the thoughts on his items? - he seems like a good tanky dps now
Something like:
Doran’s shield - boots 1 - Sheen - Spirit Visage - Triforce - Atma’s - Force of Nature . . .
Only run a few games vs. bots, but might have to try some live action - thoughts on items and runes?
All weekend Yorick’s were building Manamune. Usually tear->sheen->finish manamune->then it depended.
Mx and I faced a pretty skilled -player using hat Yorick build yesterday. We had a level 12 with us who was having the expected struggles facing level 30s (and a Yorick + Alistair lane combo). The enemy team got up 2x1 on kills and +2 towers. And then the team fights began. We had a skilled sona and a pretty good Kat and I was sivir. We won 3 of 4 fights decisively and the one we lost we sort of barely lost. My pro side push after we went 1-4 or so allowed us to take the interior tower mid and I got the interior tower bottom to 50%. It was basically over at that point. One more decisive fight and they surrendered.
Yorick became a focus target. I’m not sure he built tanky enough, honestly. I don’t recall what else he had.

The fuck? He’s level 12, he’s not going to know the correct call. Doesn’t matter if he’s above average or not.

In 2000+ Elo premade 5v5s, yes. Otherwise, no.
OHAI.
We won 3 of 4 fights decisively and the one we lost we sort of barely lost.
The fight that really turned the game around was the one at Baron, though, where I was just like “Fuck it!” and tele’d to the ward, and you were all “Nooooo” and I was all “Goooooo!” and then we killed them. It was great! Not that tping in like that was necessarily a good idea. It just worked out well in the end.
Turns out that when I Rune Prison Alistar off to the side while you guys pick off their Ashe and someone else, I don’t remember who, the battle rather turns. :)
I am better than the average player at my level. That’s why I carry nearly every game I solo queue. However, playing against players at my level doesn’t teach me shit for how to, for example, play defensively and not die against an Alistar/Yorick lane.
I didn’t doubt that I was going to get shat on in games full of level 30s. I’m sticking to my guns, though; I’m not going to get better queueing solo, I’m just going to win games and not learn. Which can be fun, too. :)

I’m glad to hear it! It really is the better thing to do, you just have to be the kind of person that doesn’t get disheartened by it and slog through instead :)

he got disheartened and ran back to HoN!!!
P.S…
Morde carry ARAM!!! take that Mx…
What was working for me was
Manamune into Atmas then BV then phage. I was planning to build the phage into frozen mallet and not triforce, though I don’t recall any of the games going that long.
Boots are tricky, Sorc shoes of all things might be the way to go to get some mpen for his W and E.
