GARIC is clearly overpowered.

GARIC can carry a level 13 scrub to a massive stompwin against a rampaging Udyr.

In all seriousness, if you’re a newbie, consider playing with mxlm. He doesn’t rage, and when you do stupid shit he just goes “Oh shit, I should have told you to chill in the bushes and run if they come near, my bad”.

Anyway, 5man Qt3 premades are so much more fun than pubbing, holy shit.

Garic, baby. Garic.

I’m…going to let someone else comment on this. Heh :)

Warwick can jungle with any setup.

Udyr makes me very sad. I wish he would go away forever. I wish tiger stance would go away forever twice.

What kind of bizarro world mxlm are you playing with? He is second only to Pogo in raging and screaming at his own team.

So I enjoyed playing Leona so far. Pure tank, not much in the way of damage, but it’s kind of fun running around with her orbital laser drawing fire.

Gangplank is now my number 1 ban. I hate him more than anything. I’d prefer a TF, Annie, Udyr team to a team with Gangplank. So damn overpowered.

OK, so I’ve been practicing Janna, and when I get back to the states I’ll try her for a while with you guys, if that’s cool. I kind of dig her though she’s boring as hell.

Thoughts on Leona? I’ve only played one game as her but the ult is a bit uninspiring and cooldowns a bit high. I’m building standard tank stuff, I think FoN over Banshees is a good choice because she doesn’t need any mana items and is a bit slow.

I fucking love Taric. With or without Garen.

The pink armor skin is on sale as of Tuesday, going off sale soon. I highly recommend buying it. It is the best and only way to play Taric.

Regarding upthread: it doesn’t matter how good you are, it doesn’t make it okay for you to be a jerk, and putting a smiley after admitting to it doesn’t make it okay.

Some people on the stream (chat) of Dan Dinh were saying (because he was facing her) that building her with heavy CDR and slow items makes her a beast.

And polluting the thread which is win win for those of us who like watching the petty thread drama ^_^

Experienced observers will note how the use of the anime smile really brings out the flavor.

But but but they removed a stack. Since he only has a fully stacked 28 % passive slow, he’s totally balanced now!

I love Leona, as her skillset really seems to sit well with me, but definitely not building pure tank. I go tanky DPS starting regrowth pendant->philo stone, boots1, sheen, boots whatever (speed, cds, merc and tabi all viable depending on what you need), then finish TF. Have been building hexdrinker on her some too to up the MR and damage. Aegis is solid also. If I’m building tank it’s after the TF and it’s going for CDR tank items like glacial/frozen. Late game I’m converting the philo into shurelia’s or the tenacity item as needed.

I think I tend to be too ignorable if I build pure tank. I haven’t tried building AP yet because the ratios are so poor, but I could potentially see a rylais as useful, as well as abyssal/zonyas.

I get all three skills my first three levels as she really seems to need them to be effective, then max W (the shield) as it’s my enabler to survive initiating. 70 MR and armor at rank 5 seems, frankly, too strong, and the damage is solid. It lets you initiate tanky without really building much tank. My skill order is basically R->W->E->Q. I favor E over Q because you get more damage per point and it can hit multiples, and the points in Q reducing CD isn’t a big deal when you tend to use E and Q together.

In teamfights I’m trying to initiate with E, start my W, stun a carry with Q and then drop the R on their head for a double stun or hit as much of the enemy team as I can.

I tend to get a lot of lane kills (well, asissts mostly), with a partner because the E skillshot is so fast that it (for now) catches people off guard. I used to hit my W before going in with E but I find that it telegraphs your intentions too much, causing people to back off, so I hit it after I zip in and hope I’m still in range (it has a large aoe radius) when it pops.

I really think she’s a ton of fun to play.

I am surprised you don’t see more AS GPs to take advantage of keeping people perma-slowed.

Anyway, picked up Udyr and got a bot game with him (no time for more) and he is a lot of fun. Blue’s build shreds creeps in one or two hits (and at more than 2 hits a second that is pretty fun) and bad guys just get pasted. At least, the bots do.

I love his versatility when it comes to rampaging around the map doing damage and dropping stuns.

I havetried to dig up a couple of videos and I have noted a wide range of builds. Discounting AP style I have seen tanky-GP5 (guardsman bob a while ago. It didn’t seem to do nearly enough damage) through to Warmog’s and bloodthirster and Atmas from Rain Man.

Overall I really like Blue’s approach as between Wriggles (which goes so well with him) and Wits End he ends up over 100 in AR and MR. That is with me taking dodge yellows and MR/lvl blues.

Anyway, Thanks for encouraging me to try him out.

Depending on the situation do you ever feel the need to start W before Eing in? Lazy and I, as Cass and MF, laned against a Leona Renekton combo last night. It went bizzarely swimmingly, aided by the fact that we “casually” harassed Renekton to 40% health as soon as the creeps showed up and then both Renek and Leona got tentative (and then we kept chasing them out of lane with the occasional kill).

I noticed two things about our opponent Leona. One, it didn’t appear she had ever actually played with Leona. I haven’t played with her live and I would expect to make mistakes but I ad least took for her for a spin in a bot game.

Two, she frequently did not have her shield properly primed. The damage part usually missed us, though it still usually popped the second shield due to hitting a creep. She wasn’t that good with her E (granted, Lazy and I were being highly mobile and MF especially can be a jitter bug), but a couple of times when she landed it to initiate her shield wasn’t ready. By that I mean she either popped it a second or two later or on one occasion I’m pretty sure she E’d after it ahd already exploded.

I know for maximum defense you’d like to zoom in, pop it, hit a champ with it, and then get 3 more seconds of insane defense. Her Q should allow her to hit an enemy champ with the shield consistently. This player wasn’t doing a great job with that. And if a player isn’t at max health, it might be worth while to prime the shield and dash in when it’s almost ready to go off.

Anyway, Lazy and I carried hard to make up for Angel failing mid.

I was hitting W, then Q, then E and initiating.

I was in a long game that was eventually lost where the Plank built philostone PD, PD, and then a negaton. I can’t remember his boots, I am pretty sure they were CD. It’s not enough damage to really scare someone, even with the frequent crits. It wasn’t at all effective.

Now let’s say he trades some attack speed for some sanity. Say, Black Cleaver + PD. It’s less speed but you get Armor Pen + 55 damage. That might be worth trying. Alternately you could go starks to really push the flat pen advantage, and have like 450 gold or whatever for wards. And a crapload of life steal for everyone!

I absolutely prefer to hit W before E’ing in, particularly if heading into CC, but it tends to telegraph your intentions and people will really try to dodge the E. The E itself has very little animation and is very fast (maybe the fastest line-skillshot in the game?) and is really easy to hit with when people don’t see it coming. If there’s people on both teams gathering for a teamfight and poking it’s generally pretty easy to W first before E’ing in since there’s just so many people you can hit with it.

I was a baddy and didn’t try her offline prior to playing her versus people because custom games were not working at the time, but I went 5/2/9 my first game with her. I’ve yet to see any other Leona I’ve played with or against go positive score, though. I’m only 2/2 with her, but at my ELO 75% of my games are determined by which team gets a leaver and that reflects that (4 games, 1 5v5 win, 1 5v4 win, 1 4v5 loss, 1 2v3 loss).

To some degree, you can say the same about solo queue vs. 5 man games. There are certain things I do in 5 man games now that I probably wouldn’t do in solo queue (early oracle on some junglers for example), as I’d place more emphasis on my ability to carry a bunch of randoms vs. the best things to do when I trusted my team.

I haven’t solo queued in months now, as I don’t really like the game nearly as much as playing with a well coordinated team where people both react to calls as well as (mostly) know what to do.

Hey, some people can actually do that. I’m not one of them. I’ll wager there are more people in my situation than not. E.g. it took a few practice games to get the hang of Jarvan’s E+ Q. Though that’s got a certain timing to it; waiting for the flag to drop and once you fire Q there’s a slight lag as Jarvan does his spear twirly shit. As you note, Leona’s E is super fast. There’s not really a wind up or anything.

Certain types of champs I feel more comfortable with than others. her skill set wasn’t exactly comprised of new mechanics. I can play amumu, nasus and sion so an on-next hit, a skillshot grab and a shield that pops for damage were all things I knew how to use, and if I can land rumble’s ult I can land hers.

Compare to Kassadin where I can play five bot games before playing against people and still can’t seem to do better than 1/10 with people on my team saying they will report me for feeding. Some champs I just can’t seem to ‘get.’
