If you can run a Trynd well with a full page of Crit runes, you’ll rack up the triple+ kills and see lots of people ragequit. But I agree, Trynd is complex/hard to get the hang of - I’ve never had a good game playing him and most of the time I wince when I see one on my team. :(
I’ve seen ENFOTHESLAYER (highly ranked US player that mains Trynd) have games where he absolutely carries his team in an extremely dominant show. …and yet the next game he can flop as he plays too aggressively (gotta be bold with Trynd) or gets stun-locked down.
Just had a rather good game with Trundle where he finally seems to have clicked with me. Got a few double kills, and was going head to head with their Olaf and winning. Final tally was 19/7/12 I think, and while the deaths were a little high, pretty much carried our team to victory.

I haven’t seen a Trundle be played very well yet. Mostly it’s people putting up gigantic penis pylons in the middle of a team fight, which doesn’t help anything at all, unless your goal is to annoy the shit out of your tanking Cho’.
Lunar - seen any good streams where they talk about how to play Trynd well? I find it hard to find good tutorials vids. I almost think I should do some - I’d like to demonstrate the particulars of a character, ie, just how to control a lane with X toon, specific strategies in a team fight, etc, etc, except I’m not good enough :)

Trynd is really good if played well, his spin + his shout allow him to chase well, and his Ult is just such a pain to deal with. And it always annoys me how often in team fights everyone aims at him first, and then he pops his ult. He’s also really good at popping towers solo.
Alas, no. ENFOTHESLAYER is the only high-end player I’ve witnessed that “mains” Trynd and AFAIK he doesn’t stream so you have to see him via proxy (I often see him on Roku’s streams between 10pm and 2am Pacific).
http://www.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=315213 is a good guide, though the author is obviously wrong when he says that Trynd isn’t viable top-tier (ENFO’s 1850+ rating is proof.)
Thanks! I’ll check it out. I really reckon there’s room for decent video tutorials. The items and runes are easy to describe in a guide, but the where to be, when, is much harder.
You hurt my feelings. And after I killed Chiffy and everything.
Also, the penis pylons are there to keep people from running because you cannot resist their sexual magnetism. (There’s an AoE slow aura.)

Present company excluded of course. I don’t think you put it up in the middle of a fight.
Well, I like the fact that the penis pylon acts as an environmental block, I think it’s a great touch to keep the enemy team from escaping after initiating a fight.
Been having some good games tonight. Went 28/8/16 as Morde. Finished with 5100 hp, Atmas (244 damage) and Guardian Angel just to piss them off. Bloody awesome.
LOL - 11/3/11 in a 35 minute game (surrender). So much fun - same team as above. Very nice.

They can regen if you’re in the area and don’t pull them carefully (normally you do golem/lizard from inside the nearby brush so it’s harder to steal them/gank you).
He’s not wrong in pubbies, though. I’ve seen lots of Pro Trundle penis placement. e.g.:
I am chasing a summoner around a corner or down a lane. Trundle sees this and wants to slow the enemy summoner down. What does he do? Place a monolith such that I have to run around it. It only partly catches the enemy (basically on the back end), and it’s enough for them to get away as I lose a precious moment (or worse, several as the pathing freaks the fuck out). Or have my chance to do something like BB disrupted.
I have read a few malphite guides and so far I am underwhelmed. What runes do I want to use, and what I should I start with? Boots (if not jungling)?
First pubby attempt I had huge mana problems in lane (even using 6 blue mp/5s). I probably poked too much, considering it was me and Cho versus Morde and Karthus. And the Cho was objectively awful (he finished the game - 52 minutes - at something like 0/19/8. Yes. So I assume he was new to the character but holy god. Also, we were 5v4 the entire time and got absolutely housed).
Start with a Doran’s ring and don’t use your Q till lvl3 if you can help it.

Start with a meki pendant and build it into a chalice.

I have to agree with McKnight on this. Doran’s _______ is necessary for early lane domination. Extra health also makes his shield absorb a bit more.
Roku and TreeEskimo both go saphire -> catalyst. Strength of spirit is very popular to regen a little bit of health, and they focus on Q harrass once they are level 3 (level 2 Q.) Your goal is to Q the opponent, and only take at most enough harass to break your shield, while farming effectively. This will drive the opponent out of the lane, or set them up for a gank by the jungler, or a kill when you hit 6.
You can’t help but see high ELO malphite games, because he’s either picked or banned in every game I watch.
I normally 2v1 with Malphite, so I always start with Dorans. I’d be way to low health with just a Sapphire Crystal and Movespeed Quints.

You can get away with sapphire if you have health quints (i do this with gragas sometimes), but if you use some other type of quint, you really do need doran’s XXXX to be able to lane effectively.
Holy poop. Just brought up my favorite high elo stream, and freaking CHIFFY is on the opposing team. He’s playing Sona, so he’s probably one of the lower level players, but he’s got Hotshot GG on his team. Wow, I laned against chiffy 1v1, and didn’t totally die. Happy days?
linky to recorded game
Yup, that is why we always stack his team with the less experienced people when we do qt3 5v5 games, and why I am excessively proud of killing him as Trundle when he was Nidalee.
