If I could maybe draw people’s attention back to the amazing google spreadsheet, makes things nice and simple rune choice wise.

Also for people who just hit lvl 20 there is a rune page which will give you the absolute best value for money (IP, whatever). That is Mpen Reds, Mana Regen Yellows, Flat Health Quints and Falt CDR Blues (you can go scaling if you wanna make it cheaper). This page benefits practically every champion in the game and is cheap to boot.

Once you have these your next purchase should be ArmorPen Reds followed swiftly by either ArmorPen Quints if you play a carry or Flat AP Quints and Blues if you play a caster. Dodge yellows are extremely expensive and only worth it if your willing to go down at least 9 defense with your character, which is usually not the case with a fresh lvl 20 (as your better off finishing one tree then taking a bit of everything).

Magic Res Blues are pretty decent to get instead of CDR but it’s a personal choice (and it does counter the fact everyone and their mother runes MPen and 9 in offense) but more CDR is never a bad thing… Well except when you hit the cap then it’s horrible ;)

Booooo! Movement speed quintessences are the way to go!

None of those attacks are dodgeable.

In fact, I’m pretty sure that all the attack-modifier abilities or abilities that do attack damage as their base are undodgeable and work 'through blinds.

They can save your bacon and get you more kills than extra health does, but I can see the attraction of 100 extra health at level 1.

You don’t have to run faster than Udyr, you just need to run faster than your teammate.

Hmm, dodge seems highly overrated then, since it only covers a small fraction of attacks. Still probably really good against some of the physical DPS champs like Trist or Yi though.

I’m not gonna care about cost/benefit ratios with runes. I want the best runes that I can put into a slot, not the most “efficient” ones.

There is no one best loadout. All the runes people have suggested are good for certain characters or builds. What some people are suggesting is to start with a cost effective basic set and then start expanding from there to runes that work better for specific characters you play a lot. No character can go wrong with cooldown or magic resist but one may be slightly better than the other depending on your build.

Pogo - perhaps tell folks your fave characters to play and you’ll get pointed in the best direction?

Folks: My wife and son are back in the country today so no more all-evening LOL for me! I will be around quite late (for you guys) and will still be playing, I just don’t expect to catch most of you any more. Awww.

Thanks for the introduction to this awesome game and for your patience in putting up with my newbness! It has been a lot of fun and I’m still completely in love with this thing.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks and to explain why you might not see me on Mumble (during your play time) much.

Come to the EU mumble! Copet plays there alot too.

I can figure out what I need to have a leg-up in laning as long as I figure out how much armor/MR rises per level.

Anyways I thought it was pretty obvious now that my experiences are mostly Kayle/Cho/Ashe.

Dodge is great because it pisses off carries, of which you’ll usually see two or more on the other team. The best thing about it is that it negates on-hit effects like red buff and Madred’s, and it doesn’t become progressively less useful over the course of the game like all the other stats you get from runes simply because you stack more and more of them. The worst thing about it is that it’s unreliable. Also the Nimbleness mastery is great: 10% extra move speed when you dodge something can save your bacon.

Also, flat AP runes? Really McKnight? Those are the fad these days? Spending all your blue and quint rune slots to get less than 25 AP doesn’t SEEM very useful.

One of my friends does flat AP with pantheon, it makes that repeated stab in a cone shape thing extra deadly at the early levels(1-10). I suspect Corki would be much the same. Granted i think the last patch nerfed some of Pantheons stuff.

Well actually fotm is scaling AP blues with flat AP quints. Which gives you like 26 AP at the start of the game (with 9 in offense) which is a huge.

It used to be an entire page of flat AP which just hurt…

Never noticed that Mastery. Since I have all-yellow dodges, and speed is an issue with Morde, I’ve dumped my offensive stuff and picked up the dodge for fun. I tend to pick up 40 magic pen in items + 6.6 in runes anyway. The 15% is a pretty meh addition (since it’s calculated after the flat pen).

Heartseeker Strike scales with AD. Grand Skyfall and Aegis of Zeonia scale with AP, HSS and Spear Shot scale with AD.

It doesn’t make much sense for an ability like HSS to scale with AP. See also Judgement (5 attacks) and Gatling Gun. In fact, Corki’s the same- Gatling Gun, Hextech Shrapnel Shells and Rocket scale with AD, Valkyrie, Phosphorus Bomb and Rocket scale with AP.

The way Riot try to balance it is that phys damage scales with AD, magic with AP except ultimates which can scale with either. It’s not always true- Body Slam scales with both but does magic damage, I believe.

So… now we must ban Nidalee AND Vlad when doing 5v5 against chiffy!

No. The correct answer is not to play 5v5s against chiffy.

I’m happy to play with or against Chiffy. Any time a player hands your ass to you is a learning experience. It’s also an ass-handing experience.

And who doesn’t enjoy a good ass-handing experience ;)
