So when he talked about “just us two” he was lying? How uncouth.

If there’s going to be any plushy it has to be Amumu.

Um, no, I don’t believe it was those guys unless they were all smurfing and all terrible/trolling. None of the player names matched anyone I’ve seen here, or their smurfs.

I think the wires are crossed somewhere.

What are you still doing in this thread? Go play HoN, you traitorous former LoL player. :P

Rip freaked at Phinneaus in a game yesterday afternoon. It was a misunderstanding and we quickly smoothed things over. But he’s very quick to rage these days, because he thinks everyone hates him and he’s already twice tried to commit mumble suicide.

Kog’ Maw.

Give me a Malphite pet rock

Sounds like he needs a break. Games should be fun, if not, move on to another one. LoL and DotA games definitely have a rage component that gets annoying.

Peace: I must have experienced the second freak out. It was justified, but pointless. In other news, Bluemax is up to 1291 rating! Well done!

Ripplez has been barred from the EU mumble before, and is well known for that sort of thing. If anyone has any problems with him please let me know as he is on thin ice as far as the EU community is concerned and I’m in no mood to have him acting like that elsewhere aswell.

Justified? I don’t remember who you are in game, and I can’t think of exactly who was in game at the time (I think Inigma, Therlun, and Natterstein were 3 and can’t recall the fourth. Lazy maybe. Are you Nat?) so maybe you were there. There was nothing justified about it, and it was very attention whoreish.

He showed up and started asking if people were annoyed with him (“like with Steelside”), wanted to play with him any more, wanted him to leave the mumble server, etc. The thing is, he was doing this in a channel where an active game was going on. We were all, you know, doing all sorts of game-talkey stuff, and that’s on top of the actual sound the game generates (which is a considerable amount). I didn’t even catch the entire gist of what Rip was saying, and I feel like I absorbed more of his rambling than everyone else did. No shit people weren’t paying attention to him there (a sign he misinterpreted because he misinterprets things frequently).

And people have gotten the way they ahve with him due to (1) very erratic in game behavior and (2) the fact that he’ll show up in channel while other people are in a game and continually ask if there is room for one more next game. He’s not the only person who shows up to get in “next game”. Everyone else just asks “are you guys going to play again?” and maybe “how is the game going?”, and then waits to see if there is another game and if there is room.

That ship sailed some time ago.

Peace: for the second time, this was an entirely different game. It ran about 7am EST, not hours most of you are on, and it was me, Rip, and a bunch of pubbies. Rip got frustrated, justifiably, at the worst Eve I have ever seen, which ruined his laning as TF.

The only thing that bothered me about that game was the team not accepting my surrender requests until we lost at 38 minutes.

QFMFT!

I think ripplez finally picked on the fact that some people refuse to play in any game he’s in because of his in-game behavior, which leads to him having emo meltdowns where he asks if anyone would want to play with him even if there was an open slot.

Of course because he won’t use a mic I have no idea what he’s saying when I’m in a game since it almost completely drowns the text to speech out for me. I just assumed he was doing his usual “Is there a slot open? I’m up for a game. Is there a slot open?”

The text to speech thing is annoying, and yes, he does emo a lot. Just saying this was a dif emo rage.

Oh, I do wish bunny would create a “waiting for LOL game” room, it would save a lot of people hopping in and out of active channels.

Oh, I am TinyPirate in game. Haven’t been on chat for a while due to baby duties and Fraps recording.

?

Also peacedog we’ve told Ripplez before not to do things like that.

I’ve turned off text-to-speech entirely. It is an extremely obnoxious sound to me. I told him to stop being emo last time he did that while I was there, but it seems he takes it personally when people make a game while he’s in another channel or whatever, or that anyone in Mumble who isn’t playing LoL is ignoring him or something, when in reality it’s become a cool place to meet up and play various games for quite a number of people (we love you Bunny).

What’s kind of annoying me is when people tutor the way I tried to “tutor” in L4D2. Everyone does it at some point, but I’m starting to realize how useless it is and how much it stands out nowadays; When you give advice in the framework of a cynical question, like “What the fuck are you doing?!” or “Why would you get that item?” Not only is it wasting time to type/say while things are going on in game, but it’s mentally distracting.

Sometimes it’s hilarious though… like Lazy asking Therlun what the fuck he was doing when Therlun ran back into a 2v1 while playing Singed.

Ripplez just needs to get a mic, end of story.

I’ve been thinking about ways to make DotA games less frustrating and rage inducing. I think part of it has to do with the snowball effect that having constant deaths on one team cause along with game lengths that can last over 40 minutes on average.

Have their been any variations where instead of a tower being destroyed, it changes sides? This might actually cause more snowballing, but it also might make the game go faster, instead of a depressing death spiral.

I was also thinking about having no levels, everyone starts the equivalent to level 9 or 10, where they can specialize in a couple skills but can’t fill out all their skills to max. On death, you get a chance to respec. It would certainly speed up the beginning.

I also contemplated taking a random non-consumable item away on death, which could allow for turn arounds on a snowball, if people manage to drag down the guy who is 20 kills and zero deaths. Of course it could just allow great snowballing as the losing team might have no items at all. This could be mitigated with some heuristics like only if the hero had 4 or more items, or only if killed in enemy territory (so you lose no items when defending)

I’d definitely want to avoid Bloodline Champions, as it felt entirely awful to me, with <2 min rounds, but getting the game length down to 20 minutes might at least make it less annoying when you get stuck with morons.

That happens a lot when people have temporary lapses of common sense and do something stupid.

Or when people initiate expecting their own team to attack. :P

That was sort of the situation. What was hilarious is that you were just not saying anything while Lazy was repeatedly going “WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?! SERIOUSLY, THERLUN, WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!”

At least I’m pretty sure it was Lazy and not mx.
