Been playing Taric all day, read all the guides etc. Started out trying to follow the basic Merc treds, chalice, aegis route, basically cool down reduction, resists, and armor. Meh… bad heal past lane phase, and an ult that will OOM you in about 5 seconds.
So I started really taking a look at his abilities, and trying some different builds. Everything about this character seems to scream attack speed and damage to me. I played a few games where I built items that gave both ability power and attack speed, i.e. nashors, stinger, malady. Worked really well.
His Q (heal) get’s a 2 second CD reduction for every hit he does, and there is no time between when that triggers. I.E., if you attack fast enough, that heal is just up all the time. Couple this with his passive (7.5% of his damage per hit mana back) and you can literally stand there and chain heal all day long and never even dent your mana.
Now the real kicker was his Ult. There seems to be wide spread complaint about running out of mana too fast, and how semi useless his ult is. I couldn’t disagree more. If you can actually get your attack speed up with a nashors and a malady, you can leave your ULT on full time as long as you’re attacking something, and barely lose mana…it’s fairly silly.
What I’m trying to come up with, is a good mix between the usual build him like a tanky support kind of character, and getting some attack speed on him.
This toon really strikes me as a classic Paladin. As long as you’re hitting something, you can pretty much keep all your abilities up full time. Seems to me like building him as a tanky support with no damage and attack speed is a huge mistake.
Impart your various wisdom upon me why this is not the case.
