Yeah im having a lot of mana problems with Nasus too, so i just get the blue buff whenever i can :p

You shouldn’t run out of mana with a blue buff. If you grab a sapphire crystal to an eventual banshee’s veil it should give you an additional combo plus catalyst gives you some nice regen while your away from base.

Alternatively you could run mana regen/18 yellows, I don’t think you need armor yellows to jungle rammus.

Starting Banshees is a good idea - but I can’t help but also quite liking the cheap little mana regen charms because they are easy to pick up when you’re not buying something more serious… but hmmm. Blue crystal to provide capacity is a great idea, and builds into a lot of stuff.

Blue buff is something I pick up regularly, but until I hit 30, I won’t be able to have that nice 30% bonus to duration and I end up running out of it far too often.

I just ran a test and without something in Yellow you come out of taking blue pretty much dead. If you have armor you can take all of your jungle without returning home and maybe even with a potion - ready for a gank at lvl 4. Or so it seems.

Another option might be Shurelyas. I do like me some cooldown! But, as you say, Catalyst is handy for a guy who doesn’t have regen and wants to spend all their time partying and ganking until team fights kick off. Hmm, Frozen Heart as well, so many options!

Hi! I created a US account: chequers.

How do I go from someone who was an average dota player 4 years ago to a decent lol player now? I can run around killing things but that’s about the extent of what I understand.

If you have played DotA for a while you’ll probably find yourself above the skill level of most players you’ll be put against at level 1. You should pick it up fairly quickly as soon as you familiarize yourself with all the champs and items. Problem is most of the beginner guides aren’t tailored for someone who already has a general sense of what they should be doing.

Otoh: If your on now we could play a game? :)

Also Cas, yea I’ve actually never jungled rammus so I honestly wasn’t sure about what you might need.

Thanks, bud, always value strategy chats. Nice thing about flat armor up front is that it also boosts Rammus’s damage.

Oh, I LOVE interrupting Trist’s jump with a taunt - I think I did that last game. Man, with a coordinated team Rammus causes so much damage. Taunts, stuns, reflection and his AOE. If he can live through being focused you are guaranteed a couple of kills, even with folks trying to run away.

I shall examine catalyst (for the Banshee’s) and Frozen Heart. Both seem natural partners to Rammus and could be included in build orders somewhere.

What are your masteries? If you are jungling anyone you should probably at least already have the experience bonus mastery in the utility tree. Just below that is the mana regen mastery, which with full points gives you 1 extra mana regen. The important thing is that it is 1 mana per second, and since all the items in game are per 5 seconds it is almost like starting with an extra Meki Pendant. It’s enough for me to clear the jungle with any character I’ve tried without starting at blue buff.

Yep, but i can only fix it if you are currently logged in.

If you are a tank-initiator like Rammus/Blitz, there are very few situations in which you wouldn’t get a banshee’s veil as one of your first items. Have a banshees veil lets you get through to their carry faster and shut him down in battle.

We had a rammus go mid yesterday. Fun game for us, it wasn’t our ramus and we won on 20 mins :) Sure he stayed alive during the laning but he did minimal farming and didn’t come close to stopping me getting my last hits :)

Copet: what if you are facing a more physical team? Good point though, I will try front-loading a Banshee’s. I still haven’t sorted out a favoured item list in my head for Rammus. Is Randuin’s still worth it? I have read here people who suggest not.

Even a physical champ ends up using some kind of skill. Maybe Banshee’s will uselessly absorb the first hit of Xin’s Q, or maybe it will awesomely absorb Ashe’s R.

If you are feeling lost I have a smurf account that’s only like level 2 or 3 and I can hop on and help you out. Since you’ve already played DotA the mechanics should be pretty easy to pick up, and the only really tough thing will be learning items and champions.

if you are an average dota player, you probably own most of the new players.

Average was four years ago guys :) But thanks for the advice, I’ll be playing some over the next few weeks. I’ll probably be mostly playing at the wrong times from you, but do you have a steam channel/mumble server you congregate on?

We use mumble alot, and you’d be surprised the times we are on ;)

It might be worth downloading the EU client aswell at some point as I know copet plays alot there (he’s japan). I’ve PM’d you all the mumble info regardless, although you will need to be “authenticated” to do anything on Bunnys.

Or it’ll absorb Ashe’s W. You know when I play ashe I spam W to pop all the banshee’s veils before a fight?

Yep pre team fight is to negate all the banshees with the volley :)

Yes, that’s right. Using Warwick, I tower dove Xin and TF. And got a double kill. I have witnesses.

Spirit visage is so great.

True. It’s easy enough to see when someone’s veil is up, and counter it with an insignificant move. In the heat of a battle though, that veil can come back up at just the right time, or it at least forces someone to put one of their abilities on cooldown.
