upset happens, but it’s never 1vs5 in lol, unless you count that time with mundo, but he didn’t manage carry even though he liked kill 3 people on our team by himself.
but it does happen even if you are losing in early/mid and lose a bunch of inhibitor, there are still magic upsets.
It’s most likely to happen if a game goes to long and the dominant team doesn’t finish it when they should. One wipe late game can be GG as the other team can just shoot down mid and take out the Nexus very quick, especially if they have a couple of the AD carries like Yi, Trist, Sivir etc.
I enjoy how Nasus starts kind of weak and builds in power all game until he’s a beast at the end. We had a good custom 5v5 tonight with Chiffy and Marlak in mid together as our carries. Then the last teamfight of the game started with Chiffy getting ulted by Malphite and focused by the enemy team while our team focused Marlak who was ulted by Thorn as Zilean.
Meanwhile Nasus AoE+q spam= QUADRAKILL! Game over man!

Kill Marlak! Oh, he was ulted by Zilean… kill him again! It was the necessary choice. Waiting for Marlak’s Get Out of Jail Free Card to run out after 8 seconds would have resulted in god knows how many people dying, so it’s better to finish him off in about 3 seconds after taking a break from his 1500 damage Parrrleys.

Aww snap Chiffy is playing on the CLG stream right now. He’s on the opposing team from the CLG guys.
I played with a fantastic Nasus a few days ago. The game was super long, we hit 60misn I think. By the end he had >300 kills and his q was doing as much as my ult (was playing tanky Cho). I forget why it took so long for us to win but at that point we killed baron in about 5 seconds and then wandered in their front door to demolish everything. Pretty inspiring.
How do I learn how to play mid and jungle? Mid seems to be “farm like hell, and at a certain point your character will be levelled high enough to gank like crazy for a bit”. Jungling seems highly structured in the abilities you take and order you engage the creeps.
Played my first three games against actual people tonight. I queued up with two friends who were also new to the game, so we pretty much got stomped. Good times, though. I had a few kills and a bunch of assists as Sona in our first game, which was probably the closest one (not very close, though).
Sona’s a cool character, I especially like how I can poke with Q and usually avoid any retaliation from minions because of the travel time. Neat stuff. I used this guide loosely because it promised me epic win. Maybe it’s like a delayed epic win, though. The good news is that I leveled up to, um, 8 I think. So next time I’ll have an extra mastery point. Pretty sure that’s going to turn things around.

If there is a VOD, can you link it?

played with my friend earlier, bad team comp on our side, we got malzahar(woo me), akali, heimer, karthus, teemo, VS Rammus, malzahar, shaco, pantheon, ashe.
I went mid(idris lane), and I manage to hit lvl 18 when the 2nd highest character on both side was only 13. basically outfarm their entire team and we manage to win simply because they couldn’t kill me fast enough in team fights since I was so stack with item.
Our initiation for team fight is karthus turning on aura charging straight at their group.
basically playing mid all comes down to good last hit skill(both on auto attack and character skill), lane awareness(through wards or mia call), and good knowledge of most of mid champion skills and their range, moving back and forth in range of creep or out of range of potential harassment from opposing champion. you can’t be too passive, I was mid lane vs pantheon, I know he had a spear toss, but he is melee and I’m range, so I decided just trade my dot for his spear but I get extra auto attack in for more damage, I scared him enough so he basically stop harassing me which give me extremely easy farms.
P.S. constantly moving is really good, especially if they have Ashe on their team, you will have lucky dodges if you are constantly moving.

I’m not sure if CLG archives their streams. Chiffy’s team won, partly because the CLG guys were supposed to switch champs with each other and then didn’t. And partially because the 3 other guys on their team didn’t work together at all.
I think Chiffy went something like 2/3/16. He had some clutch ults as well.
Saw a competent Mordekaiser last night who after his FON built a lot of AP (and no armor, topped out at 86, hmm). His listed Mace of Spades damage at 18 was 1350.
Anyone tried such a build? How did it feel and how did it do? He had Rylais, lichbane (I think, built from Sheen etc, right?) and other stuff.

I’ve seen a Mordekaiser try (and fail) at doing burst damage in a 3v3 game.

I always go for magic pen items and rylais on morde if I can. More AP if I’m able too (if team comp allows it).
Your damage output won’t reach burst levels of casters on single targets, but your magic DPS will be extreme in longer team fights.

Does anyone here play Alistar? I played a little of him last night (bought him) and never found a good build.
First build I started with a Sheen, but my team was sucking and I was dying fast in team fights so I went psuedo tank.
Second build I went tanky from the start but tried to focus on tank items that gave movement speed and CDR (the two things I felt I most needed on Alistar).
His Q->W combo is awesome, but he’s so damn slow that its hard to pull off sometimes. The first game I didn’t take flash so I missed a couple of potential head butts into towers.

It seems that if I don’t play a carry of some sort in ranked. I lose. I just don’t see how some people are so bad at the game after playing it for so long. :/

Go AD and rape towers, it’s pretty funny. Although it’s hard to get farmed up well enough.
At my Elo (1000-ish atm - been falling like a stone lately) the problem is that everyone thinks this and it ends up with everyone going hard carry and calling solo mid even if they’re terrible. One tank and four carries isn’t the worst set up at that Elo, I guess, but teams with less squishies seem to do a lot better.
Thing is Chris is just that good.
And yea mate just play a solo lane, you know you should and your swinging way below your elo right now. When you get up to 1700 then you can start thinking about playing support again ;)

Yeah I guess I should just play Corki non stop until I’m around 1600, then maybe I can start to play tanks again.
I’m far better at laning than most, and then when people instantly lock in Panth, Nidalee, and WW calling all the solo lanes (WW was jungling) I had no choice to play Malphite, our 5th was Malzahar. Me and Malz went bot and got a few kills and a tower. WW didn’t gank once and lost the jungle to Rammus, Nidalee fed Anivia at top and was crying for ganks, and Panth got raped in mid by a really good Sion. Even after the game, the other team was apologizing to me and Malz for having such shitty team-mates.
Oh well I guess I should just grit my teeth and get on with it. I’ll be out of the 1400’s pretty soon.
A Nidalee managed to lose lane to an Anivia? WOW.
