guardsman bob reinforce the basic a lot during commentary, always be farming if not ganking, and harass the other side out of the lane, but he goes mid quite often as xin, so somewhat unfeasible in most of our premade 5 games.

+1 - missed you :(

Have I missed something? Is the new mode out? I know they have more AI champs available in custom games now, but they are still pushovers.

I did but I didn’t pay attention to the bots as I was experimenting with jungling (badly :) )

I did note they had only given easy AI as an option, and they had more champs - but do they play any better?

I don’t think difficulty ever played a part.

But yeah, the new bots play better. Annie does quite a bit of damage, and summons Tibbers at the worst time (for you). Shen uses his ult and he dashes away from danger. He will also taunt you if you’re attacking a tower. Yibot does alpha strike, meditates, and builds AP. Sivir bot will own your face with a boomerang (I think I see most kills from Sivir and Annie, but an alpha strike at low health also takes you out). Ryzebot still stuns/owns people if they get in range of him.

The coding was noticeably changed, the bots dive less, and seek their own tower a bit more. The ranged bots also harass a lot and push faster. Annie/Soraka will quickly whittle down your health if you let them.

Nunubot and Alistarbot seem unselectable now though, whereas before they posed a threat, which is strange. I’m assuming their AI was retooled and unfinished. It’s a shame since it was fucking hilarious to see Nunubot use his ult and kill everyone attacking the nexus towers (I’ve seen that happen twice). Hopefully they’ll bring him back because Nunubot was always kinda awesome. He maxed his harass to do good damage and slow you, and ate minions at low health.

I don’t only use practice games against bots to farm IP. Practice games give you a good non-competitive time to see how much damage you’re doing exactly with a certain build order (you can focus on the numbers and the bots are a reliable damage sponge to gauge your damage capability), as well as get your skill combos down and practice farming creeps. You can still use bushes to “exploit” the AI (though not as well as before).

But that’s not what you were responding to, McKnight. Phydeaux told a simple anecdote about a player who said he was frustrated, and was encouraged to leave the game because he sucked. Furthermore, Phydeaux was telling you this as an explanation for why he no longer wants to play League of Legends.

Your response was to be supportive of the guy who said GTFO. Here’s the post:

How was the first guy being intentionally disruptive? How was he ruining four other people’s experience? How is it that your first reaction is to quickly make the assumptions you need to rally behind Mr. GTFO?

I’m sure you’re a great bunch of folks to play with people you know, but if you and Anti-Bunny think Mr. GTFO was in the right, you’re exactly the sorts of guys who makes online gaming what it is.

Oh, there is a program also on that website call skinselect, basically it override you default skin and replace it with whichever “official” skin you choose, only you can see it though. pretty neat, basically give you access to all skins without buying it.

Someone in a game I was playing was doing poorly and said he was ready to ragequit.

tom, this sentence doesn’t make any sense, someone in a game said he was doing poorly, or someone in a game I was in was doing poorly?

It’s possibly difficult to understand, but bear in mind we’ve all been playing this for a year and we generally play with players who are experienced. So when someone at our level gives a ragequite anecdote we tend to know the type of player that reflects :)

tbh I don’t think I have seen Mcknight be anything except supportive - certainly never seen much smack talking from him. The exception is him and Express - my god they can talk for ever about a strategy - right in the middle of a major team fight :)

That is weird - isn’t ELO based on the levels you win or lose against as well?

Ok. Sorry I ruined online gaming, guys.

I know in ranked, you gain a set amount of points depends on your rank.

I knew it had to be all Bunny’s fault!

Bunny’s Warwick ruined online gaming.

What is it about Tom’s scenario that you are having trouble with?

I have never told a player “you are terrible” (or anything similar) because they were playing bad. I have bitched about such people to you guys sometimes, sure. I would never, ever bitch at someone for playing bad, call them fail, etc. You of all people can appreciate this I think, given that your warwick play has come under fire at times. Yeah, I hate it when dudes get emo but I don’t harass people for that either.

Yes, there are people who do distruptive things but that isn’t everyone and you know that. I don’t think there is enough information in the Phydeaux case to say whether the player was being disruptive to the point where it looked like trolling. Given the nature of the LoL community, it’s just as likely the guy had a bad game.

I’ve been cussed at in the last week for the following:

  1. Running from back to back 3v5s (I am one of the 3) as a carry. I was not in a position to carry that hard (you know major lane win, 5 kills, and 5 levels on everyone).

  2. Mid ashe versus leblanc. I am creaming her (over 4x creep score but no kills; came close. No deaths). Our fat ass nunu wants to gank. He sort of takes his time (by that I mean he pinged and then just sat there for a bit; I let he push all day and she is well on our side of mid).

She gets a little too aggressive so I blast her with an arrow and attack. Nunu sits there.

Suddenly urgot appears from the other side of the river, the side I am hugging somewhat. Urgot lands a poison cloud so then he proceeds to spam his projectile at me. I am taking huge damage (even accounting for 3 dorans items, 1 shield). Nunu eventually goes in but by this time I have had to back all the way to the tower and I am at 30% hp.

As I am backing I am firing frosty volleys at every opportunity of course. Nunu gets hammered and I step back out and keep volleying, trying to give him an outlet to get to the turret. He fails miserably and dies (he wanted to gank at like <50% health, incidentally. This is the guy with 2 tear drops and boots I was bitching about).

Response? “Ashe you are fucking terrible. Uninstall.”

He fucking waited. We had Leblanc middle (horizontally speaking, she was favoring the top side, which was ideal for a gank) of the lane arrowed and he didn’t come out. So I sat there and fought her while she wailed on me a bit and then urgot piled on. And then nunu came in and failed and was a huge douche.

  1. In a sivir game my team kept trying to engage with people scattered. I can overcome that sometimes. But a panth and another character I can’t recall decided I was dangerous (I outfarmed mid by like 30-40 creeps and I think I had some early kills, so I was). Every time there was anything remotely approaching a team fight they beelined towards me when they saw me. They didn’t use skills, they waited for me.

What happens? The whole team ignores this, so I end up having to run (Well, the intent is to kite at first and we had some cc on the team to deal with it), though a couple of times I get killed. If I do succeed in running I am throwing fade away Qs in the hopes I can still help.

The result? Dog cussed by two players in the game (one of whom was worthless, not at all unexpectedly). "Sivir why do you keep running? Because Pantheon and someone are face stomping me you deluded jackass. A better question is why you guys are failing to take advantage of 4v3 situations.

That’s off the top of my head, there are more scenarios. In the above cases I was having good games every time (I owned mid that game as ashe; urgot came later and I still out farmed him about 2.5-3 x 1).

Not difficult to understand at all. I’ve only been playing for a week or so and I’m familiar with ragequitting and the impact it has on a game.

Did you read the anecdote, by the way? The guy didn’t quit. He expressed frustration and said he was tempted to quit. To my mind, that’s a watershed moment for this guy. Does the community offer him support and encouragement? Or do they tell him he sucks and that he should get the fuck out? I’m surprised there’s any debate about the better answer.

Which is why I was surprised at his response to Phydeaux’s anecdote. McKnight strikes me as the kind of supportive guy who’s an asset to player communities.

Idrisz, I didn’t write that line – hence the quote tags in my post – but the sentence is grammatically sound. Your latter interpretation is correct.

-Tom

/droll You have no idea.

after testing the skinselector, it will change your default skin to which ever skin you pick, but it doesn’t change the voice, probably not the fx from the legendary skin.

The part Talsworthy thought you might not understand is the fact that they have high ELO ratings after playing many years. The odds are pretty good that if they have a random player who joins their ranked match, that player is far from a beginner (also beginners don’t usually play ranked games). So if a experienced veteran is threatening to rage quit, you can infer some things about his personality.

What’s the point of having the skins if no one else can see them?

I know I’m very VERY tempted to buy Hussar Xin when it comes out, mostly because I’m a Polack.
