I’m still pretty new to the game so I might be wrong but it feels like something happened with the range of Sona’s Q. I thought I had a pretty good sense of how close I had to be to hit people with it but last night I kept ending up hitting minions instead of champions. It was pretty frustrating. Anyone else notice that?

Yes, definitely. Could be latency though, but I’ve had the same exact experience lately.

Ok the Tree might work out as an off Tank. Managed to go 4/3/19 with him just now. We also had a Shen so no was expecting him to fully tank.

Okay, this game is pretty rad. It’s everything I liked about Demigod, and missing many of the frustrations of that game. Playing the tutorial stuff a few times since “Co-op vs AI” is greyed out (what’s up with that?).

That’s strange. Sometimes servers are overloaded and they temporarily disable practice/custom games against the AI.

Co-op vs AI is the new game mode that is going in this week. It’s not quite there yet so the menu option is grayed out. It didn’t exist before this week. Well, I guess it still doesn’t :) wisefool is thinking of custom games with bots. If you want to play a practice game just make a new custom game and add bots to it, Jason. Make sure you put a password on the game so random people don’t join. Random people are gross.

The co-op v. AI is a new mode that they are adding this week. Prior to that you could play bots in custom games but the old AI was total crap. You can still do this BTW.

I actually think this is what makes them so successful. People tend to play team games more if they play with their friends. Getting all your friends to spend money to try a game (since most demos have limited or no multiplayer) can be a pain. But getting your friends to spend zero dollars to try playing a a game with you? Much easier. Now out of every group of friends, there is at least one or two who don’t mind tossing money away. Either to catch up with IP boosts, get some snazzy champs right off the bat, or to look cool with some skins. I personally have spent zero dollars*. But all of my friends have, on that stuff I listed above, and it helps that we can come back and play every day if we want, without having to buy ‘ammo’ or ‘energy’ like some other games.

*(I’m a bad person, I mean I enjoy the game and my old roommate actually works there, and I’ve had beer with Morello before, so I really should contribute to their success.)

They could have gotten money out of me and they haven’t, it’s pretty much that simple. I think they could have easily done all the things you talk about, and still had a better model in place for them to make money. There are plenty of champs in this game, and plenty of opportunity for people to get hooked into the game. I don’t think they are monetizing it very well is all.

You need enough free content to get people hooked, any more than that and you are throwing money away. In my opinion, Riot is currently throwing money away.

Fuck Karthus and Shaco in the bushes have a lot more personality.

I think shaco in the bush need to be change to Teemo in the bushes and we need add another channel call Fortress of Shroomtitude!!!

That’s where I disagree, if the free playing portion wasn’t so large, I probably wouldn’t be playing. And if I’m not playing, I’m actively trying to get my friends to play something else, which might result in them not playing, and not continuing to spend money on the game. It’s sort of an assumption that freebooters have friends who spend money, and that the more people play, the more likely they are to spend money. It might just be a matter of the right skin coming along. I know I was tempted by Nunu’s Oskar the Grouch skin…

Agreed we went boring on the names - but it does work. How many times have people positioned themselves in on later to find themselves tempted into a LOL game::) We also seem to be having a resurgence in mumble (+20). Same people (which is nice but they’ve either returned or on more often :)

I suggested it to Bunny, and I am sure others have too, and he said no. One AFK, one On Later and one LFG channel plus the existing channels are all that’s required really.

Riot is following the same model everybody else is. That model appears to be working for everybody else, and Riot as well.
