Great.
But my issue is… how many games of LoL are an epic push back and forth, neck and neck race that ends near an hour? Now how many games does one team get a major upper hand and and start beating down the other in the first 20 minutes?
This has always been one of my key frustrations with the matchmaking system. It seems geared to hard see-saw rather than truly match. Thus most games either my team stomps or the other team stomps.
Now throw in the new IP system, and you have a recipe for frustration as often you are looking at minimal points or a game that stretches on way longer than it should just so more IP can be reaped.
The IP changes seem built for PvBots rather than PvP.
You get less points for a shorter game, because you can play more short games per hour.
Buy an IP boost if you need IP quick ;)
Yes!
I get that Shaco in the Bushes has more personality but wtf does it mean? It’s like telling someone I’ll meant you in the hotel’s blue room, Conference room 4 or room 413 is something I can actually use to navigate around.
Man, this game seems extra buggy since the last patch. I’ve had friends on voice chat telling me they were online for five minutes before I could see them on the friends list, practice games with bots where the bots never even move, and lots of problems with the display of IP/XP in the main lobby. After my last game I got credit for extra IP because of an IP boost but I’ve never purchased IP. When I went back to the lobby to see if I really did get a bonus I was showing 0IP and 0RP.
Oh well, still having a great time with it. The new tree guy is pretty sweet but I’m not sure about his ultra. I guess you have to depend on other team members slowing the enemy to keep them in it long enough for it to do damage? The graphic looks cool, though. I also like the sapling mine thingies that grant vision. They’d be so helpful if I ever remembered to look at the minimap :(

You use it in a teamfight to protect your carries and zone ground. The damage reduction is pretty nice and it means that your carry can sit in it and plink away at the enemy safe in the knowledge that they are perfectly fine once they stay inside.
Also saw a really funny moment of Nunu Ulting the tree and instead of stunning him out of it he put his Ult down instead, took practically no damage and pretty much insta killed Nunu afterwords once he ended it :)
I have to say that I saw Inigima playing Maoki earlier, and the sapling skill is the greatest thing I have ever seen OF ALL TIME.
The IP boost is free to everyone that played during patch day, its a 10 Games IP Boost.
So, what’s the preferred method of communication in this game? It seems like voice chat would make a huge difference, but there’s no built-in voice chat (the game really could use it!).
Also, we need some sort of list of QT3 player’s names in the game. Maybe we could have the OP append them to the original post?
That sounds like a lot of work for the OP :P
If someone wants to setup a google doc of names or some such I’ll gladly put a link up to it in the OP though.
Should have a server region designation too as I know we have people on the EU and US servers.
As for chat, voice is generally best. A bunch of QT3 players use a Mumble server, and a fair amount of another subset use Vent as well. There’s a QT3 in game chat channel but it doesn’t get much traffic. We use one with some other folks I play with and I find it works well for organizing.

I had a list but it’s not fully updated because well, I’m not bothered at the moment. I’ll make up a google docs later on… Probably… Maybe
Note the list is exclusively US now, because well us EU people know how to form a community ;)
Awful is a strong term. Yes, in a Pro match, where every Rune counts, it may be awful.
But I’m putting Calistas in the same boat as me - as a intelligent, good, but Casual player. And I’m assuming that the LoL matchmaking system is good enough to regularly put him up against similar players
In my mind:
Noob<< Casual<Hardcore<<Pro
Again, I’m trying to address and help him with these two issues, which are fixed with HP and Vamp.
I’m not knocking Dorans, it is probably a better choice at the elite levels, but frankly, I’d suggest Callistas try both options - I had a constant problem simply surviving with my squishy of choice (Heimer) until I switched to a Ruby Crystal-> Warmogs build.

Again, your problem is not health, it’s game experience. Playing a DPS carry requires a different strategy than a burst carry. Either are useless if your team has no good tank or initiator. Your priority is to punish other champs for their positional mistakes.

While I agree with you about the fact there’s always a difference in skill levels I must disagree with your other points. If something is just plain good then why not do that? Because your up against worse players is a pretty poor reason for doing something that shouldn’t work. Just do the thing that works and your play will improve from that.
And I’m not one to criticize itemization, unless they are batshit insane like Lazy’s Kog’Maw. By all means build a Warmogs on your Heim (you might try a Rylais instead btw, it gives you a substantial health bonus aswell as a reliable slow and some AP). Starting items however are a completely different kettle of fish and certain things simply work and don’t work. In fact I’d recommend starting Dorans even more at lower levels of play, as you don’t have the runes to compensate for the loss of not picking one.
Fair enough, I’d be inclined to see what Calistas results are.
I tend to prefer Warmogs over Rylai, because, as Heimer, I have no problem farming the minions to max it, and the health regen is needed to go with the HP
Rylais is my late, late game item if I am still in constant 1v1 scrums, after a Warmogs and Will of the Ancients.

I didn’t say it was good only against bad players, and it ‘shouldn’t work’ - I’m suggesting he try adding HP to the mix to see if it fixes his issues.
And, again - I’m trying to avoid absolutes - my contention is that absolutes are really only applicable at pro level play. The difference between a Ruby Crystal/viable upgrade path and a Doran’s/sell it later for half - That difference, I don’t see as an absolute.
My community could totally beat up your community.
Well how about we get all my friends in a room together and we’ll fight your one friend.

And his one friend is actually Houngan, and he’ll be packing some heat. =)
I was making a scrubs reference but this is also funny :)
