My rules on a surrender are pretty much the following:

Is there team comp vastly better than ours? There’s a lot of variables to this, but it basically comes down to “do I think we can win a team fight in our base with enough left over to make a push?”
If they have a kill advantage, and it is substantial, is it because they’re beating us flat out or because of some correctable mistakes?
Have we lost an inhibitor? If yes, how many other turrets/inhibitors do we have vs them?
General farm. If they’ve vastly out farmed us it can take forever to get back into the game.

I think sometimes people get discouraged early in what is still a winnable match and then give up cause the snowballing to get worse.

I have voted surrender on games I don’t think is over. I’ll say I don’t think it’s over first and try to win some support for playing it out but… If people are not having fun, I am not going to twist their arm.

I believe he did quit and you are the one berating him over it… So yes, someone was trying to make him stay in the game.

Also Bunny that doesn’t change that your post is a load of shit. Surrender votes require 4 votes so if your “team” wants to surrender, they will. If there is one other person on your team voting no then you have that means your either both idiots or people are QQing because they lost their lane.

This entire subthread was started because I was upset over two people who are known to never surrender games as if it is on principle.

Actually, I didn’t berate him at all, he wants to surrender when we were down 2 towers, so I voted no and therlun voted no as well.

then he tried again after we lost mid, and I didn’t even vote, therlun voted no for that one.

Afterward he decided to just afk in the fountain, while we were still trying to fight, and then he said “I want to quit”. so I said just quit then. which he did.

the best part is that after he and angel left, and there were 3 of us left in game, so we are doing our best trying to finish the game, after 5 minutes, he told us in mumble to hurry up and lose so he doesn’t get a leaver.

Also I vote yes to surrender too, but not on games we still have a chance of winning, ask therlun and lazy, the last game we surrendered because it was pretty hopeless at that point.

No, I didn’t. I said please just surrender so I don’t have to get a leaver because I have better things to do then to play a long, boring, losing game.

actually, voting no and not voting is different! vote no would be No. not voting would be wait and see if anyone else would vote no, which someone did!!

or you can play a game with an awesome comeback like the next 3 games which you didn’t play.

half way through our 3rd games, pogo popped in said he just won in a game where you would have tried to surrender, and we all laughed.

Also this isn’t the first time this happen, I wouldn’t even have bring this stuff up if bunny didn’t come running to post about it, but he even tries to surrender during premade 5vs5 games, the best part about that game is that we ace chiffy and his team like in 5 minutes after he fails the surrender vote, and won the game hands down.

Eh, this shit happens once in a while. Even if a game can be won, sometimes someone doesn’t feel like taking the next 30 minutes to farm up enough items and defending the base in order to win a teamfight to swing the game back to their favor. I’ve probably surrendered games that theoretically could have been won. I was even considering it in the game where I popped into the channel that idrisz was referring to.

So, this shit happens. AFKing at fountain is poor sportsmanship, but so is voting No by default.

Once the first inhib goes down though, then it’s worth it to start thinking about surrendering.

I’d agree, although still played a lot of games where we’ve lost the inhibitor, been down on kills and still come back. It’s a lost game imho as soon as people start talking the game as lost. Not one many when people have started talking the game down but won loads in the same position but where the team has remained positive.

I agree. An end game wipe by the enemy in your base can lead to a complete reversal of even the most one sided game.

The only thing that will cause me to surrender is having a feeder who refuses to listen. (Noting that I will only begin making suggestions when they are 0/4/0 or better) Example - last night we had Panth begin Ult’ing around the map looking for kills, leaving Nunu 1v2 in the top lane . . . where he quickly changed his 0/2/0 to a 0/5/0 and lost his two towers. The team (Panth plus me and my two kids) turned the team fights around - and took the bottom enemy towers and was holding our own in the team fights. I asked Nunu to take over the relatively safe bottom lane and level up . . . but no, he insisted on continually pushing top, leading to 3 more ganks and me initiating surrender.

No shit. Fortunately, at no time in my post did I suggest otherwise. It’s also impossible to think that I did, unless you are some sort of pod person.

Also, the US servers have been down all day. This must be Bunny’s fault.
