Don’t forget they instant-lock.
Gah, wish I could try out Renekton, him and that new MF-alike champion.

Double-stunners can almost always control a lane assuming they are aggressive when it counts.

Sion is just plain strong in a lane, regardless of partner.
I don’t think Trist is that much easier than anyone else. I think the hardest things to get down are positioning, map awareness, last hitting, mana conservation and harassment in lane, and being able to make instantaneous fight or flee decisions, and Trist has that as much as any other character. Her moveset may be pretty straightforward, but most characters just have one or two patterns they stick to. Ie, Akali is just going to throw her Q, wait a couple seconds and then jump in with a pretty set combo of moves (cloak maybe depending on how focused she’s expecting to be). Once you get the pattern down she’s pretty simple too. And Trist’s rocket jump can definitely be used as a skill shot.

Every time I play him I get destroyed. :(

As him or against him?
Sion needs to be harassed. An incoming stun/shieldbomb has to be bursted as quickly as possible by a teammate. On some champs this is easy as one spell will do it, on others… like I said, teammate.
If you buy an ip boost that is per-day instead of per-win, do you get extra ip for your losses as well?
yes. also, you can combine both ip boosts. last game I played with both boosts gave me over 500 ip for a win.

Oh yeah, wow I’m really enjoying Zilean. I play extra careful using some of the stuff I’ve seen playing with the Idrisz and the other QT3 guys and I just stay out of range until I level up a bit. Then I self cast E on myself running in for a quick double time bomb and then run out. I save my Ult for when I over extend myself or have to dash in extra. I don’t really level my abilities like a few guides suggest, I tack on a few W’s so I can self cast speed non-stop. That way I can quickly jump into another lane cast a few bombs and then get back before anyone notices, though my situational awareness about when thats useful is not quite there.
That said I still have alot to learn, accidental mad dashes into oblivion still occur too frequently for me and numerous other things. I’m still not great on where to head with items after the early game, though I middle my way through with Mejaj’s if I’m doing well, AP if I’m not. By that I mean I go for Archangels staff and sorcerers boots. After that I’m not sure since most my game end before then. I’m loving him though.
Just had a great game with Calistas, highlights include him leaping in just as I died to kill a Ryze and Amumu I was double laning against. Overall a very fun game and despite the fact we had 1 afk mordekaiser from the start we were able to carry it and soundly smash them.
man, add Miss Fortune to the champions I like to play as. yesterday I was in a pub game where we were absolutely rolling, I think I was 6-0 at some point. her and mordekaiser in a lane were absolute murder. At one point we were 18-2 on team kills. They managed to rally a bit, but we still won handily
What are good resources for reading material on the net? I’ve been reading stuff like specific champion strategies and so on, but I’d like to dig a bit deeper into the general game mechanics more, but what’s a good place to go look? Stuff like the difference between AP and attack, gear selection in general, etc.
Yeah, Morbe plays better than his levels suggest! And I think I’m in love with doing nothing but saving for a BF sword as Miss F’s first item. We ate them mid-game and they surrendered at 20 min.
Scenes from the road:
Me, as MF
Some dude, as Shaco
Early in the lane:
Dude: “MF, WTF are you doing? Just do damage!”
Me: “What?”
Dude: “You are waiting until the creeps are low health, then killing them. Just attack and do damage!”
Me: “But that would push the lane, which is bad, especially since they have a jungler, and we can’t see him”
Dude: “KILL AND DO DAMAGE RAWR”.
Sigh.
It got better. Despite being Shaco he never put his boxen into the river bush. Evil Shaco (or maybe I should call the guy “competent shaco”) got him 4 times. The third was the best. I am in the top river bush on our side. Dude runs to river bush and guess who is there? Evil Shaco, who out levels him by a couple at this point, and is somewhat fed with 3 or 4 kills already. So I run down to help. As soon as I am in range I drop E on the back side of the bush (catching Evil Shaco and his clone but also getting some retreat space). And then I get feared so I can’t ult. And Dude bitches up a storm, complaining in all talk, etc.
He finished 2/11/1.
Sounds about right.
Another oddly common thing I seem to run across from time to time is when having a sub-par or bad game someone on our team will start bitching complaining how X is fail etc. That’s all fine and dandy except when this happens X wont even be close to the worst player on our team. The other day I had someone going off on me and my build (was building a brutalizer on a melee champ, go figure) because I was 1/4, meanwhile we had two other players on the team that were 1/8 and 2/10 (all with low assists). I’m always like “really? I’m the guy you’re going to rage on?” I’ve actually seen this a bunch of times, I can only assume that they must be friends with the other guys or something and are just looking for someone to vent on.
It should be noted I was doing a fair amount of harass when I could (indeed, Shaco got the second kill of the game based largely on my heavy harass). So it isn’t like I was ignoring the enemy summoners.
For Jason Cross:
Here’s a thread discussing ward placement on the league of legends site. Knowing where you are safe and where you aren’t (your “gank sense”) is developed over a large number of games. I’d recommend watching some of treeeskimo’s games, as he talks a lot about when he is and isn’t safe, based on what’s going on in the game and the minimap in particular.
Essentially, if everyone is accounted for, then you know where everyone is and nobody’s going to jump out and surprise you. If nobody’s on the map, and you’re far away from your closest tower, then they could all be in a bush, waiting to explode you as you walk by. Often, it will not be all of them, but as you saw last night, even two people is enough to ruin your day. This is what people refer to as “overextending” - you’ve extended yourself past the safe areas on the map. The map starts out fairly safe on your side of the river, but as the game progresses and people become more mobile (and as towers fall), the map becomes less and less safe, until perhaps the only place that is safe is inside your own base, and wandering out alone into the woods at night will result in you dying.
Wards help, as they give you some additional places that you know people aren’t - with a few of them in key places where enemies need to move through to get to your current location, you know you’re safe until you see an enemy traveling to your position on the minimap.
Map awareness takes a long time to learn, but it’s one of the most important skills of the game, regardless of the character you play.
I sorta learnt this stuff myself, as I’m sure alot of us have, so it’s hard to point you to places where all this is discussed (but I’ll certainly try)
Runeterra has a really nice community and you should check it out. It’s mechanics forum should be exactly what you are looking for.
Leaguecraft and Mobafire are where you’ll find Champion guides. Generally Mobafire is superior but Leaguecraft also has a general guide tab where you might find some of the stuff you were asking about.
Other then that, try asking us ;)
